Trivia
- Hariyama has a higher catch rate than Makuhita. Hariyama has a catch rate of 200, though its appearance suggests otherwise.
Origin
Hariyama is based on a sumo wrestler.
Name origin
Hariyama's name is a shortening of its Japanese name, Hariteyama. Its name may be a combination of 張り合う hariau, to compete with, 張り倒す haritaosu, to knock down, and 山 yama, mountain. Hariyama literally means 針山, pincushion, and it is also a sumo ranking.
