Special abilities
Victreebel lures prey into its mouth with Template:M2, then clamps down, trapping it.
Behavior
They can be found in small groups and are highly territorial. At the depths of the most dangerous jungles Victreebel live in huge colonies, and few Pokémon enter their territory and live to tell the tell. Victreebel horde food, usually small birds and rodents, and collect Leaf Stones to perform evolution rituals at night to help Weepinbell become more Victreebel.
Habitat
Victreebel live in forests, as well as tropical jungles and swamps where the ground is rich in nutrients. They can also occasionally be found in caves, near sources of underground water.
Diet
Main article: Pokémon food
It uses an incredibly sweet-smelling honey to attract bugs, and sometimes larger prey, ranging from small rodents to creatures almost as large as themselves. The prey is then swallowed whole and is slowly digested by powerful acids strong enough to melt steel.
- One of the few pokémons whose Pokedex entries sometimes suggest Pokémon kills human being.
Origin
Victreebel and its pre-evolutions may be based upon carnivorous pitcher plants.
Name origin
Victreebel's name seems to be be a combination of bell, referring to its bell-like shape, and victory. The two E's in its name could also come from tree. Its Japanese name is based on 靫葛 utsubokazura, or "pitcher plant".
It may also contain the Japanese tsubo meaning jar.
Because the game only allows for ten characters to make up a Pokémon's name, Victreebel's name only has one L.
