Skuntank (Japanese: スカタンク Skutank) is a dual-type Poison/Dark Pokémon.
Biology
Physiology
Skuntank are medium sized mammalian Pokémon that are dark purple with a white stripe running down their backs. Their cheeks, now tan in coloration, are not as large as Stunky's, giving their face a somewhat cat-like appearance, with Skuntank also having small fangs. The whiskers present on its pre-evolution have since vanished or have been replaced by a furry purple tufts on the sides of Skunank’s face. Skuntank’s legs are tan, and the tan coloration of their underside now form a spiky pattern. Skuntank’s most notable and obvious feature, however, is that their tails are much longer and are often laid out on their backs and over their faces.
Gender differences
None.
Special abilities
Skuntank are known for their noxious fluid which not only smells dreadfully disgusting, but is possibly flammable and explosive, allowing it to learn Fire Type attacks like Flamethrower and Fire Blast as well as explosive attacks like Explosion. It can spray this fluid over 160 feet, and the longer it allows the liquid to ferment within its body, the more powerful the smell. Unlike its pre-evolution and real-life Skunks, Skuntank spray this from their tail tip instead of the base.
Behavior
It is likely that like Stunky, it uses its foul smelling spray to defend itself.
Habitat
Skuntank prefer to nest in large, prickly bushes in heavily wooded areas.

In the manga
A Skuntank is seen in PS348 spreading its malodorous smell right around the Cycling Road, where its stench was so great that Platinum fainted upon coming into contact with it, while still on her bike and heading straight to her death going downhill, until her Prinplup was able to freeze the air around her bike to save her at the last minute (at Pearl's behest, of course). Inadvertently, this allowed her to learn to pedal her bike, though she still didn't get how to hit the brakes. This smell still persisted so badly the next day that the two, with Diamond, were forced to bathe where they next stayed.
Humorously, the woman at the counter where they hosted the baths literally got a crooked nose from the odor it produced.

NPC appearances
- Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Time and Explorers of Darkness and Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Sky: Skuntank is the leader of Team Skull, a band of thieves. When he first appears, he uses his stench to knock out the player. With Koffing, he can perform a noxious gas combo attack, and uses that to knock out the player's team with a horrible stench several times over the course of the game, but this fails against Wigglytuff later on. Toward the end of the game when he steals the Relic Fragment, his team's lives are saved by the player's team and he gives the relic back.

Trivia
- Skuntank weighs 83.8 lbs, which is the same as the male player in Diamond and Pearl. This trait is shared with Fearow, Togekiss, Yanma and Sudowoodo.
- To date, Skuntank is the only non-Template:Type2 Pokémon to learn Flamethrower naturally.
- In the Galactic Hideout in Eterna City, Jupiter has an underleveled Skuntank. It is is level 20 (Diamond and Pearl)/21 (Platinum), but Stunky evolves at level 34.
- Skuntank's color palette was changed slightly in Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver, despite its being a non-Johto Pokémon. This also happened to Stunky, Registeel, Torterra, Chimchar, Glameow, Purugly, and Chatot.
- All of Skuntank's Pokédex entries mention its tendency to spray smelly fluid from its tail.
Origin
Skuntank is based on a hog-nosed skunk.
Name origin
Skuntank's name appears to be a combination of tank, skunk, and stank, the past tense of stink. Skutank is the same, just with one less letter due to character limits.
In other languages
- German: Skunktank
- French: Moufflair - From moufette (striped skunk) and flair (smelling).
- Korean: 스컹탱크 Seukeongtaengkeu
- Chinese (Taiwan): 坦克臭鼬 Tǎn Kè Chòu Yòu - Combination of 坦克 (military tank) and 臭鼬 (skunk).
