After obtaining bicycles from Rad Rickshaw, Platinum, Diamond, and Pearl approach the Cycling Road over Route 206. The three get on their bikes, but Platinum wobbles and collapses, causing the others to stop and verify that she knows how to ride a bike. Platinum denies being unable to ride a bicycle, but it becomes evident that she never learned how to.
Meanwhile, Professor Rowan and Mr. Berlitz finally arrive in Canalave City, where they will be giving their research presentation. As the two walk into the city, a man can be seen having a conversation with Roark over the phone. He laughs at Roark for losing to a Gym challenger.
At Cycling Road, Pearl takes it upon himself to teach Platinum to ride a bicycle, but she makes it clear that she doesn't want him to help her. She continues to fall off her bike, and Diamond tries to help, but Pearl tells him that it's impossible to learn how to ride without falling. As Platinum leaves to practice riding with her Prinplup, Diamond and Pearl work on their comedy routine.
While Platinum is practicing on her own, a pungent smell fills the air. Its stench is so horrible that it causes Platinum to faint. Even while unconscious, Platinum's hands stay on her bike, and she starts rapidly riding down a slope. Pearl sees that she's charging straight toward a gap in the road and leaps into action, as Diamond goes off to try to find the source of the smell. Pearl takes Chimler and Prinplup on his bike, and orders Chimler to shoot fire out of its tail to give them a speed boost towards Platinum. When he realizes they won't make it to her in time, Pearl tells Prinplup to create an upwards slope made of ice to stop Platinum from falling through the gap.
The ice slope catches Platinum, and at the top, she finally wakes up. Platinum rolls downwards back towards the road, and Pearl is incredibly relieved. As Pearl compliments Prinplup for its work, Diamond rides into the area with a Stunky. He reveals that it had gotten so irritated with the sound of Platinum's crashes that it released the horrible scent that caused her to faint. Suddenly, Platinum rides past the two, who are both shocked to see that she has control of the bicycle. She apologizes for her stubbornness, then asks how to stop the bike as she charges away from them at a rapid pace.
Meanwhile, a silhouetted man can be seen making his way to Mt. Coronet.
