Kricketune is a bipedal Pokémon that is cricket-like in appearance. Primarily red, it has gray-colored eyes, black feelers in the shape of a mustache, and a dark red, round nose. Kricketune has two small feet, black wings shaped like a conductor's cape, and scythes for hands. Its long antennae are also somewhat like scythes, and there are three black dots on its lower body with two beige stripes running down its neck to the centermost of the black dots. Below the centermost dot is a pattern with a dark-red upper section and beige lower section.
It can make music by rubbing its arms together, which it uses to signal its emotions. It is also able to use its scythelike foreparts for attacks like Fury Cutter, Slash, and Night Slash.
Kricketune is seen living in Crown City as few of its many inhabitants in Zoroark: Master of Illusions. Two of them worked with the other Pokémon in surrounding Zorua to attack him, angry at Zorua for what Zoroark did to the city. Before a fight broke out, the Kricketune, along with the other Pokémon, were calmed by Celebi.
Unlike most evolved Pokémon, except in the case of baby Pokémon, it is far more common in the wild than its pre-evolution. This is due to Kricketune being available at all times of day, while Kricketot is only found at night (as well as morning in Platinum).
Origin
Kricketune appears to be based on a violin beetle, as well as crickets because they make sounds by rubbing their arms on their abdomen. Its body resembles string instruments. It also resembles music conductors, due to its mustache and wings that look like a cape.
Name origin
Kricketune is a combination of cricket and tune.
Korotock may be a combination of 蟋蟀 koorogi (cricket) and tock (onomatopoeia of a ticking clock) or a corruption of 曲 kyoku (tune).
