Steam Cave (Japanese: ねっすいのどうくつ Hot Water Cave) is the 12th dungeon in Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Time and Explorers of Darkness and Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Sky, that can be obtained by activating the Groudon Statue with the Drought Stone to clear the fog at Foggy Forest. After 8 floors comes Upper Steam Cave, consisting of 7 floors, with a fake Groudon, an illusion created by Uxie's psychic powers, at the top. Uxie is the one who truly guards the area and protects the Time Gear.

After the first visit, the dungeon cannot be revisited until after the credits. Uxie will be the boss of the dungeon on subsequent visits, who, upon defeat, will ask to join the player's team.

Gameplay

Jobs here are ranked E, B or A depending on the floor. Upper Steam Cave is considered A rank for purpose of Treasure Boxes.

The floors are medium sized with 4-8 rooms. There's usually 2-3 Wonder Tiles. There's 1-4 items for first 3 floors of Steam Cave, then 2-5 for the rest of the dungeon. There's 2-3 starting enemies for most of the dungeon, with 2-4 starting enemies on last four floors of Upper Steam Cave

The IQ Booster activates on even floors past 2nd (counting Upper Steam Cave as continuation of Steam Cave). The player cannot be rescued if knocked out in Upper Steam Cave. The turn limit is 1000. There is light darkness in the dungeon, as well as water. Pokémon here have 26 IQ, while the boss has 330 IQ.
