Giratina (Japanese: ギラティナ Giratina) is a Legendary Pokémon.
Giratina's signature move is Shadow Force.
Biology
Physiology
Giratina is a large, gray, centipede-like creature with six short legs. Its legs have golden claws and a gold band on them. It has a tail and a thick black stripe running vertically along the front of its body. There is a series of red horizontal stripes running across the large black one. Three golden half-rings circle the back half of Giratina's neck at the same points that three of the red stripes are at on its front, resembling a ribcage. On its back are two large, black wings that are decorated with red, conical objects. The wings seem oddly out of place, due to the fact that Giratina seems far too heavy to fly effectively. Giratina's head and eyes resemble those of Dialga and Palkia, making many have a theory that it is related to the two. Giratina's shiny form is almost a perfect negative of the original.
Giratina also has an "Origin Form" which it uses for traveling between dimensions. This form is more serpentine than Giratina's regular form. The Origin form of Giratina has six black streamers on its back that each have a red spike at the end. Giratina's legs have been reduced to looking like spikes. There four more golden spikes near the edge of the tail.
Gender differences
Giratina is genderless.
Special abilities
As to be expected with other Ghost-type Pokémon, Giratina is capable of using Ghost, Dark, Psychic and Electrical attacks. Unlike other Dragon Pokémon, Giratina lacks the ability to wield Ice and Fire-type attacks (save for Will-O-Wisp). Giratina is one out of seven Pokémon that is capable using Aura Sphere. Giratina's signature move is Shadow Force. Since Giratina is a "true" Dragon Pokémon, it is also capable of using Draco Meteor.
Behavior
Habitat
Giratina is a very rare (one-of-a-kind) Pokémon due to its "Legendary" Status. Legends claim that Giratina show up at cemeteries and that this Pokémon supposedly lives in the Spirit World.

Trivia
- Giratina is the only dual-type Pokémon that has weaknesses to both of its own types, as well as the first Template:Type2 legendary Pokémon.
- No other Pokémon has the same type combination as Giratina.
- Giratina is one of the few non Flying-types who can learn Fly. The others are Mew, Vibrava, Flygon, Smeargle, Latios and Latias.
- Giratina is speculated to be the third counterpart of Dialga and Palkia, in part due to the fact that the three have the same move patterns as well as the same level on which they learn their signature move and therefore also speculated to be the version mascot of the third game, if there is one.
- It is interesting to note that Giratina shares qualites with Pokémon from both the dragon trio and the lake trio. For example, Giratina is a secondary Dragon-type capable of learning several of the same moves as Dialga and Palkia at the same level. However, Giratina is found in a cave near Sendoff Spring, also known as the "fourth lake of Sinnoh." Ironically, the lake trio pixies are also located in caves near (or in their case, on) lakes.
Origin
Giratina is possibly based on a Basilisk.
Name origin
Giratina's name may be derived from either guillotine or girasol or a combination of the two.
