Ogerpon (Japanese: オーガポン Ogerpon) is a Legendary Pokémon introduced in Generation IX.
Ogerpon is the game mascot of The Teal Mask, appearing in The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero.
Biology
Ogerpon is a small, green humanoid Pokémon. It has a green, grassy torso, and long black legs with two toes on each foot. A green, leafy cloak covers its arms. It is seen wearing a large leaf mask with a creepy grin and Terastal marks on the lower leaves, forehead, and eyes. Under its mask, Ogerpon has yellow eyes and a thorny vine around its head with the two upper ones resembling horns.
The mask it wears is described as being fearsome[1]. It resides in the land of Kitakami.
Trivia
Origin
Ogerpon may be based on oni, creatures from Japanese folklore that often are referred to as demons or ogres in English. In particular, it may be based off the oni who live on Onigashima from the story of Momotarō. It may also be inspired by onikenbai, or Devil's Sword Dance, a traditional festival and dance in Kitakami, Iwate.
Name origin
Ogerpon may be derived from ogre and ~ぽん -pon, a cutesy suffix applied to names as a form of endearment.
