Gravity (Japanese: じゅうりょく Gravity) is a non-damaging Psychic-type move introduced in Generation IV.

Effect

Generation IV

Gravity causes the field to undergo intense gravity. This effect lasts 5 turns.

Intense gravity prevents Pokémon from reaping immunity to Ground-type moves due to their Flying type, Levitate Ability, or the effects of Magnet Rise. This also means that those Pokémon are now vulnerable to Arena Trap and entry hazards; Poison-type Pokémon that are usually airborne will remove Toxic Spikes when switched in during the effects of Gravity.

Intense gravity also prevents Pokémon from using the moves Bounce, Fly, Splash, Jump Kick, Hi Jump Kick, and Magnet Rise. If a Pokémon is in the semi-invulnerable turn of Fly or Bounce when Gravity is used, that move is canceled immediately.

Finally, Gravity increases the accuracy of all Pokémon in battle, multiplying accuracies by 5/3.

Generation V

Intense gravity also prevents Pokémon from reaping immunity to Ground-type moves due to the effects of Telekinesis or their held Air Balloon.

Intense gravity also prevents Pokémon from using the moves Telekinesis and Sky Drop. If a Pokémon is in the semi-invulnerable turn of Sky Drop when Gravity is used, that move is canceled immediately.

In Generation V only, due to a glitch, if Gravity is used while two Pokémon are in the semi-invulnerable state of Sky Drop, Gravity will bring the user of Sky Drop down, but the target of Sky Drop will be stuck unable to move in the semi-invulnerable state until the effect of Gravity ends, the user of Sky Drop switches out or is knocked out, or the Pokémon affected by Sky Drop is knocked out. This can only occur in Double and Triple Battles.

Generation VI onward

Intense gravity also prevents Pokémon from using the move Flying Press. Pokémon that lose their immunity to Ground-type moves due to intense gravity can also be affected by terrain effects.

If Gravity is used while two Pokémon are in the semi-invulnerable state of Sky Drop, Gravity will bring both the user and the target of Sky Drop down, and the move Sky Drop is cancelled. The target can now move as normal after being brought down.

If powered up by a Psychium Z into Z-Gravity, the user's Special Attack stat raises one stage.
