Trivia
- Baoppu is one of three elemental monkeys. The other two are the Template:Type2 Yanappu and the Template:Type2 Hiyappu.
- Baoppu is the only Pokémon outside of Generation I Pokémon to evolve via the Fire Stone.
- Baoppu, along with Yanappu and Hiyappu, and their respective evolutions, are the only non-starters that can have a starter-exclusive ability. In Baoppu and Baokkie's case, this is Blaze.
- Baoppu's evolutionary line are the only elemental monkeys that are unable to learn any moves that are otherwise exclusively available from TMs naturally; Yanappu is able to learn Grass Knot, while Hiyappu's family learn Boiling Water.
Origin
Baoppu is based off a monkey and a flame. It, along with his two contemporaries, seem to be based on the three wise monkeys motif. With its hand by its ear, Baoppu represents "Hear No Evil."
Name origin
Baoppu's name may come from バースト bāsuto, meaning burst, and from ape.
