Casey (Japanese: ナナコ Nanako) is a nominally recurring Trainer in the Pokémon anime.

She and her family are fans of the Electabuzz baseball team, and she loves Pokémon with the team's colors, yellow with black stripes. She started with a Chikorita, which she received from Professor Elm of New Bark Town.

In the original Japanese version, Casey speaks with a Kansai dialect, which would suggest that she is from the Pokémon world's equivalent of Osaka, Goldenrod City. Adding to this is Casey's love of the Electabuzz baseball team, an analogue to the real world Osaka baseball team, the Hanshin Tigers. Not only is there a similarity in both Electabuzz and tigers being striped animals, but the Hanshin Tigers are known for having a very loyal fanbase.

Casey has been compared to Ash in his early days of Pokémon training. However, they have different styles of training, and different tastes in Pokémon.

Meganium

Meganium is Casey's first and primary Pokémon. She obtained it as a Chikorita from Professor Elm's lab. It first appeared in The Double Trouble Header. It evolved into Bayleef in The Bug Stops Here, and again into Meganium by Here's Lookin' at You, Elekid!.

Beedrill

Beedrill was initially caught by Ash in the Bug-Catching Contest in The Bug Stops Here. Ash gave it to Casey afterwards because of her love for yellow and black-striped Pokémon.

Elekid

Casey's Elekid

Casey caught Elekid in Here's Lookin' at You, Elekid!, with the help of her Meganium. She was very eager to catch one, as it is the pre-evolved form of her favorite Pokémon, Electabuzz, who is also the mascot of her favorite baseball team.

It is voiced by うえだゆうじ Yūji Ueda in both Japanese and English.

Temporary

Weedle

Casey caught Weedle at the Bug-Catching Contest in The Bug Stops Here. It was released under the rules of the contest.

Status unknown

Rattata

Casey's Pidgey and Rattata were only seen in Casey's battle with Ash in The Double Trouble Header. It is likely that these Pokémon were chosen as a reflection of her being a beginning trainer at the time. While Meganium, Beedrill and Elekid are often seen out of their Poké Balls, Pidgey and Rattata have not been heard of since Casey's debut episode.
