N (Japanese: N (エヌ) N) is a character in Black and White Versions. He is the leader of Team Plasma and aspires to create separate worlds for humans and Pokémon.

In the games

Template:Spoiler N is the only son of Geechisu, the tyrant member of the Seven Sages. As he grew up, he was appointed as the king and leader of Team Plasma. He is antagonistic, but good natured and sees Pokémon as his friends. He appears before the player at several points during the game to battle.

As a kid, he was raised together with Pokémon and had minimal interaction with humans. Geechisu would only let N see Pokémon that have been hurt by humans.

He first appears in Karakusa Town after the rally Team Plasma did to its citizens and challenged the player to a battle. He again appears outside of the Shippou Gym, and later at Raimon City, where he asks the player to talk to him while riding the Ferris Wheel. It is unknown that N is the leader of Unova's criminal organization until after this excursion, when a group of Plasma Grunts address him as their leader. He is again encountered at the Electric Rock Cave and lastly, the Dragon Spiral Tower, where he found ZekromWrong template. See Template:Sup/doc./ReshiramWrong template. See Template:Sup/doc. for his plans.

When the player challenges the Pokémon League, N is found arguing with the Champion Adeku about the Pokémon being used as tools and summoned his castle outside of the building. Cheren and Adeku witness this and ask the player to stop him. After the player enters the castle, N tells the player that his goal is to create separate worlds for both humans and Pokémon. To do this, he summons Zekrom/Reshiram. At the same time, the other dragon is summoned for the player. N encourages the player to battle it.

Once the dragon is caught or defeated, N will challenge the player. After N is defeated, Geechisu appears and reveals he revived Zekrom/Reshiram for his son to use, calling him a disappointment. Team Plasma's motive for stealing Pokémon—separate worlds—is shown to be a lie. Geechisu manipulated N and Team Plasma to ensure that he was the only person in Unova with Pokémon so that he could dominate the region. Adeku and Cheren both hear this. Geechisu battles the player in a rage, despite N's protest. After the battle, Adeku and Cheren arrest Geechisu and take him away.

After the battle, N realizes his mistakes and releases the captured legendary Pokémon. He bids his last farewell to the player and after that, he is never seen in Unova again. After all Seven Sages have been arrested, Looker says that N was seen in a distant land with a Dragon Pokémon.

Trivia

  • The cube hanging off of N's belt is the first iteration of a Menger sponge, a geometric figure that simultaneously has infinite surface area and zero volume.
  • Unlike most recurring characters, N battles with a completely different team in every appearance (except for his Gigigiaru, which may have evolved from the Klink from the fourth battle).
    • The reason he releases them seems to stem from his belief that Pokémon should not be used as tools.
    • This also means that N has owned more Pokémon in the games than any other villainous team leader.
    • N is the only leader of a villainous team to use a Pokémon that's only available via event; his Zoroark.
  • N, Bianca, and Cheren are the only Trainers in Black and White with animated battle sprites.
  • N is the only Trainer from a main series game not fought in a Battle Tower or Battle Frontier who uses a legendary Pokémon on his team, using the opposite version mascot from the player in Black and White.
  • N has used Pokémon of 15 of the 17 types, excluding only Poison and Ghost.
  • In his first three battles, N uses only Pokémon in their first evolutionary stage.
  • N is the only villainous team leader who keeps his Japanese name.
