Olivia is later revealed to be one of the Trainers Professor Kukui invited to act as the Elite Four of the Pokémon League of Alola.
Pokémon Sun, Moon, Ultra Sun, and Ultra Moon
Background
Website blurb: "Olivia is the kahuna of Akala Island, the second island you visit on your island challenge. Her skill is extraordinary, as can only be expected from someone chosen to serve as kahuna at such a young age. Yet she still insists that she is just a normal girl."
Olivia is one of Alola's four island kahunas, who first debuts in Sun and Moon and returns in Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon. As kahuna of Akala Island she helps govern the island and participates in battle for the grand trials on Akala Island.
Story
Once the player and their friends makes their way to Heahea City on Akala Island, Olivia, as well as Mallow, one of Akala's Trial Captains, will greet them. The two were in the middle of Mallow's deliveries before spotting the group. She forms of friendly banter with Professor Kukui and tells Hau and the player that she is excited for their grand trials. Olivia leaves with Mallow. If the player attemps to leave for Diglett's Tunnel before doing all three of Akala's trials, Olivia will prevent the player from going deep within the area. Depending on what trials and areas the player has visted, she'll direct them on where to go.
By the time all three trials have been completed and once the player has visted the Dimensional Research Lab, she will appear in Diglett's Tunnel and tells tells them that she will be waiting at her jewelry shop in Konikoni City. However, making it to her store reveals that she is missing. Her Probopass brings the protagonist a note saying that Olivia is currently doing work for Tapu Lele at the Ruins of Life. Making it to the ruins, she is seen with Lillie, who has managed to get lost and Professor Burnet has brought her to Olivia for protection. Olivia challenges the player to the grand trial, to which Lillie and Nebby happily watch for their own enjoyment. After the battle, Olivia provides the player with a Rockium Z and then questions Lillie's purpose for coming to the ruins despite not being a Pokémon Trainer, where as most people and Pokémon tend to stay away from the tapu due to fear. Olivia is pleased with Lillie's answer of coming for Nebby's sake, and brings the two back to Konikoni before being stopped by Hau who tells the player about their upcoming visit to Aether Paradise. Off screen, Olivia battles Hau for his grand trial. At the Hano Grand Resort, she sees the player and Hau off, giving them some advice, "Your greatest opponent is always yourself. Your greatest allies, the Pokémon beside you." Once a day, after her grand trial, when ordering a Z-set from Mallow's restaurant, Olivia will appear and order for both herself and the player. Additionally, she will give the player the two Heart Scales as part of the dish order, giving the player a total of four.
In Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon, after Necrozma unleashes several Ultra Beasts into Alola, Olivia is briefly seen facing either a Buzzwole in Ultra Sun or a Pheromosain Ultra Moon at the Ruins of Life.
After Professor Kukui has successfully set up the Alola Pokémon League on Mount Lanakila, it is revealed that Olivia was asked to be one of Alola's Elite Four. In Sun and Moon exclusively, Olivia appears in a photograph with her Lycanroc eatign at Mallow's restaurant.
Olivia can be encountered in her own house in Konikoni City in the post-game.

Pokémon
Pokémon
Olivia's Pokémon are kept in Ultras.
Olivia specializes in using Rock-Type Pokémon. Her Lycanroc, who is in its Midnight form, is seen in every battle against the protagonist and is considered her main partner Pokémon. Lycanroc makes further appearance in Sun and Moon's end credits. It returns in other media such as Pokémon Masters EX. She is also affiliated with Nosepass and more prominently, Probopass, also having either of the two except for the Grand Trial match in Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon.

A Probopass is often seen around her Jewelry store and provides the player with directions to her to take on the Grand Trial. This Probopass is different from the Nosepass and Probopass that accompany her in battles. A Single Stufful is found among her fake moving toys.

Olivia's Pokémon in battle are all kept in Ultra Balls.

Main series
::Not yet: "Fine! I don't want to win just because you weren't prepared well enough."

::I'd love to!: "Great! We're gonna give you guys everything we've got! And my partners are all adorable, rugged little Rock types!"
While not mentioned by name, in The Guardian's Challenge, it is revealed that Kiawe completed Olivia's grand trial and received a Z-Ring from her prior to the start of Pokémon the Series: Sun & Moon.

* Upon being defeated
She partially appeared in Young Kiawe Had a Farm! during a flashback, when Kiawe told Ash that the Z-Ring and Firium Z he had received from Olivia was his grandfather's. She was also mentioned in A Glaring Rivalry! when Gladion revealed that he obtained his Rockium Z from completing her grand trial.
:"How lovely."

* After being defeated
Olivia physically debuted in The Island Whisperer!, where she traveled to Melemele Island and visited the Pokémon School, taking Ash and ashcl to visit Akala Island. She continued to appear during throughout Ash and his classmates' stay on the island, first in Treasure Hunt, Akala Style!, where she organized a class involving treasure hunting using Stoutland Search. During the treasure hunt, Lana found a Sparkling Stone, which Olivia took to be converted into a Z-Ring. The finished Z-Ring was returned to Lana in the next episode.
:"Diamonds only sparkle after coal is pushed to its absolute limit."
:"You guys are the best! Here. The Rock Z-Crystal... The Rockium Z is all yours!"
:"The Rock-type Z-Power...you have to move like this to draw it out! Watch carefully, because the hip movement is crucial!"
:"Use it well. The Rock type... It's hard. Sturdy. Rugged and physically strong. So nothing like me at all! I guess opposites really do attract."

:"By the way, Lillie, this might be a weird question, but... Why even come to the Ruins of Life if you're not a Trainer?"
In Currying Favor and Flavor!, Olivia sent Ash and his classmates on a search for ingredients for the famous "Akala Curry". Ash was paired up with Mallow, with their search eventually leading them to Lush Jungle, where Ash was challenged by Totem Lurantis. After Ash defeated Lurantis, Olivia showed up and revealed that the entire search had actually been a part of Ash's trial, and he now qualified to take on her grand trial.
:"You certainly don't see Pokémon like that every day. Tapu Lele may be called the guardian deity of our island, but it can also run wild at times. Regular Pokémon normally avoid the guardians at all costs... Unless they are strong enough to face the tapu themselves, that is."
:"Wait, that can't be right..."
:"I think your journey will hold many surprises. And I hope it holds many joys."
:"I'll take you back to town, Lillie. You're doing everything you can for your partner, even though you're not a Trainer. I like that kind of person, so I can't help but give you a hand!"

;Akala Outskirts
In Trials and Determinations!, she battled Ash in his Akala Island grand trial at the Ruins of Life, using Lycanroc and Probopass in a Double Battle against Rowlet and Rockruff. Despite their two opponents giving them a lot of trouble, Rowlet finally managed to defeat Probopass with Bloom Doom, only for Rockruff to impulsively attack and knock out Rowlet out of its desire to battle Lycanroc alone. Despite this setback, Rockruff was still able to defeat its evolved form, winning the battle for Ash. After the battle, Olivia gave Ash a Rockium Z and told him that Rockruff's behavior was a sign of it being ready to evolve soon.
:"Ooh, the Aether Foundation? I'm not sure what he wants with you, <player>, but why not go find out? If you don't want to keep him waiting, then Charizard should get you there in no time. The Hano Grand Resort lies just over the bridge near the Dimensional Research Lab."
:"You're just Hau, right? And what's wrong with that! Who cares if you're Hala's grandson? Now show me what Hau can do!"

;Hano Grand Resort
In The Professors' New Adventure!, Olivia attended the wedding of Professor Kukui and Professor Burnet.
:"As a kahuna, I look after all the trial-goers who come to my island. They're like my own children. Not that I've got any—I've never even gotten married."
:"Listen up, you two. Your greatest opponent is always yourself. Your greatest allies, the Pokémon beside you."

;Pokémon League
She reappeared in flashbacks in Some Kind of Laziness! and Not Caving Under Pressure!.
* Upon entering the Rock Chamber
:"Welcome to the Rock Chamber!"

;First battle
In Full Moon and Many Arms!, Olivia was seen praying at the Ruins of Life while she waited for the Manalo Festival to begin. In Securing the Future!, she joined the rest of Alola in restoring Necrozma to its List of Pokémon with form differences by lending it some of her Z-Power.
* Before battle
:"No introduction needed here. Time to battle me, Olivia!"

* Upon being defeated
In Heart of Fire! Heart of Stone!, Olivia met up with Ash and his classmates again when they visited Akala alongside Brock and Misty, who were visiting Alola. Brock became infatuated with her, resulting in Misty dragging him away. She agreed to a battle and used Lycanroc against Brock but the battle was interrupted by TRT who attempted to steal the Pokémon. Brock and Olivia avoided capture and teamed up to attack Team Rocket with a heart shaped Continental Crush.
:"Really lovely...both you and your Pokémon..."

* After being defeated
In The Dealer of Destruction!, Olivia, her fellow kahunas, and Lusamine helped Professor Kukui reveal the Alola League to the public.
:"I don't see the same look in your eyes that I saw when we first met on Akala Island. Have you had some experiences that you'll carry with you in your heart forever? Well, it's time for you to move on."

;Upon entering the Hall of Fame for the first time
In A Recipe for Success!, Olivia was visiting Aina's Kitchen when Abe asked Mallow to collect some ingredients from Oranguru. Mallow was gone for a while helping out at the Café, so Olivia started helping Abe at the Kitchen and was later joined by Ash and the rest of his classmates. Olivia later watched as Mallow returned with a Grassium Z given by Guardian deities (anime), and a Z-Ring given by Oranguru. She then cleaned and decorated the Z-Ring before giving it back to Mallow for her to use.
:"Yup! That's precisely why he/she and his/her Pokémon were able to combine that strength to emerge victorious!"

;Rematch battle
In Battle Royal 151!, Olivia appeared alongside her fellow kahunas, acting as a referee during the Battle Royal preliminary round of the Manalo Conference. In Battling Besties!, Olivia refereed the second pair of first-round matches: one between Hau and Samson Oak, and the other between Mallow and Lana. From Imitation Is the Sincerest Form of Strategy! to The Road to The Semifinals!, she continued observing the Manalo Conference battles. She then refereed the semifinals battle between Kiawe and Gladion in The Final Four! and Getting Down to The Ire!. Afterwards, in Final Rivals! and Enter the Champion!, she watched the finals battle between Ash and Gladion in the stands. After the final battle ended, Olivia attended the award ceremony for the winner, only for it to be interrupted when a Ultra Beasts (anime) arrived at the stadium through an Ultra Wormhole.
* Before battle
:"I won't be holding back! My Rock-type Pokémon will grind you to dust! Your puny little Pokémon are going to go down in one hit! Hah!"

* Upon being defeated
In Z-Move Showdown!, Olivia and the other island kahunas joined forces to battle Guzzlord. The guardian deities later came to their assistance, using their powers to keep Guzzlord in place long enough for Olivia and the others to fire off their Z-Moves. The combined attacks launched Guzzlord back into the wormhole it came out of, successfully sending it back into Ultra Space.
:"Since you've become Champion, both you and your Pokémon have a certain level of polish."

* After being defeated
In Exhibition Unmasked!, Fiery Surprises!, and From Z to Shining Z!, Olivia watched the exhibition game between Ash and Professor Kukui.
:"What a spectacular Trainer you are! Now when the children of Alola finish their island challenge, they can visit the Pokémon League to try to become the Champion! The Trainers of Alola will become even stronger!"

* If talked to again...
In Dreams of the Sun and Moon!, Olivia acted as the referee during Ash's battle against Kiawe. After the battle, Olivia spoke with Ash and motivated him to travel around the world.
** If battled first
::"You should get moving. You still have three more rooms left, right?"
:* If battled second
::"Don't stop now. You still have two more rooms left, right?"
:* If battled third
::"I'll stay here and wonder why you left me waiting so long for your challenge..."
:* If battled last
::"Let me guess...you're the type who likes to save the most delicious bite for the end of the meal?"

Character
* Olivia's house
Olivia is highly energetic and sweet by nature. However she is also very clumsy, constantly getting knocked to the ground during simple tasks like walking up the stairs or opening a door. She also possesses the unique ability to communicate with Pokémon on a different level than most people, giving her a natural affinity even with highly guarded and aggressive Pokémon such as Kiawe's Turtonator and Ash's Litten.
:"I may be an island kahuna, but I'm also just a regular woman, you know."

:"Hi, can I get a table?"
:"Oh! Well, if it isn't little <player>! Well, as long as we're both here, why don't we sit together, hm? And I'll have whatever he/she is having."
:"This right here! This is it! I may live on my own, but sometimes even I need that familiar taste of home cooking. Dig in, <player>, before it gets cold!"
:"Ah... That was delicious. Maybe it's about time I find someone to cook for myself, huh? Oh! But look at your plate, <player>! You've barely touched a thing! Local flavors not your thing?"
:"This one's on me. I like to see a boy/girl with a good appetite. Here, take these freebie Heart Scales they're giving away."
:"See you around, <player>. I do love a boy/girl with a good appetite!"

While not mentioned by name, in The Guardian's Challenge, it is revealed that Kiawe completed Olivia's grand trial and received a Z-Ring from her prior to the start of the Sun & Moon.

She appeared in person in The Island Whisperer!, in which she traveled to Melemele Island and visited the Pokémon School, taking Ash and ashcl to visit Akala Island.

In Trials and Determinations!, she battled against Ash in his Akala Island grand trial at the Ruins of Life, using Lycanroc and Probopass in a Double Battle against Rowlet and Rockruff.

In The Professors' New Adventure!, Olivia attended the wedding of Professor Kukui and Professor Burnet.

She reappeared in flashbacks in Some Kind of Laziness! and Not Caving Under Pressure!.

Olivia reappeared in SM088, where she was seen praying at the Ruins of Life while she waited for the Manalo Festival to begin.

In SM090, Olivia joined the rest of Alola in restoring Recurring wild Pokémon in the anime to its List of Pokémon with form differences by lending it some of her Z-Power.

She appears to be a very clumsy person, constantly getting knocked to the ground over simple tasks like walking up the stairs or opening a door. She also possesses the unique ability to communicate with Pokémon on a different level than most people, giving her a natural affinity even with highly guarded and aggressive Pokémon such as Kiawe's Turtonator and Ash's Litten.

Olivia debuts in The Delivery of Rotom and the Girl. She is first seen with her fellow Kahunas, Hala and Nanu, at Malie Garden, where they discussed the sightings of the guardian deities around Alola. They speculate that the normally reclusive guardian deities appearing before people must have been caused by them being angered by something.
Olivia debuted in The Delivery of Rotom and the Girl. She was first seen with Hala and Nanu at Malie Garden, where they discussed the sightings of the guardian deities around Alola. They speculated that the normally reclusive guardians appearing before people was a sign that they were angered by something.

In Pokémon Move Specialist Professor Kukui, Olivia and Nanu battled each other to test a stage for an upcoming festival in Iki Town. Nanu teased Olivia about her romance troubles, which angered her into using a Z-Move. Nanu tried retaliating with his own, but both were stopped by Hala. The three decided the festival would be used to test Alolan youths by having they battle each other. The strongest participants would travel around Alola's four islands, imitating the island challenge, in order to calm the guardian deities' rage.

In The Decision and the Tournament of Six, Moon helped Olivia determine the festival tournament roster. At one point, they encountered Lillie, a girl entered in the tournament due to a misunderstanding. When Lillie tried to explain the situation, Nebby escaped from her bag and ran off. Moon and Lillie chased after Nebby to Mahalo Trail while Olivia went to tell inform Hala. After returning, Olivia witnessed Tapu Koko rescuing Moon and Nebby from falling in the water before leaving. Olivia offered to have Lillie withdrawn from the tournament, but Moon decided to take her place instead.

In Pokémon Move Specialist Professor Kukui, Hala refereed a battle between Olivia and Nanu in order to test a stage to be used in an upcoming festival at Iki Town. During the battle, Nanu teased Olivia about her romance troubles, which angered Olivia into using her Z-Power. When Nanu retaliated with his own Z-Move, Hala interrupted the battle. Embarrassed by her outburst, Olivia apologized to Hala. The Kahunas decided that they will use the festival to have Alolan youths battle against each other. The strongest participants would travel around Alola's four islands, imitating the island challenge, in order to calm the guardian deities' rage.
In Thieving and Boss Crabominable, Olivia, Hala, and Nanu met at Hala's house, where they decided to name Hapu the next kahuna of Poni Island. Olivia and Nanu decided to head to their respective islands to help the Trial Captains fend off the Ultra Beasts that appeared in Alola. Before they could leave, a Kartana and Buzzwole burst into the building and attacked. Hala decided to fight the two beasts alone and told Olivia and Nanu to go defend their islands.

In PASM04, Olivia was tasked with determining the placement of the participants of the festival tournament. She was assisted by Moon, who wrote down the placement of each participant based on the number on the packaging of the malasada they randomly received. After going through several participants, Olivia and Moon encountered Lillie, a girl who was entered in the tournament on a misunderstanding. When Lillie tried to explain the situation, Nebby escaped from Lillie's bag and ran off. While Moon and Lillie chase after Nebby to Mahalo Trail, Olivia went off to inform Hala. After returning, Olivia witnessed Moon and Nebby being rescued from falling into the water by Tapu Koko. Afterward, Lillie revealed that she was entered in the tournament as a mistake due to Nebby trying to escape from her bag at the wrong moment. Olivia offered to have Lillie withdrawn from the tournament, but Moon decided to take Lillie's place instead.
In Adventure in the Dark Dimension, the island kahunas and Trial Captains were revealed to have spent six months on Exeggutor Island training to prepare for another clash with the Ultra Beasts. At some point, Olivia made a Z-Ring for Hau. Once the training was finished, Olivia and Kahili left to join the others and deliver a repaired Z-Ring Kiawe. While they traveled, Kahili revealed a suitcase full of Z-Crystals she had spent the last six months gathering. One of the Z-Crystals was a Lycanium Z, which Olivia had never seen before.

Later, Olivia, Hala, and Nanu met at Hala's house, where they decided to make Hapu the next Kahuna of Poni Island. Afterward, Olivia and Nanu decided to head back to their respective islands to assist the Trial Captains fend off the Ultra Beasts that appeared in Alola. Just before Nanu could open the door to leave, a Kartana and Buzzwole burst into the building. Olivia and Nanu offered to help Hala battle the two beasts, but he refused and told them to defend their islands instead.
After meeting with the others, Sophocles and Molayne took everyone to Mount Lanakila, where a wormhole had opened up earlier. Shortly after they arrived, their ship was attacked by a group of Aether Foundation Employees and their Ultra Beasts. During the battle, Olivia was assisted by Tapu Koko, who transported her to Melemele Island in order to battle with Guzzlord.

In addition to being Akala's kahuna, Olivia owns a jewelry and accessory store in her hometown of Konikoni City. Despite being chosen as a kahuna at such a young age, Olivia maintains that she is just an average girl. The player eventually battles her in the grand trial of Akala.

Olivia is one of Alola's four island kahunas, who first debuts in Pokémon Sun and Moon and returns in Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon.

In Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon, after Necrozma unleashes several Ultra Beasts into Alola, Olivia is briefly seen facing either a Buzzwole in Ultra Sun or a Pheromosain Ultra Moon at the Ruins of Life.

After Professor Kukui has successfully set up the Alola Pokémon League on Mount Lanakila, it is revealed that Olivia was asked to be one of Alola's Elite Four. In Pokémon Sun and Moon exclusively, Olivia appears in a photograph with her Lycanroc eatign at Mallow's restaurant.

Olivia can be encountered in her own house in Konikoni City in the post-game.

Pokémon

Olivia in the anime

While not mentioned by name, in The Guardian's Challenge, it is revealed that Kiawe completed Olivia's grand trial and received a Z-Ring from her prior to the start of Pokémon the Series: Sun & Moon.

Olivia physically debuted in The Island Whisperer!, where she traveled to Melemele Island and visited the Pokémon School, taking Ash and his classmates to visit Akala Island.

In The Professors' New Adventure!, Olivia attended the wedding of Professor Kukui and Professor Burnet.

She reappeared in flashbacks in Some Kind of Laziness! and Not Caving Under Pressure!.

In Full Moon and Many Arms!, Olivia was seen praying at the Ruins of Life while she waited for the Manalo Festival to begin. In Securing the Future!, she joined the rest of Alola in restoring Necrozma to its true form by lending it some of her Z-Power.

In Heart of Fire! Heart of Stone!, Olivia met up with Ash and his classmates again when they visited Akala alongside Brock and Misty, who were visiting Alola. Brock became infatuated with her, resulting in Misty dragging him away. She agreed to a battle and used Lycanroc against Sudowoodo but the battle was interrupted by Team Rocket who attempted to steal the Pokémon. Brock and Olivia avoided capture and teamed up to attack Team Rocket with a heart shaped Continental Crush.

In The Dealer of Destruction!, Olivia, her fellow kahunas, and Lusamine helped Professor Kukui reveal the Alola League to the public.

Olivia later watched as Mallow returned with a Grassium Z given by Tapu Koko, and a Z-Ring given by Oranguru. She then cleaned and decorated the Z-Ring before giving it back to Mallow for her to use.

After the final battle ended, Olivia attended the award ceremony for the winner, only for it to be interrupted when a Guzzlord arrived at the stadium through an Ultra Wormhole.

In Exhibition Unmasked!, Fiery Surprises!, and From Z to Shining Z!, Olivia watched the exhibition match between Ash and Professor Kukui.

In Dreams of the Sun and Moon!, Olivia acted as the referee during Ash's battle against Kiawe. After the battle, Olivia spoke with Ash and motivated him to travel around the world.

Character

Olivia is highly energetic and sweet by nature. However she is also very clumsy, constantly getting knocked to the ground during simple tasks like walking up the stairs or opening a door. She also possesses the unique ability to communicate with Pokémon on a different level than most people, giving her a natural affinity even with highly guarded and aggressive Pokémon such as Kiawe's Turtonator and Ash's Litten.

GOTCHA!

Olivia briefly appeared in GOTCHA!.

In the manga

Pokémon Adventures
