Time for HGSS. Fill my page with questions. Yay. TTEchidna 03:04, 8 March 2010 (UTC)

Name Change Reminder

I want to remind you about changing my name, now that HGSS is out. Instead of ZeroLatios, I want to change to TyplosionBlaze. I want to change my name because:

1. I like Typlosion more than Latios now.
2. I've been OBSESSED with SoulSilver.

SilverCharmeleon 07:24, 30 March 2010 (UTC)

GUUHH

504's are busting out at me all over. SilverCharmeleon 07:24, 30 March 2010 (UTC)

Well first off: SIGN YOUR MESSAGES. Might be a bad idea for me to change it now, but bug me... erm, next Monday, maybe. We're still getting 503's and 504's all over the place and I don't wanna kill the wiki. TTEchidna 07:25, 30 March 2010 (UTC)

Computer-pedia problems

I've been having problems with my computer. We got a new computer for Christmas and it doesn't function with the wiki properly. ends of pages are cut off, the side toolbar is gone, and the tabs at the top go missing. Thanks for helping.--Frostagin 21:56, 30 March 2010 (UTC)

Likely your browser or internet connection. What're you using, some default garbage like Safari or IE? Get Firefox, you should be golden. If not, check your computer's settings. I've never seen there to be a problem, even on school computers, though, so I can't get my head around it. TTEchidna 00:00, 31 March 2010 (UTC)
Yeah, try Firefox, Opera or Chrome. It'll be better for ya overall. Site doesn't work in those browsers? Most likely the web developers' fault. ;-) ポケモンあいこうか 10:41, 31 March 2010 (UTC)
I 'do' use Firefox, never that piece-of-crap IE. It's probably the computer, because this is a new one. However, using full screen seems to help. --Frostagin 14:58, 1 April 2010 (UTC)
Well, check your Firefox prefs... TTEchidna 18:49, 1 April 2010 (UTC)

Since I can't edit its talk page... (Template:Sidegame)

The recruitment rate parameters for the MD games need to be changed that 'Evolve' can be entered and it will get rid of the percent sign.

Other than that, it's grate. - Chosen of Mana - 01:07, 31 March 2010 (UTC)

Oh I hate side games... Should work fine. TTEchidna 02:21, 31 March 2010 (UTC)

Question about a stub

Is this article still a stub like it says it is on the Main Page? If so could you tell me what to fix? Thanks .insomniac. 07:21, 31 March 2010 (UTC)

Doesn't seem to be. Changing Main Page! TTEchidna 09:42, 31 March 2010 (UTC)
Sweet. Also one more thing, is the synopsis really still incomplete or should that be removed O_o I spent like an hour writing it...I thought it was pretty decent in length and information .insomniac. 09:49, 31 March 2010 (UTC)
If you wrote the synopsis to completion, DUH REMOVE IT. TTEchidna 09:51, 31 March 2010 (UTC)
FFFFFFFF- sorry should have been common sense! Removing it now, thanks for your help dude .insomniac. 09:53, 31 March 2010 (UTC)
Now go fix AG. I don't cover that crap because I hate Hoenn. TTEchidna 09:54, 31 March 2010 (UTC)
;_; all in due time sir. I will probably get on that later today, I have to find the episode online and etc. But I will bookmark it and work on it the best I can. .insomniac. 09:56, 31 March 2010 (UTC)

Border-radius

It seems that you're implementing the strings for every compatible browser in the wiki. I must say that as an Opera user, I'm satisfied that I don't have to necessarly use Firefox to have border-radius, even though it still isn't implemented on the whole wiki. Mind if I help? Just tell me what I have to add/change and I'll happily do it. ;-) ポケモンあいこうか 10:47, 31 March 2010 (UTC)

Well, we have a couple templates, {{border-radius}}, , that'll replace all calls of "-moz-border-radius: **px" on templates and stuff... I wanna try and make them more easily called, though. TTEchidna 20:40, 31 March 2010 (UTC)

Site errors

Are apparent log outs part of the set of predictable errors after the editing of the wiki has been restored? That is, when I open pages, the info sent to the browser is that I'm logged out even though I'm logged in. Refreshing the page seems to solve the issue. ポケモンあいこうか 10:54, 31 March 2010 (UTC)

Might be your cookies as well. TTEchidna 20:49, 31 March 2010 (UTC)

*Yawn*

Well, I love what you've done with the place. The server's still a little slow though....=P --Theryguy512 01:39, 1 April 2010 (UTC)

Yo Ppl R Scared Yo!!!

I understand why editing once per day is good on the servers (I mean that, I am so happy a limit has been established), but the new users aren't getting welcomed because ppl don't want to waste their daily edit on some new user. Can that be an exception or something? (Or has it been an exception and no one knew that?)

--@PrL F0oLz!!! (This Message Is True Though) Landfish7 01:54, 1 April 2010 (UTC)

The one-per-day edit is for the userspace, not for user talk... you can still welcome people. ▫▪Ťïňắ 01:55, 1 April 2010 (UTC)

My Preferences Question

Is there a limit to how many times we can edit "My Preferences" or does that not affect the server at all? --ιɴsσмиιαc 08:20, 1 April 2010 (UTC)

Uhhh... not that I know. Don't go crazy. TTEchidna 08:22, 1 April 2010 (UTC)

Edit Request

Hi TTE. I'm sorry to bother you. I've been having tons of issues with the Hyper Beam page, and I've been trying to put in the endnames for the endcodes of DP152 'Battle Finale of Legends!'. I've been trying extremely hard to get it through, but it never works. Do you think you could give it a try? Dialga, Palkia, and Jupiter's Skuntank is what needs to be done. Please adn thank you. Littlmiget123 19:13, 1 April 2010 (UTC)

Email me the specific edits. TTEchidna 22:25, 1 April 2010 (UTC)
It's sent. Thank you. Littlmiget123 01:47, 2 April 2010 (UTC)
Did you get it? Littlmiget123 18:56, 2 April 2010 (UTC)
Been busy. I'll check it tonight. TTEchidna 20:08, 2 April 2010 (UTC)
Oh, that's fine. I was just wondering because sometimes my e-mails don't go through. Littlmiget123 21:35, 2 April 2010 (UTC)
Thank you very much for doing the edit. I really appriciate you taking time out of your schedule to do such a small thing. For some reason, the Hyper Beam page does not work much for me, even when Bulbapedia wasn't having its problems. Thanks again. Littlmiget123 00:49, 3 April 2010 (UTC)
Believe me, it was hell to get it to go through. TTEchidna 01:00, 3 April 2010 (UTC)
So you had trouble as well? Is it because the page is so big? Littlmiget123 01:09, 3 April 2010 (UTC)
Nope. 504's. TTEchidna 01:41, 3 April 2010 (UTC)
Hi, I'm really sorry to ask you of something else, but I've been trying to put 'endcode=Present' at the end of Dawn's Cyndaquil's section on the move Swift, but it won't go through F|. I've been trying for a half an hour, literally. Can you please try?
Even for me it'd possibly take a half hour to get through. You sure it didn't make it even despite a 503/504? Adding the Dialga, Palkia, and Skuntank thing was a major pita... TTEchidna 20:30, 5 April 2010 (UTC)
I'm sure, every time I would get a 504, I would click refresh on my watchlist on another tab. That's why I'm asking, it was something so small as 'endcode=Present' just once. If you want, I'll try again later. Littlmiget123 20:39, 5 April 2010 (UTC)
Ctrl + R on the 504'd tab, over and over, like a frozen sledgehammer. TTEchidna 20:42, 5 April 2010 (UTC)
Lol, okay, I'll try that. Littlmiget123 21:03, 5 April 2010 (UTC)
I got it. That only took... one try, lol. I guess I just had to wait a while. Littlmiget123 21:07, 5 April 2010 (UTC)
Well there you go then. TTEchidna 21:09, 5 April 2010 (UTC)

Duh? TTEchidna 20:04, 2 April 2010 (UTC)

Also...

Why the hell do we need a Save the Shieldon page? It's just DP045 crammed into a kid's book. SilverCharmeleon 18:18, 2 April 2010 (UTC)

Completeness? I dunno. Bring it up on its talk page or with the article's creator. TTEchidna 20:07, 2 April 2010 (UTC)
It hasn't been created yet, it's on the wanted articles list. SilverCharmeleon 07:14, 10 April 2010 (UTC)
Hrm. I'd discuss it with... whoever heads the project books are part of. TTEchidna 07:18, 10 April 2010 (UTC)
It is now a part of Project Merchandise which is led by Virtual-Z. We really do need the page for completeness though, and it will get made eventually whether you make it or not. –MasterKenobi 07:32, 10 April 2010 (UTC)

"Anime locations in need of images" Category!

Hey TT, I have a question related to "Anime locations in need of images". How can we provide the images/headers of those anime locations which were never even shown in the anime? Crimson City, Frodomar City, Gerbera Town and Sage Town are included in the category. If there header/image is missing and if they were shown in the anime then it's fine to include them in the category but how can we ever find the images of these articles if they were just mentioned in the anime (not shown). In that case, these articles will remain in that condition + in that category forever and our site will remain incomplete. I am saying that we should remove those articles from that category and only include those articles which were shown in the anime literally and we don't have an image of those. What do you think? ♫♪AdyNiz♪♫ 02:33, 3 April 2010 (UTC)

Obviously. If they can never be removed from the category, don't have them there. TTEchidna 02:43, 3 April 2010 (UTC)
This is kind of dumbish and weird but I can't find that specific category in those articles. The only categories which are mentioned in those articles are " Anime locations, Kanto locations, Cities ". So, how to remove those articles from that category? Can I bother you to do it please? Thank you. ♫♪AdyNiz♪♫ 03:20, 3 April 2010 (UTC)
It's tied to the infobox. And when linking categories, use the {{cat}} link template. TTEchidna 03:33, 3 April 2010 (UTC)
Got it, TT. ♫♪AdyNiz♪♫ 10:59, 3 April 2010 (UTC)

It's set to do a random one everyday. DUR! He has no control. MaverickNate 14:33, 4 April 2010 (UTC)

He has no control? But this is his talk page. How does the random Pokémon work? SeanWheeler 14:42, 4 April 2010 (UTC)

It's a randomly calculated number.--MisterE13 14:47, 4 April 2010 (UTC)

How do you people know? Have you been illegally editing TTEchidna's page? SeanWheeler 15:20, 4 April 2010 (UTC)

No, you can look without saving it.--MisterE13 15:23, 4 April 2010 (UTC)

Could you take a look...

Here please and follow the Prev/Nexts I'd love your input on these ideas I've been kicking around for a while.--MisterE13 16:12, 4 April 2010 (UTC)

O_O ummm... They're called evoboxes. Cause they're suopposed to show, umm, you know, evolutions. --electAbuzzzz 17:23, 4 April 2010 (UTC)
Still eh about breedables like Volbeat and Illumise and the Nidoran, but I do like the trio setup somewhat. TTEchidna 19:15, 4 April 2010 (UTC)
...In the evolution section?!? --electAbuzzzz 19:33, 4 April 2010 (UTC)
Yeah, I remebered you toying with the idea. It's not like they're ever going to evolve. What about fossils and masters?--MisterE13 19:36, 4 April 2010 (UTC)
Considering I'm planning to totally revamp the Pokémon pages themselves before Gen V ideally... TTEchidna 19:37, 4 April 2010 (UTC)
We have Manaphy and Phione's relationship which are breedable... Either way, I guess I'll just keep these in the old userpace then?--MisterE13 01:26, 5 April 2010 (UTC)
Manaphy and Phione are a special pair. Phione can only be obtained by breeding Phione. The others don't work that way. TTEchidna 03:19, 5 April 2010 (UTC)

OpenSearch not working

The Bulbapedia OpenSearch browser plugin is not working in Firefox v3.6.3. I like to be able to search sites using these search plugins because it is quick and convenient. It comes as standard with all MediaWiki distributions. The error when trying to add the plug-in to the browser is as follows:

Firefox could not download the search plugin from:
http://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/w/opensearch_desc.php

I hope you can fix this problem or point the attention of someone who can to this problem! Thanks :) --Bilge 17:36, 5 April 2010 (UTC)

Hmm. Mine still works, oddly, probably because I installed it before I updated from Firefox 2, even. I'll take it to someone. TTEchidna 20:29, 5 April 2010 (UTC)
It appears this issue has been forgotten about as it remains broken. --Bilge 11:54, 28 April 2010 (UTC)
Mine still works, however. We can't seem to figure out what's up with it. TTEchidna 12:31, 28 April 2010 (UTC)

SO SORRY

for hurting Typhlosion, but I had a quick question on the Category:(Insert Pokémon) (TCG) categories, like Category:Aron (TCG), for example. Why exactly do we have them?? They are exactly like the (Insert Pokémon) (TCG) pages, but only with less info and no neat looking charts. Sorry for bothering you on a weird question and everything, --Smartkidhen 20:23, 5 April 2010 (UTC)

They keep the pages organized. They make sure we don't miss anything. Why do we have the Fire-type Pokémon category? They're listed on the Template:Type2 page, right? Same with a buttload of other categories. If we didn't have those categories, and we had every Pokémon card page, we might miss some of the ones in the listing, because there's 6000-some cards and thst's not exactly a fun job to find which card you missed by simply looking through every single expansion. TTEchidna 20:27, 5 April 2010 (UTC)

Your Route colors

Where would these be tested, and how so? Cyan Ryan(talk) 02:43, 6 April 2010 (UTC)

Tested? They're tested now. Used? See what links to the locationcolor templates. They'd be for the route infobox and location infobox revamps. TTEchidna 02:53, 6 April 2010 (UTC)

PokémonInfobox Odex

Please fix {{PokémonInfobox}}. Ranger 3 has two browsers, one in the present and one in the past. The one in the present follows the standard "R-###" (like R-001 for Pidgey) while the past follows "N-###" (like N-001 for Piplup). There are exceptions though, like some are only available in the past. Deoxys cannot be found in the present, but it's available in the past with the number "X-001" (it's the only one with X-###). Those only available with the missions obtain via Wi-Fi follow "S-###" (like S-001 for Heatran). In short, present: R-### and S-### & past: N-### and X-###. tc²₆tc26 02:20, 7 April 2010 (UTC)

...the hell were they thinking. Augh, I'm just gonna make four separate listings. TTEchidna 02:25, 7 April 2010 (UTC)
Just make X-### and S-### like SP in Almia's browser. Only one uses X and six use S. tc²₆tc26 02:27, 7 April 2010 (UTC)
In all honesty, Oblivia should have two cells at least, considering it has two listings which are nothing alike. TTEchidna 02:54, 7 April 2010 (UTC)
Thanks for the fix, but please fix the past. Deoxys's should only be X-001, not N-X-001. Thanks. tc²₆tc26 03:00, 7 April 2010 (UTC)
Head. Hit. Keyboard.
I'm gonna just revamp the entire infobox. Stupid. Ranger. Games. TTEchidna 03:43, 7 April 2010 (UTC)

Sinjoh Return/Ethan

A couple things...

Regarding your commentary in the video about returning to Sinjoh Ruins, an “ordinary person” actually can get and use imagery from NASA and the Space Telescope Science Institute( Hubble stuff). It’s mostly public domain. Per some U.S. law( possibly something in the constitution?) many/most works of the United States government can’t be copyrighted, and can be used freely, even for commercial applications as long as A) they don’t contain identifiable images of a person or another copyrighted work and B) the usage does not imply the endorsement of the product by any U.S. government agency.

Also, if you have a moment, could you take a look at the talk page where we are discussing infobox colors for Gold“Ethan”? I think there are several legitimate reasons for leaving them gold, but there are credible( though not terribly compelling) arguments for changing them to soulsilver color, which was done recently. --LaprasBoi 02:30, 7 April 2010 (UTC)

Psh. Well considering how they've walked all over it lately, thanks to Disney and some of the other corporate giants, copyright lasts for life + 70 in most instances. So who knows.
As for Ethan. Yeah no. Don't bother, Gold, Jimmy, and Ethan should keep the same colors. Consistency! TTEchidna 02:40, 7 April 2010 (UTC)

Erm...... should I welcome them or not? I wanna say no, but it's your call. R.A. Hunter Blade 03:54, 7 April 2010 (UTC)

No. Frigging. Idea. I don't do the side game thing. We'll get to it eventually; stuff changes for the English release, so we'll be better prepared to do so when that arrives, really. TTEchidna 04:45, 7 April 2010 (UTC)

How does one create a new account, and how can we disable this function? ht14 21:11, 7 April 2010 (UTC)

HGSS Eyecatches

Hey TTE, I was working on fixing up the new Eyecatches for Pokemon HeartGold and SoulSilver Version. An example of one is the one on the Bell Tower page with the two Ho-Oh looking statues that changes as the day progresses as that is how we have it set up. Well, it turns out someone wanted to get a bit clever and give us a different set of Eyecatches for the Dark Cave with one set having a Wobuffet on it for the Blackthorn City Entrance and the other set having a Dunsparce on it for Violet City Entrance. I don't know exactly if you want to incorporate all eight, but I was wondering what you thought. Thanks. –MasterKenobi 05:24, 10 April 2010 (UTC)

Ugh that'll be a toughie. TTEchidna 06:57, 10 April 2010 (UTC)
Well here is what I was thinking. We use the Violet entrance as the usual times of 3, 9, 16, and 19 then we use the Blackthorn entrance for the ones in between those two. Let me try it out first and then we can see what you think of it. –MasterKenobi 07:06, 10 April 2010 (UTC)
Hm. Or we could have them alternate by the day of the year? {{#switch: {{#expr: {{#time: z}} mod 2}}|0=Violet|1=Blackthorn}}?
I just went with the simple way for now of alternating them throughout the day. We can always edit or fix it as needed but all of the eyecatch pics are uploaded to the archive for now. –MasterKenobi 07:32, 10 April 2010 (UTC)
Under old style or the new style I'm developing? Because... blah. TTEchidna 07:33, 10 April 2010 (UTC)
Old style, I can always update it to the new style though it shouldn't be all that hard. –MasterKenobi 07:36, 10 April 2010 (UTC)
Means just a page move. We might redo Archives permissions soon. TTEchidna 07:39, 10 April 2010 (UTC)

That would be very nice. I have a certain Sprout Tower page that is going to look a bit drab until we get a couple of the images moved to their correct places. -MasterKenobi 07:42, 10 April 2010 (UTC)

Colours question

Hey TTE, I just have a question reguarding the colours on this template (the pink and green): are there light/dark versions of those colours? I'm making something, and I need light/dark versions of that pink and that green. Thanks たかはりい! 00:20, 11 April 2010 (UTC)

No, there are no official dark or light colors of original series Red and Green colors. Don't make them either. TTEchidna 00:28, 11 April 2010 (UTC)
Oh, okay. Thanks anyway. たかはりい! 00:33, 11 April 2010 (UTC)

Name change possible?

I'm not entirely sure, but is it possible that I could get a name change to perhaps 'Rai Marshall'? If not then that is okay too. Thank you kindly. Mudkipchan 06:27, 11 April 2010 (UTC)

Not right now! No CentralAuth to kill your global account, so I couldn't do it properly. Plus the server's kinda 504ing every time I even try to make an edit, so I doubt a name change would do anything more than bring the whole damn thing down for a week. TTEchidna 06:31, 11 April 2010 (UTC)
Ah, I see. Well makes sense, a name change would do quite a bit to a server, I'd imagine. Well like I said, it's fine either way. Mudkipchan 06:38, 11 April 2010 (UTC)
Blazing... echidna... anger... Damn these 503's. Damn them to hell. If Zorua and Zoroark are #503 and #504... my god will I get a sick pleasure out of blasting them to smithereens every time I see them. TTEchidna 06:52, 11 April 2010 (UTC)

Background color!

I'm having trouble adding a background to my signature. I want a black background! Here is my signature below whenever someone gets the freetime to help me out. Of course I don't want this to be anyone's top concern since it isn't helpful to anyone or bulbapedia. Signature below↓

I had a couple of free minutes, so there you go. all you do is add background:black to the span style and you're set. –MasterKenobi 21:26, 11 April 2010 (UTC)

Key items

Since many of them are available in multiple generations and we have an entry for them on each one, I was wonndering if it would be possible to include links to the other generation's lists in the template when it applies. Also, should they always redirect to their most recent appearence?--MisterE13 18:08, 11 April 2010 (UTC)

I'm quite eh on that first idea, since the lists link to each other anyway. The second one, however, I agree with fully. TTEchidna 21:15, 11 April 2010 (UTC)

Sorry to bug you but...

It seems highly likely that Rodney is Ash Ketchum Peru who was already permanently banned. He was banned for hostile behavior towards other users. Rodney joined shortly after AKP was blocked. Not to mention they are both from Peru. Here are their contributions. They look very similar.

What do you think? Should he be infiblocked? Just asking so I don't get in trouble again. --ケンジガール 22:34, 11 April 2010 (UTC)

Peru's not that small. I expect it's just something weird about the fandom... like the English-speaking fandom whines about dub voices and Misty never coming back, the Latin American fandom whines about... every other Spanish-speaking country. Their IPs nor emails match.
Rodney uses a lot of different addresses though. But alright. I'll give him a chance and change the block. I still believe they're the same person though. Their edits are too similar. --ケンジガール 22:44, 11 April 2010 (UTC)
I agree, he uses a bajillion. Who knows. Latin American Pokémon fans are crazy... TTEchidna 22:52, 11 April 2010 (UTC)

Template:Itemlang

Could you add a Korean section to Template:Itemlang? It also need an uploaded South Korean flag. I planned to add Korean item names to the List of items in other languages but I can't do it because of the template (which is protected) In the meantime, could you also move Officer to Policeman (unless somebody has already done it). --Maxim 20:40, 13 April 2010 (UTC)

Both the hangul and roman parameters are defined, at the end. And overall I'm gonna put off moving the cops, since I've got a Trainer class revamp in the works. TTEchidna 22:51, 13 April 2010 (UTC)
Oh. But hope they won't be all crowded into one page (or collection of bigger pages like "Gen I Trainers", "Gen II Trainers" etc. That'd really suck and I'm completely against it. --Maxim 11:02, 14 April 2010 (UTC)
No, what we'd do is have an infobox for the Trainer class (finally), rearrange the templates, put all battleable Trainers of that class in the various games, and so on. And all of them would be at X (Trainer class). 18:31, 14 April 2010 (UTC)

Performance suggestion

I'm noticing that you're using template substitution for version (Gold/Silver/Crystal/Platinum etc) coloring (eg. Template:Platinum color). Wouldn't it be significantly less server-intensive to simply replace these with styles described in the wiki's CSS?

Doubtful. Considering Gold and Silver, along with Red, Green, Blue, and Yellow are already predefined by HTML, not a good idea. The color templates are one-third of colorscheme templates, with {{red color}} combining with {{red color light}} and {{red color dark}} to make a Red Version colorscheme. And the server's only strained if we ever decide to edit those templates... which is not often once they're in place. TTEchidna 01:09, 15 April 2010 (UTC)

Idea for new Type Effectiveness Template

Hi TTE, hope all is going well. I was thinking about how we could redesign the Type effectiveness template that we have on all of the Pokémon pages to reflect a bit more updated look. When you have a chance could you please look at the Type Effectiveness template that I came up with?

Thanks a bunch. ^^ –MasterKenobi 09:48, 18 April 2010 (UTC)

That looks awesome, but might be a pain to code. TTEchidna 09:55, 18 April 2010 (UTC)
Thanks, glad you like it. It is accurate down to the centimeter as I calculated everything out. I just have to get so technical sometimes. I have no idea where to get started in how to code it though, I was thinking maybe a table inside the template, or maybe start somewhere else. Do we have any good coders that are up for a challenge? –MasterKenobi 10:01, 18 April 2010 (UTC)

Debut Section

I have an idea for Pokémon Debut Section of episodes. I think this section is special, and I want to put the overworld sprite of Pokémon near the Pokémon's name. Example:

TV episode debuts

--Caciulacdlac 19:47, 18 April 2010 (UTC)

I have wanted to do that for a while, but I haven't yet come up with a template to do so. We'll do it when we get the chance, though. I've got several other templates in the pipeline right this moment, but I should be able to get to this by June. TTEchidna 19:49, 18 April 2010 (UTC)

Pokémon: The Abridged Series

and I was wondering if I could make a pgae(s) about pokemon the abridged series? ITs realy funny! we could start a whole know project!!!! pleasse!!!??? totoRulz 22:30, 20 April 2010 (UTC)
No. TTEchidna 23:00, 20 April 2010 (UTC)
whhy not? you having pokemon shipping!!!!! even betweeb ash abd gary!!!! totoRulz 21:12, 21 April 2010 (UTC)
Shipping is notable in the Pokémon fandom so therefore they have their articles. As something like Pokémon Abridged is not notable for Bulbapedia. --Coolピカチュウ! 22:43, 21 April 2010 (UTC)
What the hell is Pokémon Abridged? --ニョロトノ666 23:49, 21 April 2010 (UTC)
Any online series calling itself "Pokémon: The Abridged Series" or something similar takes the content of the Pokémon anime, trims the video down, and applies a humorous fandub. The concept as we know it began with "Yu-Gi-Oh The Abridged Series" by LittleKuriboh, with a lot of attempts to emulate the concept with different anime series having popped up with varying degrees of success.
There are way too many "abridged series" based off of Pokémon, it's difficult to follow any particular one, especially since very few have even come to at least 3% of the success of the original Yu-Gi-Oh Abridged (many attempts have even died out after only a few "episodes"). The abridged series one person follows may not be the abridged series another user follows, and still different from the abridged series a third person follows. Because of this, none of them are notable enough for an article, as if Bulbapedia followed one abridged series but someone came here looking for a different abridged series, flame wars could ensue, especially if another person came here looking for a third abridged take. Since there's so many Pokémon abridged series out there, it's best to assume none of them are notable and let the confusion stay on Youtube. --Shiningpikablu252 00:51, 22 April 2010 (UTC)
While I agree with the consensus that any individual example is non-notable, would it be feasible to create one article outlining the basic concept? (Essentially expanding Shiningpikablu252's first paragraph above into an article.) I admit that unless one was willing to create an additional list of examples it could get out of hand. However, if there are indeed as many examples of this as Shiningpikablu252 claims then clearly this is an area of the fandom that has been overlooked. That's my 2 cents worth, refunds available.--Beligaronia (talk) 09:56, 22 April 2010 (UTC)

Double & Walking Sprites?

I just realized that for the games that have animated sprites for each Pokemon (not counting Crystal), the animation cycles through two different sprites. However, in the Sprites section for each Pokemon, only one sprite is made available--Emerald's animated sprites shows the second sprite, but only in its animation.

Basically, would it be realistic/possible to have both sprites available on each Pokemon's page? Now I'm sure this idea has been kicked around by you guys by now, and I suspect that it's NOT possible, otherwise you would have done it by now. BUT... if someone made those second sprites available, would you consider adding it to the site?

Also, what are your plans to include the HGSS walking sprites to each Pokemon's sprite section? Are you guys working on adding it, or has that idea been shot down?

Only curious... - Nick15 01:24, 22 April 2010 (UTC)

Two things. First off, it's best that you ask Maverick Nate in regards to the Archives, etc. Not saying TTE's not a user to talk to, but Maverick is more suitable for this. Second, in answer to the latter, the "walking sprites" as you call it (we call it overworld sprites), are on a need-basis. If the template needs it, we upload it. Umeko would be appropriate to ask for those sprites, though other users have them as well. ht14 01:37, 22 April 2010 (UTC)
Nick, both sprites are available on the Pokémon's pages. We don't do the midframe sprites alone. They're included in the animated ones, which for the most part are pngs and thus unviewable in crappy browsers. CRAPPY BROWSERS INCLUDE STUFF THAT'S NOT MOZILLA OR OPERA. We might redo that stuff, though, and feature gifs of the animation separate when we can think of a good way to revamp the spritebox... but that's for another time. TTEchidna 02:08, 22 April 2010 (UTC)
Actually, I JUST noticed--on some of the articles, at least--that the stationary, single frame sprites that made up each Pokemon's Gen 4 sprite section have been replaced with animated ones. I was thinking more of, like, had they stayed stationary, having both frames that make up the animation being side-by-side each other. But I guess the animated ones look better.
To which, I guess if you'll take suggestions on revamping the sprite box--though I'm sure anything I'll suggest is stuff you've already figured out, so forgive me if I'm just repeating your ideas--but maybe it'd be a cool idea if you had the animated sprite with both singular stationary frames next to them. I mean, I just wanna be able to see that one frame of animation that I can't pause to see, y'know? But like I said, I'm sure you've already figured that out. :) - Nick15 03:52, 26 April 2010 (UTC)
I've always been eh on the midframe sprites. They're ugly and not meant to be seen... But yeah, we're kinda lacking on ideas right now. TTEchidna 03:59, 26 April 2010 (UTC)

Plates in HGSS

I have been trying to figure this whole Plate thing out. I just received one from the Captain of the S.S. Aqua, and I know you have to have at least all 16 badges to receive a Plate from him. For this first time I got the Flame Plate and was unable to reset for a different one so it is definitely set. Could it be going in some certain order that it is handing them out in, such as by the index number? Thanks. –MasterKenobi 02:28, 24 April 2010 (UTC)

I can help. It's in index number order, as I just got the Zap Plate, and previously got the Flame Plate and Splash Plate... CuboneKing 02:40, 24 April 2010 (UTC)

Changing pictures for sections

I've sort of been on a replacing pictures spree for articles that need improved pictures. However, now I'm somewhat confused.

Per the note, it says feel free to replace it.

However, [1] it says that pictures must be approved by an admin.

Can I just replace the pictures?

If the note's there, replace it. We'll decide on it after. TTEchidna 23:07, 24 April 2010 (UTC)
Yes, that really only applies for images that are fine as they are, but you wish to make them better anyways. If there is a "replace image" template, then you can feel free to replace it if you follow the comments on each image.(Some templates may say "is a JPG", while others might say "needs to show more of the character") Blake Talk·Edits 23:18, 24 April 2010 (UTC)

{{MS}}

I've noticed that many of the pages that have the Pokémon MiniSprites on them link to the name of the Pokémon, not the Pokémon article. I've made a list of the ones that link to the disambig for Pikachu here. There's rather a lot of them, so should we fix all of the instances on all of the pages that have it wrong, just fix the ones that lead to disambigs, or should we break the ones that are right and then change the template? Werdnae (talk) 05:18, 25 April 2010 (UTC)

Just fix them, put in (Pokémon) to the link thingy. TTEchidna 05:27, 25 April 2010 (UTC)

Yeah. The template used to link to X (Pokémon) with just the species name put in, but then... for some reason we changed it. TTEchidna 20:20, 25 April 2010 (UTC)

Userpage policy question

Just asking that is it an acceptable exception to the current one-userspace-edit-a-day policy if I make more than one edit (mainly large updates) to User:UltimateSephiroth/ForeignPtEntries‎‎ during a single day? Also, when that page is complete, is it possible that the entries are finally implemented in the species pages? (Incomplete proposed template update here, example here) UltimateSephiroth (about me · chat · edits) 20:08, 25 April 2010 (UTC)

As long as it's to be mainspaced/templatespaced/bulbaspaced eventually yeah we do have lenience. If it's a dumb personal project about your team or something, then we get mad and lock your stuff down.
Though you do know the foreign dex entries are from LG for DP and from DP for PtHGSS, right? Meaning that all you gotta do to know them all is... go around to the EP wikis.
And I'm planning to update the dex entry template before BW, once we see beta pages for its Pokédex. TTEchidna 20:18, 25 April 2010 (UTC)
Yeah, I know they are from older games. It's just that someone has to transfer the entries in the first place (which is a somewhat tedious process). And, as of now, there is no Italian wiki in the EP chain (though I believe there was an aspiring individual one somewhere). As for the template, it might indeed be easier to make the required changes all at once than in several small edits. UltimateSephiroth (about me · chat · edits) 20:24, 25 April 2010 (UTC)
Exactly... TTEchidna 22:06, 25 April 2010 (UTC)

Not sure about the userpage thing, but for signing just press the signature button at the top of the editbox. Or you can type four "~" (top left of keyboard). What you shouldn't do is type it in manually. The tildes will give you both the correct link and the correct time.--Beligaronia (talk) 20:43, 27 April 2010 (UTC)
New users cannot create pages, but they can edit already-made pages. This is to prevent vandal jerkfaces from making a page named POKEMON SUCKS AND IS GAY, as well as to prevent abuse of the userspace by brand-new users so we don't have to warn them all the damn time. So many people get put into abuse after editing only their userpage and never return, after whining to the admins "WAH YOU UNFAIRS". So we're just... preventing it. Once you become more established, then you'll be able to create your page. So go edit the mainspace, stick around for a while, and tah-dah, you'll be able to create your userpage. Probation

OK, what's the first step I need to do to ensure I overcome this probation I've been slapped with? I want to make sure I remain a sysop in good standing, but if I've dropped down as far as to end up on probation, I've got to do everyting to make sure I get my sysop powers back ASAP. I know it's never too late for anything...--Shiningpikablu252 11:35, 1 May 2010 (UTC)

First of all, admit to yourself that we removed your powers because you've been quite a jerk since you were given them. Remember the #1 rule of Bulbapedia: unless an angry mob forms or Archaic/the games/canon disagrees, what TTE says goes.
It's not probation this time. It's making certain that before any point in time at which any powers are reinstated your attitude changes. It's been somewhat on the way, but I still see occasional lapses in judgment outta you. Nobody's perfect, as evil exploding pens prove, but dude, you gotta listen to reason. TTEchidna 12:00, 1 May 2010 (UTC)
OK, I've acted like a jerk at times. We all have. There's times we've all had lapses in judgment, and I'm no exception. We're only human, after all. But I know I can overcome this probation. If I try to stop acting like a jerk, I know I can do it. --Shiningpikablu252 12:03, 1 May 2010 (UTC)
There ya go. Now remember, it's not like this'll come back immediately after saying that, but we will keep you in mind in the future. You're a great help to the wiki, but you know we can't have you flying off the handle at nonexistent translators and such.
Remember, you're kinda hard not to notice, what with kicking my and BulbaBot's asses, so if you behave, hey, give it a few months, we'll look at you. TTEchidna 12:29, 1 May 2010 (UTC)
