Hmm... What exactly does "MS" stand for, anyway, "menu sprite" or "minisprite"? TTEchidna 21:37, 27 November 2007 (UTC)
- I always thought it was 'Mini Sprite', because it appears in many different areas other than the Party menu.. such as the Poketch, boxes and more. Tina☆♥♫δ 22:38, 27 November 2007 (UTC)
- Shouldn't it be .png and not .gif? TESHIGIGAS 14:29, 9 March 2008 (UTC)
- Now watch this everyone... all the gifs broke, but soon... they'll all be pngs! TTEchidna 04:27, 11 September 2008 (UTC)
Bad default value
Rick Astley is not a Pokémon and will not ever be. Please use something more useful. (Hint hint, if it doesn't prove to stress the server too much, we could use the User:UltimateSephiroth/No2PKMN template :P) UltimateSephiroth (about me · chat · edits) 12:09, 16 June 2009 (UTC)
Yahoo.
There, still works. Note: does require "(Pokémon)" to be in there. TTEchidna 05:13, 11 October 2009 (UTC)
- If you have it set up with {{#if: {{{2|}}}|{{{2}}} Pokémon}} (coded more correctly, one could assume) you could have it with the Pokémon coming up automatically. Would you ever want to link to a non-Pokémon article with a Pokémon MS? —darklordtrom 07:41, 11 October 2009 (UTC)
- I know this is an old conversation, but I've just discovered that many of the lists of Pokémon we have, as well as several other pages, currently don't have the (Pokémon) bit.
These are the pages affected | ||||

Updating MS sprites
Considering many of the bigger sprites from Sword/Shield and Let's Go are now readily available, is it a good idea to start updating the sprites for this template? I assume the older sprites could be saved differently like how the Gen 3-5 sprites were saved. Brawlersinthezone (talk) 14:32, 10 February 2020 (UTC)
Size argument to avoid oversized sprites
Since SV sprites are significantly larger than sprites from previous games, several uses of MS have the sprites displaying too large (example: List of Battle Tower Trainers (Galar)/Artist). This can be fixed by adding a size argument, such that the desired size of a sprite can be specified when the template is called. To avoid errors, it can have a default value such as 32px.
To apply this, just add something like this at the end of the file link:
|size={{{3|32px}}}]]
Then to call the template for, let's say Schooling Wishiwashi with a width of 40px, we'd use:
{{MS|746Sc|Wishiwashi|40px}}
