So...I see other users are following my footsteps in creating secret pages...so exactly WHY can't I (the creator of secret pages) have one myself? And then you guys made a rule that we can't have Friend Pages...well, let me tell you: I named it as a Friend page as a title for the content on my page...it's not an ACTUAL friend page if you guys actually taken a look...it's nothing different than that of Dragonbeastx and Smartkedhens...it's not fair.--☆Tavisource 05:16, 11 December 2008 (UTC)

A question about fe/male-only Pokémon pages
I have a question about fe/male-only Pokémon pages. Should we replace the uses of "it" to "he" or "she", and the uses of "its" to "his" or "her", depending on which gender they can only be? Trivia
In your opinion...what would you classify as trivia? to me, trivia is something that is interesting and/or something you might not have known/might not have thought about before. In Lugia's, Ho-Oh's, and Celebi's trivia sections, there's something mentioning that there has been only 2 other Pokemon of that same type as the legendary Pokemon and there hasn't been any since. Wouldn't you consider that trivia? Another user doesn't and keeps deleting it from those pages. I just wanted to know what your opinion was on that so it can be settled. thanks. --いぬみみ 04:33, 13 December 2008 (UTC)

Hmm... slight problem
Rightio, I managed to recode the Trainerentry template (haven't saved it yet though) so it only uses Trainerentry/1 repeatedly with nested switches, however, I've found that I don't think it's possible to make a new row in a switch outcome as there's a |
confliction. I've tried perhaps using <tr>
instead, or containing it in quotations, but to no avail; anything after the =
just appears as text. I'm probably making it sound confusing, here's the situation:
...{{#switch: {{{5|6}}}|1|2|3|4|5|6|= |- {{Trainerentry/1...
Basically trying to put a new row in the outcome, but of course, the |
is conflicting, and treating it as it would in the switch, thus nothing is outputted.
The only way that I can think of to solve this is by making a template simply containing |-
in it and using it there; Template:tr perhaps... though it's pretty much borderline pointless, and only necessary here. Any ideas? -–<×vVvvv τλικ to ς1tHςι4γ3r ^^vVv×>–- 08:06, 14 December 2008 (UTC)

And... success.
Done. You can delete the other Trainerentry/# templates, just keep Trainerentry/1, cos that's the only one that's needed. Time to start on the exp ^_^ -–<×vVvvv τλικ to ς1tHςι4γ3r ^^vVv×>–- 11:32, 14 December 2008 (UTC)

- Wait what. Wha? You redid it so that none besides 1 needs to be there? TTEchidna 22:11, 14 December 2008 (UTC)
- Basically the original template had to choose from 6 different separate party templates when it came to the number of Pokémon to display, so if '4' was put in for the number of Pokémon in party, then the template would include Trainerentry/4, and this meant that to edit Trainerentry/1, you would have to edit all of them, which I found rather annoying, so I redid the original so that it only uses Trainerentry/1, cept in nested switches. So now you can delete the other Trainerentry/# ones, and editing it will be a lot easier. -–<×vVvvv τλικ to ς1tHςι4γ3r ^^vVv×>–- 22:54, 15 December 2008 (UTC)
- And it works? And it's been implemented so that no page uses the other ones anymore? TTEchidna 22:56, 15 December 2008 (UTC)
- Too right. I just checked using the WhatLinksHere tool. No other pages link to Trainerentry/2, 3, 4, 5 or 6. Trainerentry/1 is the only one being used. And it works fine. So, any other ideas? Do you reckon there should be something added to show Type? Like maybe the background of the row, or perhaps those small word icons. -–<×vVvvv τλικ to ς1tHςι4γ3r ^^vVv×>–- 01:14, 16 December 2008 (UTC)

- True that. Though how about graphic-wise, I've seen that there's been noticeable css changes to certain templates lately, such as the one for Base Stats. Perhaps making the Trainer table take a similar appearance to the party views in the games would be a good idea in the future? On Byron's page Jmath keeps deleting this: "In DP101 it was revealed that he was defeated by Jun"
I keep adding it back because I think it is valid and other gym leaders, such as Fantina have this kind of info on their pages. Jmath keeps saying that it can't be on their because he didn't appear. TCG
I fully don't understand this, and you appear to be the most active member of BP:TCGDex Project atm, so I'll ask you (and the fact that you are the allpowerful dictator doesn't go amiss either :p): Is Rage (here actually a normal-type move? Or is it colorless? Because I thought that standard types didn't exist in the TCG. Thanks. — THE TROM — 06:00, 17 December 2008 (UTC)

Wait for a complete list before jumping into other projects. Plus, we have a style for the TCG only moves, and I'd appreciate you follow it after we get the japanese names into every page! - Gee, alright then. Would you mind not coming on so strong, though? Castform movelist
I noticed that Wormadam has a special template for its movelists, should Castform get one to or are its forms not permanent enough?--MisterE13 14:49, 17 December 2008 (UTC)
- Castform's actual moveset does not differ between forms. For example, it learns Water Gun, Ember, and Powder Snow at level 10 regardless of which form it's in at the time (and it learns all three). In this respect, it's more akin to Unown (i.e. A and R have the same movepool), Spinda (like the programmers could program in more than 4 billion different movesets anyway), Shellos/Gastrodon (West and East have the same movepool), and Giratina (the Another Form and Origin Form share a movepool) than to Deoxys (Normal Form, Attack Form, Defense Form, and Speed Form have different movepools), Wormadam (the Grass, Ground, and Steel-type forms have different movepools), and Shaymin (the Land Form and Sky Form have different movepools). --Shiningpikablu252 17:17, 17 December 2008 (UTC)
- I know that, I just meant the heading colours on the templates could be changed to reflect the different types such as Wormadam's.--MisterE13 17:22, 17 December 2008 (UTC)
- I mean this thing Template:Movelist/body/4/Wormadam--MisterE13 18:06, 17 December 2008 (UTC)
- Castform doesn't have permanent forms, so no need to list them all. It'd be like listing Ditto for all 17 types. Only reason Arceus and Shaymin get it is because their forms are semipermanent, while Wormadam's is permanent. If West Sea and East Sea Gastrodon had different types, they'd get the same treatment. Evobox pictures
I thought it would be a good idea to put images into evoboxes. For example, I put a Remoraid menusprite into the Mantyke/Mantine one. I actually got the idea from the Nincada/Ninjask/Shedinja one. Ariados Sprite Issue
I'm afraid I've hit a big snag when it came to starting up the project to properly redirect all of the 3f sprites to 3r for those introduced outside Generation I (save Teddiursa and Deoxys). The Pokémon in question is Ariados. Chocolate had this "bright idea" of making the 3r a redirect to the file at 3f (the file should be at the 3r, the 3f should be the redirect); no doubt due to Chocolate's actions, attempts to rectify the issue caused problems (read: errors) when trying to upload the file to the 3r position where it belonged. I had no choice but to restore things to the way they had been (file at what should be the redirect, redirect at what should be the file) as a result. Can you help me with this issue? If you can't, I don't really know what to do...--Shiningpikablu252 17:16, 18 December 2008 (UTC)
- The problem with uploading to file to the proper name isn't from an improper upload & redirect. Something is affecting all uploading. We just have to wait for whatever is causing it to be fixed, then the sprite issue can be rectified. - Kogoro | Talk to me - 17:26, 18 December 2008 (UTC)

Rowspans
Should we use rowspans whenever possible? Because The dark lord trombonator is repeatedly removing the rowspans from the table on one-hit knockout move. I find repeating stuff in a table to be a bad idea whenever it's possible not to repeat it, and rowspans negate repeation. So, should we use rowspans for stuff like that? ♥Chocolate (Merry Christmas!) 20:50 12/20/2008
Not to be rude, but...
Do we officially know that the glowing thing that Dialga, Palkia and Giratina attacked in the 12th movie trailer is Arceus? I guess it is obvious, but... what about the text below the character palette? Image renaming
Is it possible to rename images while they're already on the Archives or would one have to re-upload them?--MisterE13 22:34, 21 December 2008 (UTC)
- One would have to re-upload it with the desired name. Bulbapedian - Talk 22:35, 21 December 2008 (UTC)
- The latter. Unfortunately, there's no rename option on the archives. Re-upload and make sure to tag the old one for deletion. --ニョロトノ666 22:36, 21 December 2008 (UTC)
- Well, in that case, it doesn't look like I'll be able to change the names of images. The only Imagey file that I can save them into is Paint and that gives them a weird blackish background which means that I have to ask someone else to make it transparent. So, unless it's possible to change things on the Archives to rename images, I'm asking someone to rename the Unown sprites.--MisterE13 03:38, 22 December 2008 (UTC)

A question regarding sprites
Are the Unown sprites from the second generation on right filenames? To me it seems pretty odd that the A Unown is at a:Image:Spr 2g 201.png and a:Image:Spr 2s 201.png, but all the other ones are with the name Image:Spr 2gs 201-?.png. This would otherwise be logical, but why do we then use redirects in the FRLG sprites instead? I'd suggest we move the sprites out of the 2gs-type name to 2g and make the 2s ones to be redirects to them. What do you think? UltimateSephiroth (about me · chat · edits) 19:45, 22 December 2008 (UTC)
- I really don't think they are correct. I think that the first ones of each generation were just uploaded uder the right filename just with no discretion over the letter. After that, I think they were all uploaded kinda' screwy.--MisterE13 19:50, 22 December 2008 (UTC)
- No, the gs names are not correct. It should be at Spr 2g 201-A.png, and so on, with Spr 2s 201-A.png and so on redirected to the Gold sprites. However, the first sprite uploaded at Spr 2g 201.png, that's just so we have a default. TTEchidna 20:08, 22 December 2008 (UTC)
- Okay, I'll make 'em transparent and upload them onto the correct name, and fix all possible links to gs ones in the mainspace, then the gs ones can be removed. UltimateSephiroth (about me · chat · edits) 20:16, 22 December 2008 (UTC)

Gen III has all normal backsprites, but almost no frontsprites or shiny backsprites at all. As for Gen IV, there are only sprites for A form + shiny ! frontsprite. Edit: Kogoro took the deletion part, no need to worry about it anymore. UltimateSephiroth (about me · chat · edits) 22:05, 22 December 2008 (UTC)
- Okay, I'll make 'em transparent and upload them onto the correct name, and fix all possible links to gs ones in the mainspace, then the gs ones can be removed. UltimateSephiroth (about me · chat · edits) 20:16, 22 December 2008 (UTC)
Hi
I'm Charitwo, bureaucrat from the Wikia Pokémon wiki, I'd like to discuss this community dispute with you. You can either contact me on AIM (Sean18z), or on IRC --Charitwo 23:23, 22 December 2008 (UTC)
29th September
The protection of Flint's page expires on... 29th September 2009? Are you serious? What's with all that protecting madness among Bulbapedia Admins? --Maxim 08:28, 23 December 2008 (UTC)
- Only the move protection so we have no more bullcrap wars. By then it's likely there'll be an episode featuring the guy AND it'll have been dubbed. After all, I'd bet Ash gets to Sunyshore by DP130, which is less than 20 weeks off. TTEchidna 08:32, 23 December 2008 (UTC)
- Nevermind. I just noticed it's only a move-protection. Sorry. However, doesn't that protecting madness also annoy you? I mean... Blocking the page TWO WEEKS before the airing episode just because of gun-jumpers (with the said gun-jumper being ME since I'm the one who brought the dub names for 5 characters before the airings from my friend's sources)? The reasons admins use to block pages are sometimes really poor. They didn't block so much in the past and it was better. Excessive protecting only numbs the work here. I'm awaiting major admin decission here. --Again me, Maxim 08:35, 23 December 2008 (UTC)
Big Problem
Okay, I'm currently redirect japanese script.... and 'サトシのムクバード' leads to Staravia, But yet again, Heracross has the same name as "サトシのムクバード" how should I do this...--Force Fire talk 08:41, 23 December 2008 (UTC)
Unown artwork
tc26 added some artwork for the Unown showing all the letter ones. Since we're in the process of making it all semi-random, should it be chopped up to only show one at a time?--MisterE13 16:20, 23 December 2008 (UTC)
Hey
I am wondering if you are judging for the Fanfic contest. If so, then if you see my post there then it was put there by help from DCM-another user. So it is my work, and he was helping me out. Pyles 20:43, 23 December 2008 (UTC)
GSDS
No joke. I totally support GSDS! I didn't have the chance to play GS, and from what I'm watching on you tube, it's awesome! GSDS would give ME the chance to experience Johto and Kanto on the DS, with, of course, better quality, sound and everything! You are awesome! Especially YOUR GSDS page! Almost like the bulbapedia gold silver remake page! Go GSDS! It's TOTALLY coming! Why give out so many GS mentions and leave it in the DP game coding. (The two "hacked" Chikorita) Go GSDS!--DRAGONBEASTX 21:41, 23 December 2008 (UTC)
Two quick questions
- What is
subst:
mean? - What does the patrol log for?--The Kkllnnator サンタクロース 00:23, 24 December 2008 (UTC)
- subst just takes the code of a template and places it where the template is. For example, using this template (
{{color}}
) is easy, but suppose you want to add onto it later on, like making a moz roundycorner border. You could then do this, which takes the code of the template and implements it as if it were typed. It's how we hardcode the welcome into a new user's page, rather than keeping it as a template and causing huge server stress any time it's added to. TTEchidna 00:29, 24 December 2008 (UTC) - As for the patrol log? Eh, basically says which admin looked at what page. TTEchidna 00:29, 24 December 2008 (UTC)

I could use your wizardry
I'm trying to figure out how to get the List of Pokémon by anime debut to be chronologically sorted. Any ideas? --Marton(I'm Jewish)imos 08:35, 25 December 2008 (UTC)
- That's the issue with the sortkeys... it doesn't know that it goes EP-AG-DP, so... blah. I honestly don't know. You could put, commented out, , where ### is the epicode for the episode disregarding the series change (AKA, AG epicode plus 274, DP epicode plus 466), and that ought to work right. Just make sure that the commented out stuff is before the brackets for the episode link. TTEchidna 09:35, 25 December 2008 (UTC)
- Also, I assume it was you who finally got me into the administrative areas of the forums? If so, thanks! --Marton(I'm Jewish)imos 00:53, 26 December 2008 (UTC)
....
Well, I'm just wondering if you'd want me to keep this category. If not, I'll quickly remove and request delete... Pokémon characters ht14 13:09, 25 December 2008 (UTC)
- ...hmmm... It seems like it'd better be a supercategory that Animation characters (Pokémon) and others would fall into. TTEchidna 21:20, 25 December 2008 (UTC)

Buizel Eye-Error
Do you know about the Buizel Water Gun eye color "error" that has been happening lately? It happened again in today's episode, so I'm starting to think it can't be an error. I want to know your opinion before anyone tries to remove or edit them. --HoennMaster 00:07, 26 December 2008 (UTC)
Version-exclusive Pokémon
I think that the page above should be moved to "Version-excluded Pokémon". Here's why: If the title is "Version-exclusive Pokémon", people are gonna continue to do stuff such as changing Vulpix and Ninetales to Blue when they should be (and are) under Red. If we changed the page title, it'd prevent people from doing stuff like that. So, whadda ya say? ♥Chocolate (Merry Christmas!) 02:28 12/26/2008
- No. I suggest an alternate course of action: We give anyone who does that a one-day block. Oh, and stop bothering TTE about everything. --ニョロトノ666 02:33, 26 December 2008 (UTC)
- But if we moved the page, that wouldn't be necessary. And Poli, you seem to not like me that much anymore. Why? ♥Chocolate (Merry Christmas!) 02:34 12/26/2008
- Actually, that's a fair idea. It has a chance of getting people to take another look. They can scroll past bright red warning messages, but the title of the page is more persistent. I'd suggest something else, though; "excluded" is too close to "exclusive", so some people might not notice the difference. Anything that helps prevent conflict is worth considering. --Marton(I'm Jewish)imos 02:40, 26 December 2008 (UTC)
- Yes it would because some MORONS would STILL not get it. They manage to miss the BIG BOLD TEXT IN RED that says "THESE ARE WHAT'S NOT AVAILABLE". If you can't see THAT, you can't see the title.
- I did make the List of Pokémon by in-game availability, however, which functions just in the same way. TTEchidna 02:41, 26 December 2008 (UTC)

- But if we moved the page, then that would be like giving in to the people lacking basic reading skills who keep editing the page. And no, I have no issue with you. Speaking of which, you're like the third person to bring that up. Maybe I need to change my demeanor? --ニョロトノ666 02:42, 26 December 2008 (UTC)

Italic
Italic indicates a move that gets STAB only from an evolution of this Pokémon.
Does it include pre-evolutions? Silly question I know, but some Pokémon's learnsets have their pre-evolve's STAB moves italicized in their pages, like Drapion's. - unsigned comment from Kevzo8 (talk • contribs)
- They ought not have their prevolutions' moves italic'd, since to an evolved Pokémon, that STAB will not matter at any future time. TTEchidna 02:40, 26 December 2008 (UTC)
- Okay. Just wanted clear that before I edit.--Kevzo8 02:50, 26 December 2008 (UTC)
- How about Arceus? Arceus doesn't evolve, but its name on the move pages are italicized. (unless holding a plate is considered as an evolution) --Kevzo8 02:56, 26 December 2008 (UTC)

- Then it should be worded differently... ht14 02:58, 26 December 2008 (UTC)
- Or maybe it should be noted on alternate formes' page.--Kevzo8 03:05, 26 December 2008 (UTC)
- Good idea, since it would be silly to re-word the note on every page if it's only going to apply to one or two pages. -- Jïörüjï Ðērākō.>.cнаt^ 04:06, 26 December 2008 (UTC)
