Pikachu Shorts

Do they count too?--Gyarachu 20:57, 5 December 2008 (UTC)

What about the specials and made-for-TV movies, like Legend of Thunder? Lucentas 20:59, 5 December 2008 (UTC)

That's where the issue lies. For Raikou, really. LOT kinda counts like a movie for this purpose, so make it the asterisk. TTEchidna 05:10, 7 December 2008 (UTC)

Does Mewtwo's appearance in Battle of the Badge count, as it was wearing armour? If not, when is it first seen without armour, when it destroys Team Rocket's headquaters, or in the first movie? Werdnae 21:06, 5 December 2008 (UTC)

Not a flashback, not a TV, so yes. TTEchidna 05:10, 7 December 2008 (UTC)

this is odd

If the title of the article is "List of Pokémon by anime debut" then why does it have a list of Pokémon with their anime debut right next to them??? "By" means "in order of" in this context. We need to re-order it or rename it. --RexRacer -talk 22:56, 18 December 2008 (UTC)

While the list is sortable, it appears to simply be a text sort. i.e. * for movies at the top, followed by AG, then DP, then EP for the original series. At least could that be fixed? (Sorry, I don't know how) Werdnae 08:29, 25 December 2008 (UTC)
The only idea I have is to create a third "airing order" column with straight numerals for easy sorting. However, I've asked TTE for help; hopefully he'll be able to come up with something more streamlined. --Marton(I'm Jewish)imos 08:36, 25 December 2008 (UTC)
Hopefully, adding and commenting out the numerical order before the linked text will get it to sort properly. The thing is, someone'll have to go through and add them all. --Marton(I'm Jewish)imos 23:42, 25 December 2008 (UTC)

Chatot in AG183

It says that Chatot was in AG183. I've seen that episode, and I don't remember a Chatot. I went to AG183's page. It doesn't say anything about a Chatot.--PokelovaAni393MS.png‎ 09:18, 20 December 2008 (UTC)

It's suppose to be AG184....--Force Fire talk 09:21, 20 December 2008 (UTC)

Episode Pages

Another question. Should the episode pages be updated to match this list, as many of them include Pokémon in different episodes, e.g. EP001 lists Gengar in the debuts section (although it does point out that it debuted on TV) Werdnae 09:05, 25 December 2008 (UTC)

Anyone think the list should be divided into sub-sections? Its just too huge. Jmath 20:50, 18 January 2009 (UTC)

Wasn't the episode with the 8th gym battle Mewto`s debut? --×Impoleon xy× 16:58, 8 March 2009 (UTC)

No, but it certainly was Mewtwo's debut. TTEchidna 17:07, 8 March 2009 (UTC)
Haha. -.- Sorry for that little mistake. --×Impoleon xy× 17:08, 8 March 2009 (UTC)

would it count?

Of course they aren't real, but wouldn't the mechanical charizard, Venusaur, Blastoise, Pikachu, Rhydon, Zapdos, Moltres, Kabutops in EP017 count as an anime debut?--FF(editstalk) 07:20, 7 May 2009 (UTC)

I'm curious . . .

. . . I'm wondering if it would be a good idea to start an article about Pokémon that debut before their respective generation. The page would be big enough. All we would have to do is gather the information in chronological order of course and make sort of a history page about it. If you think a whole page is unnecesarry we could implement it into this-> It would take time but it would probably become a decent sized article and we could make a few links to it here and there. Landfish7 21:20, 4 December 2009 (UTC)

He's listed twice, once with Waruvile's sprite. I'd fix it but its too long for my browser.--Burgundy 19:49, 8 February 2011 (UTC)

How About Two Tables?

One for physical debuts, and one for actual debuts, I think this would be much better. Either like this, or similar, or one table listed in a different section:

# Icon Name Episode
088   Grimer S1EP030
094   Gengar S1EP023
095   Onix S1EP005
# Icon Name Episode
088   Grimer S1EP026
094   Gengar S1EP001
095   Onix S1EP001

XVuvuzela2010X 15:30, 15 February 2011 (UTC)

Perhaps instead of two tables, there could just be two columns? --SnorlaxMonster 06:54, 19 February 2011 (UTC)
I agree, that would be a lot better (why didn't I think of that...) XVuvuzela2010X 14:44, 19 February 2011 (UTC)

Since this page is a list of Pokémon by anime debut, shouldn't they be in that order rather than NDex order? I know it is sortable, but it would make more sense to sort them this way, since it says that it is in the title. --SnorlaxMonster 08:32, 17 February 2011 (UTC)

Agree. —darklordtrom 10:08, 17 February 2011 (UTC)
It might also help to split the table into seasons/sagas, since a single giant table with a single column is a little unweldly...PDL 01:27, 18 February 2011 (UTC). I think Pokémon should be listed by their debut. ReaNintendo 13:14, 29 July 2011 (UTC)

Does Haxours's appearence really count?

Since it's been made clear at the top of the page that the list only counts actual physical appearences, Haxours's appearences have so far only been in dreams and imagine spots. Fraxure had the benefit of appearing in a flashback. I just want it to be consistant.PDL 01:30, 18 February 2011 (UTC)

You're right, our current (ridiculous) definition means that they both shouldnt be there (flashbacks don't count either.)
(user points to How About Two Tables? section above. : )

XVuvuzela2010X 10:04, 18 February 2011 (UTC)

1)I'd like to point out that both Fraxure and Haxuros appeared in a dream that was manufested into reality. 2)It was a good enough debute for them to start appearing in the opening. Diamond Lanturn CodeName: 05308 10:09, 18 February 2011 (UTC)
Hmmm... I forgot about that. Having said that, the text on the page does state that:
This list counts only actual appearances as official. Pokémon which appear on TV in the anime or in another manner before debuting in physical form, such as Nidorino and Gengar in EP001, count as debuting when they physically appear, not when they are first seen.
Since as far as I can remember, they both only appeared in Iris's imagination, and in flashbacks, they are best kept hidden untill someone changes this rule (If an Admin is reading this, please do) XVuvuzela2010X 10:18, 18 February 2011 (UTC)
Agreed, I am waiting for Kenji's word on a few things, this being one of them Diamond Lanturn CodeName: 05308 10:22, 18 February 2011 (UTC)

Menu sprites for Generation VI Pokémon needed

Anyone please replace these question mark menu sprites to menu sprites of Generation VI Pokémon please? Cinday123 (talk) 10:18, 11 November 2013 (UTC)

So that includes Pokémon debuted in an episode but only in a fantasy? --Cinday123 (Talk) 07:39, 21 February 2014 (UTC)

Gen7 form differences

All the individual forms are listed for some Gen7 Pokémon (Oricorio, Lycanroc, Wishiwashi, Minior and Magearna) but not for Silvally, Solgaleo or Lunala. Is there any reason for this? Should the others be added? Kidburla (talk) 21:50, 24 December 2016 (UTC)

I think Silvally shouldn't be listed for pretty much the same reason as Arceus: there's about a dozen and a half forms that don't really differ significantly, and the odds are poor that the anime will go out of its way to show every last one of them. As for Solgaleo and Lunala, I dunno. Pumpkinking0192 (talk) 04:24, 25 December 2016 (UTC)

I’ve been looking around a bit, and I've noticed this site is really inconsistent as to what counts as an actual Pokémon debut, primarily when it comes to physical appearance versus non-physical, fake, or fantasy appearances. For instance: Mew's main anime debut is considered to be Alola, Kanto!. While it previously appeared in A Lean Mean Team Rocket Machine!, we're apparently not counting that appearance because it was in a fantasy. Meanwhile, the English dub debut of Dratini is considered to be Ditto's Mysterious Mansion rather than Beauty is Skin Deep, despite the fact the former was in a fantasy. TheFatPanda (talk) 13:54, 15 August 2019 (UTC)

Agreed. I'd like to know what the standard is for this article as well. GrammarFreak01 (talk) 00:05, 16 August 2019 (UTC)
In that case, Dratini had already appeared in EP035, which was banned in the US. The EP037 "debut" is noting that it's the first time it has appeared outside of Japan (another example is Porygon for EP047).--ForceFire 05:14, 16 August 2019 (UTC)
Oh, okay. GrammarFreak01 (talk) 20:28, 18 August 2019 (UTC)

Order by episode

Shouldn't this be ordered by episode and not just anime? FireLizard (talk) 21:34, 29 May 2020 (UTC)

You'll need to be more descriptive in your question, if you click on the episode header it does sort by anime episode. --Spriteit (talk) 00:06, 30 May 2020 (UTC)

Dynamax and Totem

I was looking through the list and I was wondering, should Dynamax and Totem Pokemon really be included here? Totem Pokemon are just slightly larger than their regular form, other than the Totem Togedemaru, they aren't much different. While Dynamaxing can be applied to all pokemon (well, those available in the galar games), sans Zacian, Zamazenta, and Eternatus, and pokemon that do undergo this don't have drastic changes in their appearance, unlike the Mega and Gigantamax forms. Animaltamer7 (talk) 11:12, 14 May 2021 (UTC)

Yes, I also agree that the Dynamax sections are unnecessary. At some point, every Pokémon may have a Dynamax section if this is continued. --TotallyTob 21:42, 1 September 2022 (UTC)
There's not that many Totem and Dynamax Pokémon that have appeared in the anime. Some users might find it interesting to see which ones have appeared and when they debuted. I think it could potentially do more harm than good to take them out. Landfish7 04:49, 3 September 2022 (UTC)
