Im a bit confuzzled by what you said on my page--Davidaipom 19:40, 9 September 2008 (UTC)

See the "move" button at the top of most pages, between "history" and "watch" (or "unwatch" in some cases)? When you archive, the best thing to do is click on that button and move the page to User:David aipom/Archive N or something. That way, the history of the page is preserved with the archive, so people can go back and look at that more easily. In the meantime, your new page starts more or less completely from scratch, so all the stupid comments and two-day-old arguments some jerk puts on your page don't even show up in the history.
I don't think there's anything wrong with your way; that is to say, there's no reason to try to do it now, as that'll probably screw things up. But I do think my way's better. --Martonimos((Argh|Blargh)) 21:02, 9 September 2008 (UTC)

Hi! I need some help. I'm trying to update some Pokémon learnsets with platinum level up Moves. Everything is going fine in the Pokémon pages, but I can't seem to update the Move page correctly, since I can't put a platinum mark on the Pokémon when updating the learnset list. To illustrate what I mean, see the difference between the Glaceon and Barrier pages. I tried doing it by repeating the format of other pages and looking at some tutoring pages, but I just can't figure it out. Thanks in advance.--Mr. Charlie 20:01, 13 September 2008 (GMT)

So, I will wait until the new templates are ready to be used and then start updating the moves pages. Or should I update now putting the templates as if they existed?--Mr. Charlie 21:55, 13 September 2008 (GMT)
Great, thanks again. I'll do a little more, and update pages like Bug Bite, then I might take a break. I got too excited about it, I'm strangely happy about Caterpie getting a new move. It inspired me to work.--Mr. Charlie 24:18, 13 September 2008 (UTC)

How are the platinum level-up moves supposed to be listed in Pokémon pages?--Diby 10:54, 21 September 2008 (UTC)

On top of the DP ones. Put them where they would normally be by order of level-up; just be sure you use the twelfth (I think it's twelfth...) field to specify which games you're referring to. For example, on Glaceon's page, you'll notice how it learns Barrier by level-up at lv. 78 in Platinum only, because the twelfth field has a Pt in it to denote that. If it learns a move in did in DP at a different level in Pt, put in both and use the switch to denote the different games.
...did that make sense? It's late, I'm tired. --((Marton imos)) 11:00, 21 September 2008 (UTC)

I uploaded a picture to use for a subpage, so I was wondering if it was okay to do that. I didn't know if I could have personal images. --PsychicRider 00:17, 3 October 2008 (UTC)

You can have two, and only two! That is a rule that is usually enforced by me, myself, and I. But I question why you asked Martonimos, I am the only one who deals with the personal image limit. MoldyOrange 00:37, 3 October 2008 (UTC)
Ok, thanks. And, honestly, I do not know. Probably because I didn't know. --PsychicRider 00:43, 3 October 2008 (UTC)
You can also link to images externally from photobucket or something, as long as it's on your userpage. It's a nice way to us multiple personal images without cluttering up the archives. --((Marton imos)) 00:56, 3 October 2008 (UTC)
Thanks for that useful information. If I end up having too, I'll do that. --PsychicRider 01:06, 3 October 2008 (UTC)

Userspace warnings, new template perhaps?

Do you think it might be a good idea to make a template to use for warning people that over-edit their userpages? - Kogoro | Talk to me | 18:07, 3 October 2008 (UTC)

They already have.--Kkllnn blastoise 18:09, 3 October 2008 (UTC)
Already is. Check out Template:UserWarning. That's what I put on his page the second time.
But what I am thinking of making is one for warning people who haven't gone over the limit, but are getting close. I figure it's better to warn them ahead of time than wait for them to go over and ding them for breaking a rule they may not have known about. --((Marton imos)) 18:10, 3 October 2008 (UTC)
Awesome, and I agree for one when they have hit the 3rd edit. It is better to try and get them to stop early, before they get hit for a rule-break. - Kogoro | Talk to me | 18:15, 3 October 2008 (UTC)
Done. See User:Martonimos/Edits. --((Marton imos)) 18:25, 3 October 2008 (UTC)
Looks good, but I checked it out on my sandbox, and it seems to constantly sign with your signature. Shouldn't it be set up to sign for whoever happens to use it? - Kogoro | Talk to me | 18:32, 3 October 2008 (UTC)
I think I fixed it. --electAbuzzzz 18:34, 3 October 2008 (UTC)
You did, but broke the directions for how to use it. I have fully fixed it up though ^_^ - Kogoro | Talk to me | 18:42, 3 October 2008 (UTC)
True, but you also caused the previous problem to return. I fixed it. Hopefully, now it works. --electAbuzzzz 18:45, 3 October 2008 (UTC)
Yea, I noticed that when you fixed the fixed fixing. It's definitely fully fixed now. And I hope the constant talk page changes hasn't made anyone get confused, or go crazy ^_^; - Kogoro | Talk to me | 18:50, 3 October 2008 (UTC)
Why must there be so many templates. They should read the message from the editor and know that there are only three, they shouldn't have to be told when the info is right there and in the welcome. MoldyOrange 19:04, 3 October 2008 (UTC)
There's something about that in the welcome message?--Kkllnn blastoise 19:07, 3 October 2008 (UTC)
Now there is, read the current one Template:Welcome. MoldyOrange 19:08, 3 October 2008 (UTC)
Funny, I don't know what I'm posting on those user's talk pages lol. But do other users seriously read those messages? I remember it took me 2 months for me to read mine...--Kkllnn blastoise 19:12, 3 October 2008 (UTC)
Yes, people should read the Messages from the Editor, but sadly, a lot of people don't bother to read it. Remember the million plus times people asked why they couldn't edit in the userspace during the full ban? It's better to warn them before they break the rule, and maybe they will get the hint of checking out the MftE, MoS, and other sections listed in the welcome message. A template just makes the warning process easier for people who wish to help other Bulbapedians know and understand the rules. Well, at least that is how I see it - Kogoro | Talk to me | 19:15, 3 October 2008 (UTC)
They are supposed to read it. If they don't and they get in trouble, that is their own fault. I just don't see the use for the "You are approaching the limit" template. It just seems that it involves keeping an even closer eye on who is editing the Userspace, and it also adds to the amount of edits done to the User talk space. They shouldn't have to be told! They should already know. This template is just a waste of server stress, userspace, and people's time that could be spent adding to the mainspace. MoldyOrange 19:17, 3 October 2008 (UTC)
If you really feel that way, Moldy, then go ahead and delete it. Not like I can stop you. If, on the other hand, you feel like helping people--which I think should be at least a small part of your job as an admin--then I suggest you let it stay. Even if it does go, I'll just wind up typing out the message by hand, because regardless of what you think, it seems to me that one edit to warn them ahead of time is better than two edits to let them go over and then warn them. --((Marton imos)) 22:48, 3 October 2008 (UTC)
If you want to waste your time using it, then go ahead. But if you do, that would be a shame... you are such a good main space contributor, and I'd hate to see your time go to waste by warning users. MoldyOrange 22:58, 3 October 2008 (UTC)

I apologize for the first part of that last post. It was rhetorical, and based on a logical fallacy. I stand the second part, though. As long as we have and use templates like this one or this one, we may as well have this one. --((Marton imos)) 03:07, 4 October 2008 (UTC)

Check Serebii. Is that a good enough of a source?--Blazevoir!! 22:00, 7 October 2008 (UTC)

I dunno, I know nothing about Serebii. Anyway, when two different people add a statement and refuse to give it a source, I figured Serebii was the likely culprit. They said it was Dim Sun "According to the official website," but I have no idea where said website is; the only link we have on the article is to the Japanese one. --((Marton imos)) 22:02, 7 October 2008 (UTC)
Serebii is a somewhat good source of Pokémon info, but it has a few errors. For example, when Pikachu was Serebii's Pokémon of the Week, it was stated that Pikachu could do a move it can't do. SharKing 01:44, 18 October 2008 (UTC)

Martonimos, give that one guy one more warning if he does it again, I think, then, are you allowed to block him. He must have one more warning before his punishment, well that's at least what I heard from other admins.--Tavisource 22:04, 7 October 2008 (UTC)

I don't think so

Just give him one for maybe a day or so, though. Nothing too extreme. --PAK Man Talk 22:05, 7 October 2008 (UTC)

I have never added this to the page, I'm just posting the source so you know. Serebii gets it from the European site.

This user has been adding low quality pics of Max's swimwear in the List of clothing in the anime article. I am giving you the pics here so that you can judge whether they are fit enough to be kept. I don't think that they are necessary. I mean, if we get better pics, then we may keep them but till then, I think they are only eating up space. After all, the page is supposed to be an article, not a picture gallery.--Diby 04:51, 25 October 2008 (UTC)

Hm. The problem with those pics is that the focus isn't on Max or his swimwear. Not... uh... not that I like pics to focus on pre-pubescent boys in their swimtrunks. Ahem. Anyway. The quality itself seems ok, but if you can find pics that don't require squinting to see what the subject of the article actually is, I'd suggest replacing the pics with those. --((Marton imos)) 21:59, 25 October 2008 (UTC)

Since you're online..

Candidates for protection category has three pages. One is a template used on 493 pages at least. Then there's the Event Pokémon list which seems to have had a war over Dragonite (comment by the template says until Nov 8th), and then one other page. Gywall(Talk) 10:21, 2 November 2008 (UTC)

OK, I've protected the two stat templates and the revolution page. I'm not too keen on the event Pokémon page, since the edit war on that one is two days old, but I have watched it so I can do something if it continues.
Anything else? --((Marton imos)) 10:29, 2 November 2008 (UTC)

Yes, well. Um... --((Marton imos)) 10:32, 2 November 2008 (UTC)

Surely 1 revert edit isnt a war. I know Kuki has made mistakes in the past, but he said to me he was trying his best to make sure he never got in trouble again. 1 revert edit surely isnt something bad, if he reverted it a 2nd time then maybe yeah that would be bad. Shouldn't you assume good faith in that Kuki was doing what he thought was best for the project but then stopped as he only reverted once which suggests to me he was doing his best to prevent an edit war but was banned anyway, so please will you undo the ban. --Guardian of Earth |SGMS 2010

Jmath and Nick. were edit-warring. Kuki may have only made 1 revert, but doing so did bring him into the war going on at the time. The block that he received wasn't unfair. Kuki should have kept out of it and let an Admin handle it. - Kogoro | Talk to me | 21:11, 3 November 2008 (UTC)
So, he wasn't apart of the war, he made one edit, why does that carry the same punishment as the ones who were warring? I think its harsh but if BP insist on giving a ban for such a minor contribution to a war shouldnt he at lkeast have a much reduced sentence, like only banned for a day or 2. --Guardian of Earth |SGMS 2010
Agreed. If two users are revert warring, and one other users does one revert to the article in question during the revert war, that user shouldn't be punished. Chocolate 21:22, 3 November 2008 (UTC)
Read the policy, people. "Put simply, if two or more users are involved in an edit war over an image for an article, and they continue after initially being asked to refrain from such behavior, all users involved will receive a block equal to the total amount of reversions between all users involved. I.E., if two users switch between an image four times each, they will each receive a block of eight days." By the strictest reading, that means all three of them get the same punishment. If you don't like it, you should be appealing to a higher power than I. --((Marton imos)) 23:12, 3 November 2008 (UTC)
Ah but, did you give him a warning to refrain from warring further, if you didnt, then you should have, if you did, obviously he took that warning and didnt edit further. --Guardian of Earth |SGMS 2010
He broke the policy. If you would just read it, you would see that he doesn't get a warning. And if I'm not mistaken, this wasn't his first breach of that particular policy, either, so he already knew what he was getting into. --((Marton imos)) 22:57, 4 November 2008 (UTC)
" and they continue after initially being asked to refrain from such behavior," isnt that a warning, you were meant to tell him to stop warring, not just ban himm straight away. --Guardian of Earth |SGMS 2010
Fine. I'll discuss this with the others. --((Marton imos)) 23:01, 4 November 2008 (UTC)
He was asked to stop when he was blocked for this same reason because of Lance's Dragonite. He was asked to stop before the incident with his mother. He was asked to stopped when he was blocked from the Archives. Looks like he got enough warnings for more than just one person. MaverickNate 23:46, 4 November 2008 (UTC)

I would luv 2 do that but i can edit anything on my userpage and to put on that wiki i would need the code that's on my ahatke kurosaki page which i can only get by clicking edit but they've blocked me from editing my user page.Darknesslover5000 05:26, 5 November 2008 (UTC) Thx. BTW where can i get a battery for my pokémon gold? it no longer saves.Darknesslover5000 00:02, 6 November 2008 (UTC)

i can't put it on that wiki

if i do the article will go on the the pokemon sprites won'tDarknesslover5000 03:00, 6 November 2008 (UTC)

...y'know what? Let's take this over there. I've been editing Wikia wikis for a while with the same username, so just talk to me, and we'll see if we can figure it out. --((Marton imos)) 04:09, 6 November 2008 (UTC)

Huh. There are two BP e-mails in my junk mail folder... hang on a moment. --((Marton imos)) 20:21, 6 November 2008 (UTC)

Slow down on editing the User: namespace. There are only three userspace edits allowed per day, and you have gone over the limit. Editing your userpage too much will lead to it being locked again. Instead of making multiple small edits, why not instead use the preview button (Alt + Shift + P) to check your edits before saving the page? Thank you. --((Marton imos)) 22:35, 6 November 2008 (UTC)

Glad I'm not alone in that, eh? TTEchidna 00:47, 8 November 2008 (UTC)

Charla image

2 things:

 1. JPGs are usually preferred over PNGs for anime screenshots.
 2. It isn't from YouTube, I have a lot of Pokémon episodes on my computer from DVDs. I'm just not the best at ripping screenshots.

OK, that new one is much better. I'll take down the template. --((Marton imos)) 21:44, 8 November 2008 (UTC)
Huh... until, like, ten seconds ago, I was seeing this one. But now that I'm looking at the older revisions, I'm seeing the one that was up now. I guess I owe you an apology... the server just hadn't updated thee new image, or something. --((Marton imos)) 21:46, 8 November 2008 (UTC)

Ash → Ash

Hi, I noticed you've been changing Ash to Ash on a lot of pages. Just so you know, there's no need to do that. The former way will stay show the same text and still bring you to the same page, so changing it only wastes an edit. Chocolate (Merry Christmas!) 01:41 12/25/2008

It saves on coding in the page. --Marton(I'm Jewish)imos 04:37, 25 December 2008 (UTC)
But not a lot of people care about the difference. Chocolate (Merry Christmas!) 16:14 12/25/2008
We are advised to use link templates, and that link template works just like the link there has been before, so it's good to change them to be as link templates. UltimateSephiroth (about me · chat · edits) 16:30, 25 December 2008 (UTC)
But it just wastes time. It'll still take you to the same article and show the same text. Chocolate (Merry Christmas!) 16:44 12/25/2008
No, Marty (can I call you that?) is right. We do the same thing for Politoed → Politoed for the same reason. We simply always want to encourage the use of link templates. --ニョロトノ666 03:04, 26 December 2008 (UTC)
But nobody will see any difference if they're not looking at the page in the edit box. Chocolate (Merry Christmas!) 17:44 12/26/2008
So there's no reason not to do it. In the meantime, when somebody does look at the page in the edit box, things are that much shorter and that much more manageable for them.
"Not a lot of people care about the difference?" Obviously, I, and at least two others, do. --Marton(I'm Jewish)imos 18:15, 26 December 2008 (UTC)

I'm reluctant to unprotect a template like that without consulting the others. What do you need done? --Marton(I'm Jewish)imos 13:14, 1 January 2009 (UTC)
I can't really explain it in words. Basically, I'm going to edit a few things. You don't have to worry about me "destroying" it or something. I'm the one who handles those articles anyway. *tc26* 13:18, 1 January 2009 (UTC)
All right. But remember, we protect those templates in the first place because they're an easy target for vandals. --Marton(I'm Jewish)imos 13:22, 1 January 2009 (UTC)
You may now protect it. Thanks again! *tc26* 14:05, 1 January 2009 (UTC)

Is it possible for admins to archive sections of a talk page, while still keeping the revision history? If so, most of Talk:Version-exclusive Pokémon could be archived now. Probably best to keep the most recent stuff, so people know what I've done and won't ask the stupid questions. — THE TROM — 10:17, 4 January 2009 (UTC)

Hrmmm... if there is, I don't know of it. I could archive it, and manually restore the discussion, although that'd piss off SP252. Alternatively, we could archive it, and at the top, place a notice telling people what you did and linking to the discussion. --((Marton imos)) 10:19, 4 January 2009 (UTC)
Well the discussion's still going, but the whole page is more than 55kb. It's up to you what we do. (If it was me I'd move the page, then shift back the recent stuff. It's only a few posts and they're mostly mine anyway). — THE TROM — 10:22, 4 January 2009 (UTC)

What the?!

I barely use this site so I don't know much about it, but exactly why does every undone thing by someone have to stay on my talk page? I don't want them there. I have already read them, and it makes me wonder why people keep taking down that Finneon looks feminine. They want their opinion supported so they take mine down? Finneon looks very feminine to me. - unsigned comment from Brats817 (talkcontribs)

I'm just an admin. I don't make policy, I just enforce it. The talk page info page says that you can't remove comments, so if I see someone doing that, I'm going to undo it.
As far as Finneon goes, that's a pretty stupid piece of trivia to begin with, and if it were up to me, it'd be removed altogether. I guess the others are more feminine because they (mostly) have boobs. --((Marton imos)) 07:18, 18 January 2009 (UTC)

Thank you

I have looked at quite a few discussions on this and didnt really know what to think but now that i think about it you are right. --Landfish7 23:57, 18 January 2009 (UTC)

I wasn't aiming the protect at you, but now that you mention it, could you please delete Talk:Marble? It doesn't really have anything that helps the article in it.--freezingCOLD (page, talk) 23:10, 22 January 2009 (UTC)

As long as you see I'm online, you can come to me with these things. It's just that much easier, since I don't have to remove the template afterwards. And done. --((Marton imos)) 23:17, 22 January 2009 (UTC)

Hey, yeah regarding your last edit to the template, changing all those links from using Template:La to normal, which was actually what it was before EspeonA changed them to use the la template, just wondering which is the right process? The la template seems to be used in many other places.     -–<×vVvvv τλικ to ς1tHςι3r ^^vVv×>–- 07:50, 26 January 2009 (UTC)

Mav deleted Template:Fi on the grounds that it was "lazy," and since La is similar to that, I figured we should phase it out. There are some ridiculous link templates out there, and I think it's time we started cleaning up the list. --((Marton imos)) 10:14, 26 January 2009 (UTC)
"La" standing for lazy :P righto, should we go through the list of pages on which the template's used in and rectify them? What other similar templates are out there that'll be phased out?     -–<×vVvvv τλικ to ς1tHςι3r ^^vVv×>–- 10:58, 26 January 2009 (UTC)
That's what I'm doing. As for the others, hopefully I can start a discussion with the other admins; failing that, they'll discuss it without me on AIM. --((Marton imos)) 21:58, 26 January 2009 (UTC)
I personally think Template:La and Template:Fi aren't lazy at all, since they still require you to write out the words that are needed to use correctly. Template:Soa is lazy, because it uses no effort at all to link Pokémon Ranger: Shadows of Almia, but Colosseum Leader is easier than Taylor because it avoids having to retype the same things over again. In fact, to me, it's just a nifty template that's similar to linking Colosseum Leader Taylor except it shows up as just Taylor instead of Colosseum Leader Taylor. eA 23:15, 26 January 2009 (UTC)
Still, it's not that too hard to just type the name an extra time, because templates, even if it's by an incy little bit, still affect server speed, and when you get heaps of templates and pages all interlinking with each other, especially if templates start being used for all sorts of 'lazy' reasons, (no matter how handy it becomes), it's not a good idea.
Also, the Ci template, does that get used anymore? Just that I've never actually seen it being used myself.     -–<×vVvvv τλικ to ς1tHςι3r ^^vVv×>–- 00:06, 27 January 2009 (UTC)
I always see Ci used whenever there's a contest going on or something.. Like, Pacifidlog Pokémon Contest or Hearthome Ribbon. That goes for To too. I can't remember any other times it's used off the top of my head. eA 05:14, 27 January 2009 (UTC)
Strictly speaking, we don't need any of the LTs, as it's easy enough to write out Psychic (move), which becomes Psychic. The only ones we really should use are p, m, a, and t (although we often use type instead), as that way, people are more likely to remember the parentheticals. g and pkmn allow us to avoid hunting down the e-acute for Pokémon in some cases. Other than those, they're mostly for convenience. I'm not immune from this laziness myself; I designed badge because of all the badge links that work like that. But templates like DL and especially OBP bother me. At that point, it's almost as easy to write out the link as it is to use the template.
Still, in this specific case, Mav's the one who made the decision, and he says he spoke with TTE first, so there's not a lot I can do about it. --((Marton imos)) 21:31, 27 January 2009 (UTC)

Since this section seems appropriate, ci. How difficult is it to put Lilycove? May I have your permission to subst it away?—BlazevoirTalk/Contribs 22:21, 27 January 2009 (UTC)

I don't know if I'm a high enough power to give that permission, especially since I'm sort of out-of-the-loop as admins go. Personally, I'm a little more comfortable with that particular template, as it does have a specific purpose and save a few keystrokes. Not many, though. I'd suggest asking TTE, who Mav says has a system for determining what is or isn't laziness template (although I'd rather he not blame me for filling his talk page, so maybe you should e-mail or PM him instead). --((Marton imos)) 22:26, 27 January 2009 (UTC)
I put it on his talk page. Don't blame Martonimos, TTE!—BlazevoirTalk/Contribs 22:37, 27 January 2009 (UTC)

Administrator Status

In order to keep our Administrator list currently up-to-date, this is a generic "are you there" message.

You've been assumed as currently active and are already marked as such, but if you disagree with this, either edit the List of administrators to reflect your status (Active, Hiatus, Inactive), or reply here when you get the chance. -- Jïörüjï Ðērākō.>.cнаt^ 16:10, 4 February 2009 (UTC)

Hmm, I'll mark you as "active" for now, but a "semi-active" status might be in order for those who aren't always available.
But so long as you're checking messages at approximately a human level, I'll say that's still active-worthy. I'm not on all day either. -- Jïörüjï Ðērākō.>.cнаt^ 21:20, 4 February 2009 (UTC)
