Gouging Fire is based on Entei. It also resembles ceratopsian dinosaurs, most notably the Styracosaurus due to both having a similar arrangement of horns around the head.
Name origin
Gouging Fire is literally gouging fire.
Ugatsuhomura can be taken literally as 穿つ炎 ugatsu homura (piercing flame).
