Ferroseed (Japanese: テッシード Tesseed) is a dual-type Grass/Steel Pokémon.
It evolves into Ferrothorn starting at level 40.
Biology
Physiology
Ferroseed is similar in appearance to a durian. Both are spherical "plants" that have many thorns around their bodies that are used for protection. Ferroseed have metallic bodies with band-like stripes and green thorns. They also have two small yellow eyes with black pupils.
Gender differences
None.
Special abilities
Ferroseed can stick their spikes into cave walls to absorb the minerals from the rocks.
Behavior
When threatened, Ferroseed attacks by shooting a barrage of spikes, which gives it a chance to escape by rolling away.
Habitat
Ferroseed live in caves.
Diet

Trivia
- No other Pokémon have the same type combination as Ferroseed and its evolved form.
- Ferroseed and its evolution have the fewest weaknesses of all Grass-type Pokémon.
- Ferroseed is both the slowest Grass-type Pokémon and the slowest Steel-type Pokémon.
- Ferroseed and Ferrothorn cannot learn Attract, despite having genders and being compatible with other TMs. It shares this trait with Larvesta, Volcarona and Nincada.
Origin
Ferroseed may be based on cockleburs, durians, or conkers, seeds from horse-chestnut trees or datura, all of which are known for their tough skin and thorns. It may also be based on a mace or flail.
Name origin
Ferroseed is a combination of ferrum (Latin for iron) or ferro (Portuguese and Italian for iron) and seed.
Tesseed may be a combination of 鉄 tetsu (iron) and seed.
