Rhyperior (Japanese: ドサイドン Dosydon) is a Generation IV Pokémon that evolves from Rhydon.

Biology

Rhyperior is the evolved form of Rhydon, a Pokémon from a previous generation, and appears in Pokémon Diamond and Pearl. It stands completely upright, and its color has changed from grey to black with burnt orange plates, formed by a type of biological "fusion" with the Protector item, needed for Rhyhorn to evolve. Its second horn grew out from a Rhydon having the main horn pointed forward. The female's upper horn is smaller. In addition to its extra armor, it has developed an Ankylosaur tail, and holes in the palms of its hands, which it uses to fire rocks at enemies, thus why it learns the move Rock Wrecker. According to the Pokédex, it sometimes accidentally fires Geodude instead of rocks.

Physiology

Gender differences

The upper horn on a female Rhyperior is smaller than a male's.

Special abilities

According to its Generation IV Pokédex entries, it can fire rocks and Geodude like cannonballs by use of its arms.

It's signature move is Rock Wrecker

Trivia

Origin

It appears to draw much of its inspiration from a rhinoceros, aspects of various dinosaurs (such as the triceratops) and a tank.

Name origin

Dosydon's name is deceptively complex. The Do part that is at the begining may be from the word 土 do, which is Japanese for ground/soil, or 怒 do, which means anger, or ど do, the Japanese prefix that makes a noun sound stronger; サイ sai, Japanese for rhinocerous; and don, a Greek word meaning tooth, commonly used in the names of dinosaurs.

Rhyperior comes from the "Rhy" of its pre-evolutions and "superior"
