Appendix:Black and White walkthrough/Section 6

Route 4

As soon as you leave the Gym, Bianca will call you on the Xtransceiver asking for a battle at the entrance to Route 4. Go to the Pokémon Centre and heal your team, then run down any of the northern roads right to the end, in order to reach the Central Park. Once there, take the north road and enter the gate. When you start walking through the gate, Bianca will appear and without further adieu, the battle will begin.

If the player chose Snivy:   If the player chose Tepig:   If the player chose Oshawott:

Bianca isn't all that hard to beat. Her Herdier is weak to Template:Type2 attacks so use them against it. When battling her elemental monkey, it's probably best that you use yours against it since it will have a type advantage over her's. Use Template:Type2 moves against her Munna and use your Starter against Bianca's. Remember that Bianca will use a Super Potion if her Pokémon get down into the red HP zone. After you defeat Bianca, she will leave the gate through the Castelia City side. Now, heal your Pokémon again, because quite soon, you will battling Cheren.

Head out of the gate through the north exit and you will find yourself on a route with a never-ending sandstorm raging. This will be a disadvantage to you in battles, as sandstorms damage all types on the battlefield except for the Rock-, Ground-, and Template:Type2s.

Due to the absence of tall grass in deserts, wild Pokémon on Route 4 can be found in the dark sands. Now, head north up the paved road and talk to Cheren, who will battle you.

If the player chose Snivy:   If the player chose Tepig:   If the player chose Oshawott:

Cheren is only slightly harder to beat than Bianca. His Pidove is very weak to Template:Type2s, so if you have an Electric-type on your team, then that would be your best bet against it. Next up is his elemental monkey. Use whatever moves are effective against it (for example, Fire against Pansage, or Water against Pansear). Cheren's Liepard is horribly weak to Template:Type2s, so if you caught one in the Pinwheel Forest, then use it against Liepard. Finally, Cheren will send out his Starter. If you want to maintain a type advantage, send out your elemental monkey to battle it, as it always has the type strong against Cheren's Starter's type. Remember that Cheren's Starter is holding a Sitrus Berry, so be careful when lowering its HP. After defeating Cheren, your Xtransceiver will ring and Professor Juniper will ask you and Cheren to meet her in front of the Nimbasa City gate.

Route 4 is extremely easy to navigate. It's basically a straight route to Nimbasa City, with a handful of Trainers to battle on the way. The pavement will disappear after a while, so you need to navigate your way through the sand. When you reach the pavement, instead of going directly north, which will take you to Nimbasa City, head west along a second paved path. Follow the path and you will find yourself on a sandy path. Follow that north, then west and head through the gate nearby.

The Desert Resort

The Desert Resort is a large and open area of sand. There are several Trainers here and many patches of dark sand.

Make your way through the Resort, battling Trainers as you go. Eventually you'll reach a place where there are several statues of mysterious Pokémon. These Pokémon are in fact Darmanitan when they are in their Zen Mode. You will have the opportunity to catch these Darmanitan later on in the game. Behind these Darmanitan statues is a passaeway leading down to the Relic Castle. Head down this passageway to enter the Relic Castle.

Inside the Relic Castle

Note that there are more than two Trainers in the Relic Castle, it's just that the others cannot be battled until later on in the game. Also, some of the items and available Pokémon can only be found on the lower floors, which again aren't important until later on. Anyway, head north, then west. Remember to walk and not run through the quicksand patches. If you run, then you will be pulled under and will have to reenter this particular floor. However, if you walk then you won't fall through the floor. When you have gone as far west as possible, walk south and talk to the Backpacker nearby. She will give you a choice between two Fossils: the Cover Fossil and the Plume Fossil.

Fossil Selected Resurrected Pokémon
  Cover Fossil Tirtouga
  Plume Fossil Archen

Tirtouga is a Water/Template:Type2, while Archen is a Rock/Template:Type2. The one you pick has no effect on future storyline elements, so choose the one you like best. Now that you have chosen the fossil you want, you can either return to Route 4 and go north to Nimbasa City, or you can head all the way back to Nacrene City to resurrect it.

Nacrene Museum

Once you arrive at Nacrene City, head straight to the museum and talk to the lady behind the desk on your right. She will go off with the fossil to resurrect it and will give you the newly-resurrected Pokémon. Make sure you have less than six Pokémon in your Party. Both Pokémon will be at Lv. 25. Now, return to Route 4.

Route 4

Now that your back on Route 4, head to where the pavement reappears and follow it along until you reach the gate. Once inside, head over to where Prof. Juniper and Cheren are standing. Juniper will talk for a bit, then give both you and Cheren 10 Ultra Balls and head back in the desert to meet Bianca. Now, Cheren will talk about how Juniper gave the three of you Pokédexes as a reason for you to go on a journey. Cheren will also go back to Route 4 in order to catch more Pokémon for the Pokédex. Now, if you leave the gate via the northern exit you will find yourself in Nimbasa City.
