XY Blisters
Bulbanews has multiple articles related to this subject:
In addition to the XY Theme Decks, alongside the expansion on February 5, 2014, six different XY Blisters made their way to store shelves. The six different Blisters include pairs of Single Pack Blisters, Two Pack Blisters, and Three Pack Blisters, each featuring exclusive Cosmos Holofoil promotional cards and coin. The two Single Pack Blisters each feature one booster pack as well as a Cosmos Holofoil print of either Dragon Vault Salamence or Plasma Freeze Dragonite. The Two Pack Blisters, much like the Black & White Two Pack Blisters, each feature a trio of exclusive Cosmos Holofoil promotional cards. The first features Dark Explorers Venusaur, Boundaries Crossed Charizard, and Plasma Blast Blastoise, while the second features Dragon Vault Dragonite, and Dragons Exalted Garchomp and Hydreigon. The two Three Pack Blisters feature Cosmos Holofoil prints of either Dragons Exalted Gyarados or Plasma Storm Gallade. The print of Blastoise erroneously lists the copyright as ©2012, even though the Plasma Blast expansion was released in 2013 and the Blister Packs in 2014. This was corrected when the 6 promotional cards were printed again eight months later in the XY Knock Out Collection.
For the initial release of the expansion and Blister Packs, the Gyarados and Gallade Three Pack Blisters were not available in North America and were only available internationally. It wasn't until their inclusion on PokémonCenter.com in August 2014 that prompted their distribution to the North American market.
Upon first release, all the coins included within the Blister Packs were repackaged coins primarily from Noble Victories to Dark Explorers related merchandise. Included within shipments of later packages, however, were new coins exclusive to these Blister Packs. Included in the shipment of Garchomp-EX Boxes were Single Pack Blisters containing newer large-sized coins. A limited release of Black-backed versions of the Xerneas and Yveltal coins included in the XY Theme Decks were distributed exclusively to Target stores, while a large-sized Black-backed Pikachu coin was distributed to every store that sells these Blister Packs (including Target). The Two Pack Blisters also received an additional shipment, included this time with the Flashfire expansion products, that included a Large-sized, Silver Cracked Ice Holofoil, Black-backed Deoxys Coin within the Kanto starter evolution Blister Pack and a Large-sized, Silver Cracked Ice Holofoil, Black-backed Genesect Coin within the Dragon-type Blister Pack.
