BREAK Starter Pack

Main article: BREAK Starter Pack (TCG)

The Starter Pack (Japanese: スターターパック) was released on February 27, 2016 to celebrate the 20th Anniversary of the Pokémon franchise. As such, there is specific focus on Pokémon from the first Generation, and the Starter Pack itself takes inspiration from the original one released in 1996 both in terms of design and the random nature of the cards included. Each pack includes a selection of Pokémon grouped by evolutionary line and is guaranteed to contain a M Pokémon-EX card—either M Venusaur-EX or M Charizard-EX. These are accompanied with a mixture of Trainer cards. Each pack also includes a rulebook, a set of damage and status counters, and a coin.

Kamex Mega Battle merchandise

The Kamex Mega Battle was a large-scale event that took place at different venues across Japan and offered players the opportunity to earn invitations to the 2016 World Championships. It took place at five locations across the country: at the Nagoya Trade & Industry Center, Nagoya on May 5, 2016; at Intex Osaka, Osaka on May 15, 2016; at Makuhari Messe, Chiba on May 21 and 22, 2016; and at the West Japan General Exhibition Center, Kitakyushu on May 29, 2016.

Each venue held two main tournaments: the Kamex Mega Battle and the Victory Battle, plus a number of side events. All participants were given a Garchomp-EX promotional card featuring the event logo upon entry. Both main tournaments had 2 age categories: the A League and the B League. Each were structured in 'Stages' and players could advance by winning a requisite number of battles. Most participants would start at the 'First Stage' and could advance to the 'Second Stage' by recording 1 win. Two preceding events, the Kamex Gym Battle, held between March 1 and 27, 2016 at participating Pokémon Card Gym venues; and the Kamex Pokémon Center Battle, held on April 16 and 17, 2016 at participating Pokémon Centers, allowed the top 3 players to earn a bye and enter the Kamex Mega Battle tournament at the 'Second Stage'. Players could progress to the 'Premier Stage' by recording 2 consecutive wins at the 'Second Stage', also earning themselves a promotional Fighting Fury Belt card. By recording a further 3 consecutive wins at the 'Premier Stage', players could progress to the single-elimination 'Climax Stage'. The top 3 players of the Victory Battle tournament would earn a Victory Ring trophy card.

The top 8 players from the Kamex Mega Battle tournament and the top 4 players from the Victory Battle tournament in each of their respective leagues would subsequently earn an invitation to the Kamex Mega Battle Japan Championships, held at the Tokyo International Exhibition Center, Tokyo on June 19, 2016. The top 4 players of the finals in each league would earn an invitation to the World Championships, and the overall winners of each league were awarded a Mega Blastoise trophy.

Players could also earn Play Points by participating in either of the main tournaments or in one of several side events and redeem them for prizes. Eligible side events included the Kangaskhan Tag Battle, the Sylveon Girls Battle, the 3 on 3 Battle, the Knockout Battle, and the Organizer's Area Mini Tournament. Players could redeem 3 Play Points for a Crobat BREAK promotional card and 6 Play Points for a M Garchomp-EX or Garchomp Spirit Link promotional card, given at random. Participants of the Kangaskhan Tag Battle and the Sylveon Girls Battle were given an original clear file with designs reflecting the event. The top 3 players these two events were also awarded acrylic trophies.

Pop-up Pokémon Stores present at each venue carried merchandise to commemorate the event. These included Kamex Mega Battle Sleeves (Japanese: デッキシールドカメックスメガバトル Deck Shield: Kamex Mega Battle), a Kamex Mega Battle Limited Memorial Pin (Japanese: カメックスメガバトル 開催記念限定ピンズ), and a special Blastoise version of the BREAK Starter Pack (Japanese: スターターパック カメックスver.). A voucher included in copies of Kamex Mega Battle Special Packs, previously released in April, could be redeemed at these stores for a set of gold Squirtle and Blastoise coins. A pop-up purikura photo booth was also present at PokéKyun♥ Photo Spots at each venue, which offered a promotional Pikachu card to anyone who took a photo there.

Sleeves: Each pack contains 32 card sleeves.

The Volcanion Sleeves (Japanese: デッキシールド ボルケニオン Deck Shield: Volcanion) feature the same Yuta Otani illustration of Volcanion as the Fever-Burst Fighter booster pack art complete with the expansion's industrial city theme in the background.
The Shiny Mega Gardevoir Sleeves (Japanese: デッキシールド 色違いのメガサーナイト Deck Shield: Differently Colored Mega Sirnight) portray the villainous Shiny Mega Gardevoir shrouded in mist with its gleaming red eye as the primary source of color. These sleeves could only be purchased at Pokémon Centers.
The Mega Steelix Dual-type Version Sleeves (Japanese: デッキシールド メガハガネール デュアルタイプver. Deck Shield: Mega Haganeil Dual-type ver.) feature a split illustration of Mega Steelix with its regular and Shiny coloration, a reference to the dual-type M Steelix-EX card included in the Fever-Burst Fighter expansion. These sleeves could only be purchased at Pokémon Centers.
The Fossil Design Sleeves (Japanese: デッキシールド 化石柄 Deck Shield: Fossil Design) feature an illustration that bears resemblance to the reverse of a typical Pokémon TCG card preserved in rock, complete with Dome and Helix Fossils. These sleeves were exclusive to Pokémon Centers.
The Fluffy Sleeves (Japanese: デッキシールド もふもふ Deck Shield: Fluffy) feature Meowth contently resting amongst a herd of Mareep along with other Pokémon with cotton-like attributes, Swablu and Whimsicott. These sleeves could only be purchased at Pokémon Centers.
