Invisibility

In Generation I only, Acid Armor appears to make user invisible for the duration of the current battle, although this has no effect in gameplay. The user's sprite disappears if the battle animations are active, unless the move fails because the user's Defense has already been raised six stages.

The invisible Pokémon becomes visible again if it uses Minimize (turning into a small Minimize sprite), Substitute (being replaced by a Substitute), or Transform (being transformed into the same species as the target), or after it faints, switches out, or the battle ends. It also remains visible in the summary.

If a Pokémon with an active Substitute uses Acid Armor, the Substitute becomes invisible. However, the Pokémon will appear visible once it uses any move (because the visible Pokémon appears from behind the Substitute to use the move), and the Substitute becomes visible at this point as well. The Pokémon also appears visible if the Substitute breaks.

If a Pokémon uses Transform on an invisible target, the invisibility is ignored and the user will become a visible copy of the target.
