Post-release
Eternamax Eternatus
Eternamax Eternatus exists as an alternate form of Eternatus in the game's data; however, it is not obtainable in-game and has not yet been distributed. Outside the battle with it, it can only be seen during the move animation for Eternabeam. Its base stats are higher than that of a normal Eternatus and it has a base experience yield of 1125.

Shiny Pokémon
For the sake of consistency, all Pokémon have a shiny form but some of them cannot be obtained as they have been locked out of being shiny outside of the possibility of shiny variants being distributed via events. The Starter Pokémon the player obtains are also shiny locked but their shiny forms can be obtained via breeding. As Zarude and Zarude Dada form were only distributed via events, it is currently impossible to have their shiny forms.

Unused Max Raid Battle stats
All Pokémon that can Dynamax have Max Raid battle stats with some of the stat fields being blank meaning those Dynamaxed Pokémon are most likely not meant to be encountered in any Max Raid Battle encounter.
Moves
Main: List of moves by availability (Generation VIII)
Pokémon Sword and Shield removed various moves from the game, they all have the same description of "This move can't be used. It's recommended that this move is forgotten. Once forgotten, this move can't be remembered." Attempting to use a Pokémon in battle that only knows unusable moves will always result in the Pokémon using Struggle instead and acting as if it has no moves available to select.
Items
- Main article: List of unobtainable items → Wishing Chip
The Wishing Chip is not normally available as an item. However, it is present in the internal data of the games. The same applies to the Band Autograph.
Additionally, Mega Stones, colored orbs, and Z-Crystals, introduced in prior generations, are present internally but are unused
