The lower path is on sand. There are five Trainers here, four of whom will only battle if spoken to. There are a few large boulders scattered around, along with two rocks that can be {{m|Rock Smash|smashed}}. To the northeast of the path, there are two buildings: the {{p|Pikachu}} Fan Club, which contains a Trainer disguised as a Pikachu, and a house hosting the Pokémon Size Contest, in which a Fisherman will give a prize if the {{player}} shows him a large Pokémon of his request. Southeast is a short path to two grassy patches that contain items.

There is another house on the beach just to the right of the Pikachu Fan Club. This house contains a Fisherman who has a dream that a Trainer would bring him a giant Pokémon. He will give a prize if the player shows him a large Pokémon of his request.
The eastern beach house hosts the Pokémon Size Contest. The contest is run by a Fisherman who has a dream that a Trainer will bring him a giant {{p|Remoraid}}. If the player shows him a Remoraid, he will calculate its [[Size and weight variation|size]], and give the player a [[Net Ball]] if it is larger than the previous record. The initial record is 23.7 inches (60.1 cm{{sup/4|DPPt}}/60.2 cm{{sup/8|BDSP}}).

Route 222 (Japanese: 222ばんどうろ Route 222) is a route in southeastern Sinnoh, connecting Sunyshore City and Valor Lakefront. In Pokémon Diamond and Pearl and Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, this route is accessible only after the player stops Team Galactic at the Spear Pillar and catches or defeats DialgaDBD/PalkiaPSP. In Platinum, this route is accessible only after the player leaves the Distortion World and talks to Professor Rowan.

Route 222 in Diamond and Pearl

Route description

Just at the beginning of the route, there is a large patch of grass to the north. Along the upper half of the patch's left side are three short paths going west, the middle one of which contains a hidden Full Restore at its end. Heading east from the patch of grass, there is a fork in the road, leading to upper and lower paths.

The upper path has a few Trainers, a soft soil patch, and a thin branch next to a ledge with an item at the end. There is a short path leading behind the gate. To the left is a grass patch, and to the right is a Cut tree that leads to an item.

The lower path is on sand. There are five Trainers here, four of whom will only battle if spoken to. There are a few large boulders scattered around, along with two rocks that can be smashed. To the northeast of the path, there are two buildings: the Pikachu Fan Club, which contains a Trainer disguised as a Pikachu, and a house hosting the Pokémon Size Contest, in which a Fisherman will give a prize if the player shows him a large Remoraid. Southeast is a short path to two grassy patches that contain items.

There is a Honey Tree and a Trainer near the Sunyshore City gatehouse.

Pikachu Fan Club

Pikachu Fan Club
Pikapikapikah! Pikapika?

The western beach house hosts the "Pikachu Fan Club", which contains a man with six Pikachu. He claims to be planning to challenge the Pokémon Championship using only Pikachu. One of the Pikachu is actually a Trainer in disguise, who will battle the player using two Pikachu of her own.

Pokémon Size Contest

Pokémon Size Contest
Big Pokémon Wanted!

The eastern beach house hosts the Pokémon Size Contest. The contest is run by a Fisherman who has a dream that a Trainer will bring him a giant Remoraid. If the player shows him a Remoraid, he will calculate its size, and give the player a Net Ball if it is larger than the previous record. The initial record is 23.7 inches (60.1 cmDPPt/60.2 cmBDSP).
