It evolves from Tangela via level-up while knowing AncientPower.
Biology
Physiology
Tangrowth is a 6-foot tall Pokémon with a black body wrapped in blue vines. Its stubby black feet are tipped with red. Tangrowth has grown a pair of blue arms that have three fingers that are tipped with red. Tangrowth's arms are boneless and are unable to respond to pain, meaning that the arms can break off and Tangrowth wouldn't mind if the situation actually did occur. A pair of saucer-like eyes peek out from beneath the tangled mess of vines. The skin around its eyes is black, and so is most of its feet, so Tangrowth probably have black skin.
Gender differences
A female Tangrowth's fingers are completely red while a male's fingers only have red tips.

Trivia
- Until the release of Pokémon Platinum, the only way to obtain Tangrowth was to transfer a Tangela via Pal Park and evolve it. This was the only case in which a Generation IV Pokémon was only obtainable from using the Pal Park.
Origin
Tangrowth may be based off of an exaggerated concept of a shaggy caveman.
Name origin
Tangrowth's name is derived from tangle and growth.
Mojumbo's name comes from もじゃもじゃ mojyamojya, which means shaggy or unkempt. It is also possible that the "jumbo" part of its name refers that it is roughly twice the size of Tangela.
