Pokémon Tretta and descriptions
Hey nuva-kal, I'd like your opinion on the matter of referencing Pokédex entries on the Origin section like what the TCG does. I've noticed that some are not the same, so the format would be that the Pokémon description comes from so-and-so, though slightly reworded. ht14 03:28, 31 October 2013 (UTC)
- Couldn't that just be because many of the tretta pucks were created during the time when we only had Umeko's translations of dex entries, and not the quoted english ones from the games? That seems like something that would be forgotten to repair after the games had come out. I know Freeze Bolt/Cold Flare is still having issues with dex entries, for most likely the same sort of reason. MaverickNate 03:37, 31 October 2013 (UTC)
- Oh, I forgot to mention and did not clarify earlier… would it be okay to add Pokédex entry references on the Origin section on the Tretta articles? Thanks. ht14 03:40, 31 October 2013 (UTC)
- A lot of the descriptions are derived from more than one Pokédex entry. Some of the earlier Tretta have an entry part from Black and part from White, with some of the later ones taking entries from Gold/Silver/Crystal, etc., or featuring original additions to them. I'd be tempted to leave them as they are. ~~nuva-kal 14:40, 3 November 2013 (UTC)

Master's Key
I've discovered a dispute with the research you've done with Master's Key on The UPCCC. According to the forum posts over there, there are more than we initially thought. Would you be able to look into this a little bit more? I do not know how extensive your initial research was, so I'm hoping we can uncover why there's a discrepancy. MaverickNate 20:19, 9 December 2013 (UTC)
- Hi Nate. I'm guessing the thread is for members only, as I can't view it. I can't pinpoint the exact article I derived the numbers from, but there are various pages from 4gamer and dengenki online that detail the breakdowns of the winners. I initially thought they were only given to the TCG top-ranking players until I saw two sets of trophy cases: one for the TCG (red), and one for the video games (blue). There is a mention that 8 players from the TCG in each division would go on to represent Japan in the World Championships - would this bring it more in line with the other source? As there was never much coverage for these (same with Wonder Platinum as well), these numbers were only based on the breakdowns I have seen. ~~nuva-kal 11:14, 19 December 2013 (UTC)
Modified
To be honest, I only really wanted the modified section to be on these pages. I don't really find the modified silver background to appropriate on any of the other pages using
. (I never really intended for that series of table templates to be used anywhere else. I'm pretty sure the "char=Yes" option was added just to make it work elsewhere, when I kind of wanted to create something different.) With it being used on pages currently, like Brock, Misty, Team Rocket, etc, I do believe adding in the modified pushed those rather large pages extremely close to their template limits, and they might very well soon break. Werdnae has been revamping templates as much as he can in order to lessen the problems, and actually cautioned me about how the modified addition might become a problem if it is used too much. It might be time that we end up creating a new set of table templates more appropriate for use on character/item/place pages' "In the TCG" sections. MaverickNate 18:35, 27 December 2013 (UTC)
- The "char=Yes" was added to save creating another template that would more or less do the same as the cardlist one. While I do like the template as a concise visual summary, it does become a bit jarring with many reprints, like on the Cheren article. What did you have in mind for an initial solution? ~~nuva-kal 19:16, 27 December 2013 (UTC)
- I personally don't really think things like rarity and card no. are completely important when telling about the subject's role within the card game. I made an edit to Pal Pad that I think is more appropriate to what the section should be doing. It discusses the subject's role, while also allows the reader to head to the actual article to learn more information specific to the printed card. The only issue I see with this might be specific people with many Pokémon or cards in the TCG (like Brock, Misty, Professor Oak), but as a solution, maybe linking to the person category (Category:Brock (TCG)) would be the solution. Those characters could also probably use a table with minimal information of what Pokémon/cards exist (honestly just cardname, with link, and type would suffice in my mind), but most won't really need it. Tretta and Battrio on species pages
Is there any particular reason listings of Battrio and Tretta pucks aren't anywhere on species pages? There's a header for the incredibly short-lived TFG, so it seems very strange that we don't have even a link to the category of pucks featuring a certain species. Glik (talk) 16:54, 2 March 2014 (UTC)
- I see Battrio and Tretta as being very niche areas of the franchise since they have not been localised outside of Japan (although Battrio did have a brief spell in Taiwan). The TFG had a large initial marketing campaign, and is arguably more recognisable to English-speaking audiences, though it is not a decision I made to add these to the main species pages. People who are knowledgable about other franchise areas, such as Topps cards, Zukan figures, or Moncollé figures might argue "don't these deserve links as well?", causing them to be more cluttered. As I don't tend to edit these pages, this is not my call to make, but I wouldn't be steadfast against adding them. ~~nuva-kal 19:34, 8 March 2014 (UTC)
- Comparing general merchandise to merchandise integral to playing a Pokémon game looks like a losing battle, but I see the point. Actually, it gives me a thought I'll throw Adyniz's way. With Project:Pokédex not having a project lead, who would I contact to see about possibly getting sections for the pucks? Or would that be a question better suited for the forums? glikglak 01:05, 9 March 2014 (UTC)
McDonald's Collection TCG
Hello! I'm not sure if this is already somewhere in Bulbapedia, but I bumped across this website recently. I know next to nothing about the TCG and so you may already know about this, but there seems there to be a third McDonald's Collection which was released exclusively in France in 2013. Not sure how reliable this source is though. What are your thoughts on this? --Wowy(Talk) 08:06, 20 March 2014 (UTC)
- Hahaha, OMG the spread of information within this community is fantastic. I was the one who originally showed Marcus the few original cards from the promo set that we knew of at the time, and it motivated him to collect the entire 12 card group for his Pokéllector site. If you need more information about it, here's a 'Gym thread with information that I posted about it. I only refrained from doing anything about it here because I was unsure how we should be going about language exclusive sets in the card infoboxes that aren't english or Japanese. Tretta Infobox suggestion
I saw your question to Werdnae, but I'm not sure if I should respond on Werdnae's talk page. I can offer a workable solution. It goes basically like this...
{{#switch: {}|1=Pokémon Tretta League Opening!|2=Search for the Legendary Pokémon!|3=Black Kyurem & White Kyurem|4=Witness Genesect!|5=Meowth and Search! That Trio!!|6=Gather! New Leaguers|7=Let's Go Everyone! Let's Catch It!|8=Have You Seen Them?! The New Powers!!|00=Chespin! Fennekin! Froakie!|1=Experience Mega Evolution!|P=Promotional}}
Produces: "Pokémon Tretta League Opening!".
Instead of "01", it's using 0
for the "0" part, forcing it to be interpreted as text, and you can avoid typing that out with a template. If you move my userspace template above to Template:0 (and then remove the comment tags around the category, if you do), it should be very simple to remember/type. I don't know if there's a better way, but this works well enough. Tiddlywinks (talk) 14:03, 4 April 2014 (UTC)
This is a kids site isn't it?
Is there an admin that watches over the userpages? This page has a ton of swearing in it. --リックEO (オープン for discussion) 07:43, 20 August 2014 (UTC)
- There are a number of pages in the userspace with this kind of language, but it's not in the mainspace or particularly abusive. I have tagged it with a discretion warning though. Thanks. ~~nuva-kal 12:38, 25 August 2014 (UTC)
- So maybe in the future, I can just put PA on an article that needs it? --リックEO (オープン for discussion) 18:31, 25 August 2014 (UTC)
- I just wanna go ahead and address this real quick: We don't allow profanity on the main space, except under certain circumstances. Talk pages and user spaces we're a little more lenient. As long as it's not used in excess and/or used to attack someone, because then it's a Code of Conduct violation. ★Jo the Marten★ ಠ_ಠ 18:37, 25 August 2014 (UTC)

Uncreated Snivy battrio puck
I was snooping around the internet trying to find information on the silver tinsel rayquaza coin handed out at the May-June 2012 spring battle carnival, and I ended up finding a snivy battrio puck that doesn't seem to have a page on it. thought you should take a look. MaverickNate 23:22, 26 August 2014 (UTC)
- Thanks Nate. Battrio is an area I'm going to have to revisit at some point. We're missing a lot of late promo stuff simply because those maintaining the official site didn't bother to detail anything leading up to Battrio's discontinuation. The same thing happened with Tretta recently as well until they decided to pull their finger out and upload most of the stuff that was missing. ~~nuva-kal 18:10, 27 August 2014 (UTC)
Phantom Gate
As always, fantastic job. I'm always impressed at the speed you can create card articles. Now, onto my real reason for posting. Kogoro has asked that when the newest English set comes out, we don't move any images until an english scan is uploaded over the japanese. Whenever an image is simple uploaded over, someone (only Kogoro has the power to do this) has to go in and manually update every single use of every image. (It ends up being about 500 per week). However, the wiki will automatically do this itself if the image is moved to a new title directly after a new upload. So, we'd be able to save her about an hour of work by just waiting a bit on this part.
Additionally, I've been thinking we should add booster boxes for each set to the merchandise pages. It gives us a natural place to mention box toppers and the different promotional cards associated with booster box purchases. We could also probably mention ratios here as well. It was just a thought. tell me what you think! MaverickNate 03:56, 14 September 2014 (UTC)
- I don't see why not, but I do wonder how varied each entry could be. I wouldn't have any idea on ratios, as I seldom buy booster boxes anymore due to how expensive they are over here! I've been doing a bit of research on the arcade front, and was wondering while going through if it would be better to incorporate Project Battrio into Project Sidegames, or a Project Arcade or something?. At least then, we could tag everything Tretta-related under these projects as well. Since Umeko is not particularly active right now, I'm not sure if she'd be okay with it... ~~nuva-kal 14:02, 17 September 2014 (UTC)
Pokémon-e Starter Deck
I was hoping to ask for a favor. I was wondering if you could improve Pokémon-e Starter Deck as excellently as you improved the Venusaur/Charizard/Blastoise Random Constructed Starter Decks page? Looking at the e-Card page really just sort of intimidates me with how out-of-date it is, and I was hoping you'd be able to find some spare time to fix it up? MaverickNate 07:02, 8 October 2014 (UTC)
XY5
I didn't entirely want any Pokémon pages created for this expansion until after we debuted the new series of templates that we are going to have to use and convert everything to once they are moved within the next day. I had thought I mentioned that somewhere, but I can't seem to find that place now, so I was just hoping you would be able to hold off for like, one more day? Kogoro managed to finish the remaining rules last night after I prodded her, so we're pretty much in the final stages. MaverickNate 18:15, 13 December 2014 (UTC)
- Okay, no problem :) ~~nuva-kal 18:21, 13 December 2014 (UTC)
- Alrighty, we've moved all the templates into the Template space and I have since gone from tangela through Rhyperior in Gaia converting/creating/repairing anything that needed to happen. However, it is now 5AM, so I'm just going to write out a note and finally go to bed. There are a few things I wanted to mention.
- Every example of the new templates can be found here. For XY5, all we're going to need is Attack, Ability, Ancient Trait, EX, Primal, and Mega. For attack, abilities, and ancient traits, all of those templates are copyable code-for-code from the bulbanews story.
- I've move Mega Aggron-EX off of its hyphen name, but haven't actually done any of the relinking work for any of it yet, so just keep in mind that if you make it to that one or Mega Gardevoir, that all the hyphens should be removed from the M-Pokémon part. (This is long overdue. I think they officially removed the hyphen when M Heracross-EX happened, and I've been evilly letting it just sit and get worse.)
- It appears that you overcorrected for your initial leaving out of transdex. I think your search in a word document to replace all "dex=" to "transdex=" changed the national Pokédex "ndex=" to "ntransdex=" and none of the national dex numbers appeared for Vulpix through Manectric. Just wanted to mention so that you know for anything past Rhyperior.
- It has been requested that we change the way we code templates on all the TCG related pages. If you look at Tangela, you'll find all the vertical pipes at the front of every line now, without any extraneous spaces throughout the text. (some still have all the content on a single line, like the expansion info.) It's like that on the infobox, the attack templates, the dex template, and the artwork gallery when appropriate, and is going to be what the wiki is heading towards in every section. It's so that editors don't have a familiarity shock between sections in the hope that it'll be less intimidating for people the more technical stuff, like the TCG. It also eliminates bytes on pages, which helps when a lot of pages become larger and larger.*
- These templates are designed to be future-proof, ultimately making it less of a horrendous struggle everytime we need to add something somewhere. They also fix a few other issues going on, like the off center energy symbols here, the unreadable text here, or the obnoxiously large images here. The infoboxes and trainer cards are going to happen later down the road, but (hopefully) not all at once. It's slightly overwhelming a bit already, so we're going to be taking this 1 step at a time.
- That being said, the only pages that 100% need to use these templates right now are the 21 Ancient Trait cards. Everything else, we're able to simply update at our leisure, as both the new templates and the old templates are visually fine.
- If you have any questions, feel free to ask. There's a lot that's going to have to happen in the near future, and I'm hoping we'll be able to get it out of the way rather swiftly in order to get back to adding and repairing actual content. MaverickNate 10:38, 14 December 2014 (UTC)

Tretta Class Hyphenation
(Copied from project discussion because my years of lurking [seriously I started lurking when TTE was EiC] has taught me that no one reads the project discussions) I've been hyphenating Tretta classes if I see them used as an adjective, similar to the MoS guideline on type. For example I edit to XXXX is a Normal-class Tretta. Is there any policy on this, or should they be hyphenated the same way as type? RotaRaichu (talk) 04:55, 10 June 2015 (UTC)
- There's no manual of style for Project Arcade per se. It's not something that crossed my mind to be honest (even though now I see it's technically correct). Someone else may want to weigh in here, given that this would require edits on pretty much every Tretta article and a change to some category names again. ~~nuva-kal 20:12, 10 June 2015 (UTC)
- I'd be willing to help with the Tretta articles since I have no life, unless we can hijack BulbaBot to do so. Sorry about the hassle, my English major mind is a bit pedantic. RotaRaichu (talk) 22:48, 10 June 2015 (UTC)
- Then by all means, go for it. I'll change the category names once we're almost there. If you wouldn't mind, could you also keep a look out for any Tretta articles that still might not have the Project Arcade notice on them, and add it in? I think I got them all, but I may have missed one along the way. ~~nuva-kal 21:21, 12 June 2015 (UTC)

Korean TCG
Hey, I've got plenty cards from foreign langages such as French, Korean, Japanese and even German! I was wondering, is this notable on the English wiki? If so, can I scan my cards/packs/boxes ? MannedTooth (Talk) 17:58, 14 February 2016 (UTC)
- Typically, the only foreign card images we would have on here are Japanese, since they are released first and have many exclusive cards. These are then updated with English images when they become available. The only factor that would merit another image would be if there was a difference in illustration between localizations, such as Vivillon. We are beginning to build up merchandise articles for other languages (see Template:TCGMerchNav), so anything you could contribute towards these would be great. Official images (such as those from shopping or gaming websites) would be more suitable over photographs/scans where possible. ~~nuva-kal 18:13, 14 February 2016 (UTC)

- Scans are preferable over the images from the official site. You can upload these once you have the sufficient priviledges, or you can email them to myself or Nate, to whom you have been talking with as well. It saves having to do things twice. Speaking of which, I noticed the card articles for Awakening Psychic King had only been half completed. I get that you're eager to contribute, but try to make each article as complete as possible with the information at hand. Remember, if you're stuck, there's plenty of card articles to get the correct format and layout from. There's this bunch to help too. ~~nuva-kal 21:48, 17 February 2016 (UTC)

TCG Origins Section Question
Are we now starting to keep track of when a card's move was released previously on a different card? Thanks SirFinkleBottom 22:35, 18 March 2016 (UTC)
- Yes, though I'm not sure if we're leaving a certain timeframe between occurrences of the attack, or if we would state it on the next card (and every card thereafter) that features the attack. Advent (Battrio)
Hi! I made a little update to the Advent page/template, but I'm not entirely sure if the notes on Advents like Mew & Mewtwo meant they were available before Endless Fierce Battle (but not in that expansion or after), or if it meant they were available up to and including Endless Fierce Battle (but not after). I've currently assumed the former, but if I've made a mistake, I hope you can correct it. Thanks! Tiddlywinks (talk) 15:06, 25 July 2016 (UTC)
- Looks good. A lot of these were added by Umeko before I started to get to grips with Battrio, since she had all of the early Perfect Guide books. I don't own any prior to Great Gathering of Legendary & Mirage Pokémon! Transforming Forme Change and can't really add anything more to what is already here. The only ones I have any concrete info on are those from Battrio V, which are pretty much as complete as they can be. ~~nuva-kal 16:10, 26 July 2016 (UTC)

Help with XY-P Play Points promos
A little clarification is needed - It is said there were 2 cards awarded to players who accumulated 6 Play Points, But it is never fully clear if you receive just one of the two cards for reaching 6 points or both of them, And whether it was a one-time award or it was given for every 6 points gathered....
Can someone please consider a better wording to answer these questions?
Also, other entries on similar promo cards lack that same info, such as: 274/XY-P & 275/XY-P . Battle Festa 2014: 12 Play Point prize - AbsolEX & Mega AbsolEX, Kamex Mega Battle: 6 Play Point prize - Garchomp Spirit Link & MegaGarchompEX, 20th Anniversary Festa: 12 Play Point prize - Mew & pikachu ...00:18, 28 December 2016 (UTC)
- All of the official Japanese event pages suggest that most of these were awarded as a set of 2. The only page that doesn't explicitly suggest this is the one for the 20th Anniversary Festa, but there are no caveats to suggest they were awarded individually. The only cards definitely not awarded as a pair were 274/XY-P and 275/XY-P, which could be redeemed individually for 3 points each. As for the points redemption itself, I'm not entirely certain. I would assume once you redeemed points, they would be deducted from whatever you had accrued at the event on that day, so as long as you had enough points you could redeem as many prizes you qualified for. Romanization/translation questions
Hi! Messaging you because you're apparently the BP:ADMIN who's been so the longest, and I was told that my questions would be better asked to someone who's been here a while. I was also encouraged to ask my questions on the talk page of the MOS page in question, but that hasn't been touched in six years, so there's no reason to assume anyone would read my message.
Basically, I tried to edit Bulbapedia:Romanization to remove two factual inaccuracies about (1) in which countries the Hepburn romanization system is widely used and (2) what counts as "romanization", and was reverted (on the principal that regular edits should not edit that page, apparently without prejudice against the content of my corrections) and the page protected. The page was written entirely by a user who hasn't edited since 2011, so it obviously needs a look-over if it is going to be normative. But even if what it prescribes is how Bulbapedia works in general, it shouldn't inaccurately refer to writing Japanese names using official English spellings as "romanization", since that term implies a systematic and consistent system based on Japanese phonetics.
But aside from my (admittedly minor) concern about how the MOS is worded, I have some queries about how the MOS is actually supposed to work:
- Why are articles not allowed to give the Hepburn romanization of the original Japanese names as well as the official "trademarked" spellings? The majority of articles I have seen give the Hanyu Pinyin, Jyutping (I think) and Revised Romanization spellings of their subjects' Mandarin, Cantonese and Korean names, respectively, in addition to the spellings in those languages' native scripts; surely telling our readers how Japanese-speakers pronounce the names is at least as useful as those.
- Several articles on topics whose official English names are literal translations of their Japanese (e.g., Wela Volcano Park) give their names in the form English (Japanese literal translation of Japanese) such that the English title is given word-for-word twice in a row. This seems redundant: wouldn't it be better to just remove the "literal translation?
- When we give a translation of the Japanese names, these are written in italics, but this seems to be in error. The formatting appears to have been borrowed from English Wikipedia, where romanized Japanese text is given in italics, but if the preceding English is identical to the romanized Japanese then a translation is provided instead. This translation is meant to be in quotation marks, not italics, but on Wikipedia it's quite common to accidentally put the translation in italics because of the way the template is formatted. This differs from normal English practice, where foreign words are italicized but unless there's a good reason not to translations are given in quotation marks, and confusingly makes translations and romanizations look the same. How would one go about correcting this error, apart from (as stated above) fruitlessly posting on the inactive talk page of the MOS itself?
Sorry to ask such technical questions. I'm really not sure if you're the best one to talk to; the user who wrote the MOS page in question hasn't edited in six years, and if he ever was an admin and they aren't now. If you can't or don't want to help me, would you mind tadvising me on somewhere else I could go? On Wikipedia I'd probably take something like this to the Village Pump, but I'm still not sure if such a thing exists on Bulbapedia.
Best regards,

- Sorry for not getting back to you sooner, I've had a rather hectic start to the new year! I'm sorry to keep passing you around the houses, but changes to the Manual of Style is a matter for the Editorial Board, and is not something I have been involved in. It wouldn't hurt to raise this on the MOS talk page, as then anyone who can offer some input can at least chip in. ~~nuva-kal 16:59, 14 January 2017 (UTC)
Guardians Rising
Hi. Please advise on Fletchling, Flectchinder from Guardians Rising. The main article should be to (Lycanroc Half Deck 11/13) or to (Guardians Rising 109/110). And would the first line be "first released in the Guardians Rising expansion" or "first released in the Sun & Moon Trainer Kit: Lycanroc & Alolan Raichu"? And for Stufful and Bewear, would it be first released in "Rockruff Full Power Deck" or "Guardians Rising". Thanks. —Ruixiang95 20:59, 23 April 2017 (UTC)
- For Fletchling and Flectchinder, since the Sun & Moon Trainer Kit: Lycanroc & Alolan Raichu was released in English first, I would say this should remain the primary article. Therefore, the latter description should be used for the opening line. For Stufful and Bewear, Guardians Rising is the first English release for these cards, so the latter should be used. Thanks for your good work on these articles! ~~nuva-kal 12:43, 24 April 2017 (UTC)
- I have done the article for Ralts to Stufful in SM3N. Just waiting for the images to click "save page". Cuz I can't do images. ;) — Ruixiang95 13:53, 18 June 2017 (UTC)
- Okay, I'll upload them all now. I'm up to Rhyhorn at the moment, so if you want to do the Darkness-types, just let me know. ~~nuva-kal 13:58, 18 June 2017 (UTC)

Beta page edits
I noticed on most of the pages for main game beta content that is encouraged to add more missing info. Would adding photos from tcrf.net to those pages be acceptable or would saving and reuploading images that are relevant to missing sections be frowned upon? I would like to help add more info to those beta pages but wanted to ask first before I do anything regarding images. Frozen Fennec 17:00, 18 June 2017 (UTC)
- With it being another MediaWiki-based platform, I believe we can use the images under the Creative Commons and Fair Use policies, but I would ask permission from someone in charge of images over at tcrf.net since the images are hosted there. So long as we have that, there shouldn't be a problem. ~~nuva-kal 18:05, 21 June 2017 (UTC)
2018 Rotation
Hi. Does the Japanese "The Best of XY" counts towards being legal for the 2018 TCG rotation which starts today? Or do we only reflect the English releases? And I'm cross-referencing to this page so those cards in merchandises not in the Standard list are also no longer legal, right? — Ruixiang95 18:25, 1 September 2017 (UTC)
- Standard format is for English releases only. As most new English stuff from The Best of XY is (or fingers crossed, will be) Yellow A Alternate cards, most of these will only be legal in Expanded. As for your second question, yes, that's correct. ~~nuva-kal 13:19, 3 September 2017 (UTC)
A very old edit
About say... 8 years ago you created the page for Yellow sub-set (Battle e) and you listed one of the prizes incorrectly (Zoom Lens, when that was released in Gen 4). Any chance you'd know what the actual prize is, you'd probably have the most chance out of anyone as knowing. Thanks --Spriteit (talk) 03:44, 23 February 2018 (UTC)
- Christ, I'll have to see if I can find the old Japanese dump I got all of the data from! From what I remember, the prize pool was quite small, so it's probably similar to the other FRLG subsets. I'm at work at the moment, so I'll do a bit of digging when I get home. ~~nuva-kal 13:29, 23 February 2018 (UTC)
SM6a and SM6b
Should SM6a Dragon Storm and SM6b Champion's Road be on separate articles or the same article? They are both part of the SM6 Strength Expansion Pack(s), however, they do have different release dates. — Ruixiang95 15:08, 5 March 2018 (UTC)
- I see them as being no different to SM1+, SM2+, etc., it's just there's two of them this time. I would put them in separate articles, as with secret rares they're still going to be ~70-card sets. ~~nuva-kal 17:02, 5 March 2018 (UTC)
Quick question
Hey nuva-kal - I was wondering if you have a Discord account! I have some things regarding Ga-Olé I want to discuss that I feel would be easier to communicate via chat. ht14 02:18, 12 March 2018 (UTC)
- I don't, no. If you could put what you had in mind here, I'll get back to it when I can. I'm at work at the moment and am going to be tied up with other stuff at least until Wednesday. You're not the first person to ask, and I really should get my arse on there! ~~nuva-kal 12:43, 12 March 2018 (UTC)
- Ha, well, you should get on it =P I usually will be commenting on weekends at most (pretty busy season right now for me). The major things I wanted to discuss were the Pokémon and Trainer artwork (as per previous discussion), as well as a little project I did (I might do something similar for Tretta), which I find to be a bit of a challenge considering that there were promotional events for the same type of Trainer class (specifically the Battle Leader one). That's all I could think of off the top of my head at the moment. I feel like there may be more however. ht14 23:45, 16 March 2018 (UTC)
- I assume this is part of your wider plan to include the Trainer details from Battrio as well? At the moment, I think Battrio is the only one that warrants such an article as there were 1,000 floors in Battrio Tower. Tretta and Ga-Olé have nothing on that scale, and all info is covered on the main set articles for those that have Trainer challenges (or relevant promo articles for special events). ~~nuva-kal 11:42, 17 March 2018 (UTC)
- Apologies for the late response. Hmm, I just thought it would be nice if all the Trainer classes were on one page, that's all. Regarding Trainer artwork, I was referring to the full-body images. ht14 22:21, 31 March 2018 (UTC)
- One final thing - for the Senior Trainer, there seem to be three icons labeled "Senior Trainer", but the Japanese name for the older man for Dash set 4 is different than the younger variants. ht14 23:55, 1 April 2018 (UTC)
- I know, it's a quirky one. The katakana for the older man, シニア, directly translates as "senior", but the hiragana for the other two, せんぱい, senpai, is a term that denotes seniority and someone of experience. As these are older versions of the avatars, this is a play on the senpai-kōhai relationship prevalent in Japanese schools. I suppose I could change the latter to "Older Trainer" or "Experienced Trainer" for the sake of confusion, I just thought "Senior Trainer" sounded better. ~~nuva-kal 13:35, 2 April 2018 (UTC)

Regarding pages on the Standard/Modified Format (TCG)
Hello! I'm a relatively new user on the wiki, and have been trying to help add some information regarding the TCG when possible. I noticed the lack of pages about more recent Standard Formats (the latest one available was the one for 2014-15, which was just as the term changed from "Modified" to "Standard". Now, some pages link to the 2015-16 format as "Standard", while some others do as "Modified". The one thing I really wasn't sure how to work around would be the Template for the bar on top of said pages...
My question would be then: how should these pages be treated from now on? Should the template be modified, so it uses "Standard" everywhere, with all the corresponding redirects being made? Should a new bar Format be created for 2015-16 (or even 2014-15, since it's when the term changed) onwards? I'd appreciate help in this matter, as for completing the rest of pages. I started the 2015-16 page yesterday with the "Modified" title, but then moved it into the "Standard" one with a redirect... (as it's the one I originally intended) That's when I noticed this whole situation. --Starg09 (talk) 19:29, 4 April 2018 (UTC)
EX Ruby & Sapphire vs ADV Expansion Pack
May I know for "<Pokémon> (TCG)" pages for the cards from the EX Ruby & Sapphire expansion, would it better to link it as "jpsetlink=EX Ruby & Sapphire|jpset=Expansion Pack", "jpsetlink=EX Ruby & Sapphire|jpset=ADV Expansion Pack", or simply "jpset=ADV Expansion Pack" ? As I have seen several variants on these pages, maybe it will be better if it's the same for all of them. I thought I'll ask before editing them. Thanks. — Ruixiang95 08:18, 10 June 2018 (UTC)
- Just "jpset=ADV Expansion Pack" will suffice. Expansion Pack (without the ADV) is the Japanese equivalent of the Base Set. The jpsetlink variable should only really be used for a self-contained deck/half deck that's detailed in an article that lists more than one. Cards listed in the Quick Construction Packs are a good example of this, as each pack has its own collection number. Conversely, cards that form a master set split over several products, such as the XY Beginning Set and upcoming GX Start Decks, would just use the jpset variable. ~~nuva-kal 16:08, 10 June 2018 (UTC)
GX Start Decks
I'm currently doing the GX Start Decks article. May I know if the 9 different Start Decks (they include the number of cards in each decks) to be on separate articles or all on the main article? There are 9 different Start Decks and they look quite messy if all 9 decks are on the main page. Suggestions? Thanks. — Ruixiang95 08:01, 25 June 2018 (UTC)
- Okay, I figured out how to list them. I would like you to just take a look to see if it's fine. — Ruixiang95 10:29, 25 June 2018 (UTC)
- Sorry for the late reply—influx of work and the World Cup don't mix! The article looks good to me, though I'm curious as to why it has been moved to GX Starter Decks. The Japanese name for each product is GXスタートデッキ rather than GXスターターデッキ. ~~nuva-kal 10:47, 30 June 2018 (UTC)
- Cards from these decks are listed as jpexpansion or jpdeckkit on the card pages? — Ruixiang95 22:20, 29 July 2018 (UTC)
- I'm still trying to figure out how best to display the information as we have multiple products on one page with one master setlist. It's technically not an expansion, nor a deck kit, as they're individual products. I'm not sure whether to create multiple jpdeck entries for cards that are in every deck (like Double Colorless Energy), even though there's no difference between them (similar to Trainer crads from the Entry Pack released years ago). Similar things we've listed prior are a bit of a mixture so I may need to go back and fix a few, like the Battle Starter Decks and more recent Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon Deck Build Boxes. Any ideas? ~~nuva-kal 21:09, 31 July 2018 (UTC)

McDonald's Collection 2018
For the [Pokémon] (TCG) pages, do we want to include both the French and English version? (They will be using the ensetlink though; for French, I'll put (FR), and (EN) for English ones.) — Ruixiang95 06:34, 18 October 2018 (UTC)
- Heh, the organized chaos that is the TCG! I've looked back on the other McDonald's set that was exclusively released in French (wish I'd done so before editing the articles) and we haven't actually listed it in the relevant article infoboxes. I believe Nate was thinking of a way to present it, but never got around to it. I don't really want to create French sections for the infobox, as that's going to open the floodgates for other language numbering differences and has the potential for everything to become far too unwieldy. So, going back to your question, just list the English ones for now. I may end up removing the French expansion and numbering from each of the relevant articles, but at least acknowledge their existence in the release information section. ~~nuva-kal 14:20, 19 October 2018 (UTC)
Help and Request
May I know how to call the alternate Full Art cards like 097/095 099/095 from Team Up? How to differentiate between the usual Full Art and the new Full Art art style? Also requesting for 031844 P MTABUNNEEX.jpg to be deleted, and DelinquentBREAKpoint98a.jpg to be moved to DelinquentBREAKpoint98b.jpg over at the Archives. Thanks~ — Ruixiang95 15:40, 19 December 2018 (UTC)
- I've just been calling them Special Full Arts as the various interviews with game designers and artists have referred to them as "special illustrations". I've sorted out the image requests for you as well. Ta. ~~nuva-kal 20:40, 19 December 2018 (UTC)
- For the PokemoncardInfobox template, is it possible for Tag Team GX to have the cardname section to include links to both Pokémon TCG species pages? Currently, it only links to the TCG species page of the second Pokémon. — Ruixiang95 17:07, 19 January 2019 (UTC)
- It links to both but only 1 at a time as its driven by a time-based switch, like the reprints in the infobox and the colours shown for Rainbow Energy. ~~nuva-kal 17:22, 19 January 2019 (UTC)

Detective Pikachu Promos
The stores that will be participating in the Detective Pikachu Promo giveaway have been revealed, but how do I list them all on the SM Black Star Promos Page and the pages of the cards themselves? Listing 17 countries with their respective stores would clutter up the page too much I think, but leaving it as "In-store Detective Pikachu event" seems a bit too vague IMO. -- Bulbapedian • 2187 15:59, 14 March 2019 (UTC)
- I'd just leave it as it is on the promo page. You could list each individual country on the relevant articles by bullet points or create a table (the latter would probably look a bit better). I don't think it would look any more cluttered than articles where there are details of many reprints, such as long-standing Trainer cards. The only problem is the dates of the promotions. Unless the specific retailers are helpful and detail these on their websites clearly, it may involve a lot of trawling for the info. I know in the past when I've looked for GAME promo distributions in the UK, either the website mentions it off-hand buried in some product pages or I've had to ring my local store only to get a "uuhh I dunno when we're gettin' them in, mate"! ~~nuva-kal 16:51, 14 March 2019 (UTC)
Japanese SM Era subset numbering
Are we going to consider The Best of XY as part of the Japanese SM Era subset numbering; being the third Japanese subset released during the Sun & Moon Era of the Pokémon TCG? — Ruixiang95 15:58, 8 April 2019 (UTC)
- GX Ultra Shiny is comparable to this and is numbered SM8b, so yes. I've just realised looking at the GX Ultra Shiny page that it is out by 1, so I must have missed this one when counting them. The order by my reckoning should be:
- 1st - Strength Expansion Pack Sun & Moon
- 2nd - Facing a New Trial
- 3rd - The Best of XY
- 4th - Shining Legends
- 5th - GX Battle Boost
- 6th - Ultra Force
- 7th - Dragon Storm
- 8th - Champion Road
- 9th - Thunderclap Spark
- 10th - Fairy Rise
- 11th - Dark Order
- 12th - GX Ultra Shiny
- 13th - Night Unison
- 14th - Full Metal Wall
- 15th - GG End
- 16th - Sky Legend
I was planning to spruce up the pages and update these anyway but I've been a bit preoccupied researching XY and BW Era merchandise. ~~nuva-kal 16:30, 9 April 2019 (UTC)

The many different wrong ways of the edits made by MQ Dread needs fixing. Also Crunching Ice Axe, Green's Search, Giovanni's Banishment, Power Plant etc, the Japanese translated names need deletion. Thanks. — Ruixiang95 14:16, 1 May 2019 (UTC)
Hidden Fates
Shall Hidden Fates be created as a new page or moved from GX Ultra Shiny? On a side note, for Remix Bout (which should be fully revealed tomorrow) I would like to start from Psychic types first. Been starting with Grass types. Wanted a change this time. :D — Ruixiang95 16:44, 27 June 2019 (UTC)
- A large quantity of Hidden Fates comprises cards originating from GX Ultra Shiny, so I don't see why we wouldn't put the English info alongside. This set is probably more comparable to Legendary Treasures, so we'd have one list for the main set and another below it for the SV, or "Shiny Version" subset. Unless you've already started doing them, I'll take care of the rest of Remix Bout and the remaining promos if you like. ~~nuva-kal 08:11, 29 June 2019 (UTC)

MQ Dread
I believed MQ Dread has always got his information from PokeBeach. The redirects that he just created, the pages that he moved, are they alright? He also tends to do multiple edits in a short period of time (not using the preview button). He occasionally edit wrongly or create the wrong redirects and names. TCG Cards Legality
It's about time to start the TCG cards legality update. I only managed to complete the Kanto Pokémon cards since last year. I just wonder is there any way to allow the cards to update legality on its own without us having update yearly. Or is there any plans to stop doing the legality all together. Just asking, I will update whatever I can. — Ruixiang95 13:17, 13 July 2019 (UTC)
- I think it's jst one of those things we're going to have to keep on top of whenever we have time (or remember to do). I don't think there's any effective way of trying to automate it due to the unknown nature of what sets are going to rotate. It might be something BulbaBot can do, but I'm not sure if you can narrow down on the parameters enough to change what's needed. ~~nuva-kal 15:47, 13 July 2019 (UTC)
Hidden Fates
I'm currently doing the Trainer and Shiny cards. Could you do the moving of the images from all Trainer cards and the Shiny Vault cards first, to prevent second editing to the images or if it's alright for me to change the image link to the new link first? On a side note, do you use the Discord for Bulbapedia? Perhaps we can communicate on what section we're both doing for new Japanese releases and English move-over in the future. — Ruixiang95 17:46, 24 August 2019 (UTC)
- Ah, it seems you're doing the Trainer cards too. You go ahead with the rest. I have only done up to Brock's Training, which you have already press Saved. I will start doing the Shiny Vault cards, I guess? — Ruixiang95 17:53, 24 August 2019 (UTC)

- Sorry, I'd already done these when the message notification popped up. I'm not sure how to name the Shiny Vault cards due to the way TCPi have handled this set in general. I guess we'll go ahead and just name them as per the articles, i.e. "ScytherHiddenFatesSV1", instead of "ScytherCelestialStormSV1" as we would for normal instances of yellow A alternates, otherwise it will get incredibly confusing. If you want to go ahead and name them this way, I'll get them moved eventually. - This is the moment I wished we already used Discord. Shiny Vault cards have Common, Uncommon, Rare rarities too, so do we use the rarity as per the Hidden Fates article: ShinyRare for non-GX, and Rare Ultra for GX? Also, according to pokemon.com they refer to these as Yellow A Alternate cards, do we state Hidden Fates, Shiny Vault or Yellow A Alternate for each card aticles? — Ruixiang95 03:51, 25 August 2019 (UTC)
- Just go with Hidden Fates I think for the Shiny Vault stuff as these are a special case. I'll list them on the Yellow A Alternate cards article and mention it on the Hidden Fates article as well. ~~nuva-kal 08:26, 25 August 2019 (UTC)
- Edit: Sorry, with regards to rarities, use the ones listed on the Hidden Fates article as well. The official checklist lists normal shiny Pokémon as a black star and "SH", while Pokémon-GX are a white star and "SH", but just use what we've got for now. The rarities in both languages is something I want to refine at some point (as well as the Holofoil article as it's basically a list of expansions rather than actual Holofoil patterns). ~~nuva-kal 08:37, 25 August 2019 (UTC)

- I realised Chinese is general. Mandarin refers to Taiwanese Chinese, so I'll go ahead with Chinese and CTCG. Also, see if these are fine. User:Ruixiang95/All Stars Collection (CTCG) and User:Ruixiang95/SM-P Promos (CTCG) — Ruixiang95 15:46, 19 September 2019 (UTC)
- Looks okay. I think with the Thai, Indonesian, and Chinese additons to the TCG, we'll need to make new entries in the TCG Releases template as per the early Korean sets. I suspect they'll keep doing saturated releases until they catch up with Japan midway through SwSh and eventually follow a similar release pattern to the Korean TCG. ~~nuva-kal 12:15, 20 September 2019 (UTC)

- Whoops, never mind the first part of the message above. XD — Ruixiang95 07:10, 9 October 2019 (UTC)
- Good stuff. I didn't realise it was such a hodgepodge of sets, it's even got some of the GX Ultra Shiny stuff thrown in! I imagine they'll spread these over a couple of sets. I've deleted the original userspace articles. Does "Aim to Be a Pokémon Master -20th Anniversary- (single)" need mainspacing or just deleting altogehter? ~~nuva-kal 19:22, 9 October 2019 (UTC)
- "Aim to Be a Pokémon Master -20th Anniversary- (single)" just need deleting. It is fulfilled by Aim to Be a Pokémon Master -20th Anniversary- (CD). --— Ruixiang95 09:39, 14 October 2019 (UTC)

Discord
Hi there, hope this message finds you well! I was just reaching out because I was wondering if you had a Discord account or some way to contact you offsite. I just wanted to have a quick conversation whenever you are back online again, if possible. Looking forward to hearing from you and enjoy the rest of your week! --Pokemaster97 17:40, 17 February 2020 (UTC)
- Not at the moment. What did you want to talk about? ~~nuva-kal 10:22, 19 February 2020 (UTC)
- It's staff related, so I'd prefer to talk offsite. Do you have any plans on making a Discord, perhaps? Essentially, we'd kind of like you have access to staff discussions on Discord and the like if possible . --Pokemaster97 20:49, 19 February 2020 (UTC)
Failed move
Could you please remove Technical Machine (Remove) and Technical Machine (TCG)? I tried to move List of all Technical Machine Cards to the former but still could not and screwed further; should have seen this coming. Pipefan (talk) 21:03, 21 March 2020 (UTC)
Page for mainspace
Hi, I'm making this page but wanted an opinion whether it's good enough for mainspace. It would be renamed to "Battle Traits" and the side game and TCG list would be converted as a table like the main series example. Pipefan (talk) 12:35, 11 July 2020 (UTC)
Redirect template
I'm confused about using links like Pokémon Shield over Shield in TCG articles. Pipefan (talk) 16:22, 3 October 2020 (UTC)
Preview button
I had two questions about the force preview and the preview button itself. First, I had recently placed under forced preview for failure to comply with the preview policy. How does the force preview worked and how long it will stay. Second, if I want to use the preview button, how many should I make because I do not want to make multiple-edits at the same time. TwistedMeow (talk) 17:20, 29 December 2020 (UTC)
- The force preview does what it says on the tin - it will automatically show you a preview of the page before you're allowed to save it. I imagine this will remain in place until you demonstrate you're capable of adding what you want in one or a small number of edits. Take the three edits to this page for example. If you used the preview to read through what you were about to add, you may have spotted your mistakes and could have changed them before comitting to save. Of course you may still miss things from time to time, you're only human, but previewing your edits before comitting them can help reduce unecessary load on the server. I'm not sure if I understand your second question - there is no limit to how many times you can preview a page. If you want to add multiple things to an article, you could do one bit and preview it, then the next and preview it, and so on until you're happy; then save. If you want to add a large amount of information or start an article from scratch, you could create it in something like Word first before copying the content to Bulbapedia. ~~nuva-kal 17:50, 29 December 2020 (UTC)
- Okay because I edited many times to the Pokémon Shirts article because the recent designs for the Gen III Pokemon are being unveiled now. I want to keep the page updated as I can. TwistedMeow (talk) 17:56, 29 December 2020 (UTC)
- As I suggested above, you can add these section by section as you have been, but instead of saving after you've completed one, preview it instead. You can keep adding sections until you're satisfied everything is there, then save. There should never be any sort of rush to add things. This is a Wiki, not a news site. If these unvelings are spread throughout the day, you may be best collating the info before uploading it. ~~nuva-kal 18:09, 29 December 2020 (UTC)

TCG Cards - GB Set
Just an FYI as I saw your recent deletions. The GB cards are referenced in TCG deck lists from the games by the names whose pages you deleted. The reason for this is for clarity purposes as, in the game, they are known by the "GB" reference, not by the "Wizards" reference (or the Best of Game reference in regards to Dark Ivysaur and Dark Venusaur). I am wondering now whether those references WERE in articles at one point and simply deleted, but I can confirm a very early deck, Charmander & Friends Deck (TCG), uses the Meowth GB card reference and should be maintained as a redirect to the Wizards 10 card. I am noticing now that it was not on the page. CycloneGU (talk) 21:25, 26 February 2021 (UTC)
- I'm in the process of cleaning up a lot of old links for the older sets and whatnot. There are unsderstandably a lot of differences due to how many different people have created the deck lists, especially for cards that were sourced outside the first four sets, so I thought this was a redundant redirect. For reference, I'm moving anything previously titled "GB 1" to "Pokémon Card GB" and anything previously titled "GB 2" to "Pokémon Card GB2". ~~nuva-kal 21:42, 26 February 2021 (UTC)
Korean Reverse Holos
Hello! i'm coming to you because you seem to have a lot of TCG knowledge, so i hope you can help me out. In most Bulbapedia articles for SWSH card sets, they say "Cards in the Korean, English, German, French, Italian, Spanish, and Portuguese sets were also available as Reverse Holos" at the bottom. However, i don't believe the Korean sets have reverses (except for Shiny Star V with the halo holofoils). I've been searching for reverses (리버스) and mirrors (미러) and watching Korean pack openings but cannot find any reverse holos for SWSH sets. Could that just be something that has been copy-pasted from previous eras? thanks! Mukario (talk) 21:18, 12 August 2021 (UTC)
- Yes, I believe the Korean (and by extension the other Asian expansion languages) follow the same distribution model as the Japanese cards and only have parallel foil sets for the High Class Packs. I wasn't 100% but if you've watched videos and not seen any, I'd say that's rather conclusive, as you'd see at least 1 per pack. ~~nuva-kal 12:55, 13 August 2021 (UTC)
Deklan146363
Are you free to deal with a problem, Deklan146363 is making an edit to the Horsea page but others are removing it but he keeps adding it. https://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Special:Watchlist?limit=250&days=7&enhanced=1&urlversion=2--BigDocFan (talk) 21:39, 15 September 2021 (UTC)
Miraidon image
Hi, could you edit template "Upcoming" so it uses Miraidon's image with the Pokedex number?--Rocket Grunt 22:43, 13 January 2023 (UTC)
