Welcome

Welcome to Bulbapedia, Tyler53841!

As a new user, you may wish to learn a few things that will be useful in your editing:

  • For a basic overview of wiki code, see this page.
  • The manual of style is very important. Make sure to read it. It outlines all official policies of Bulbapedia.
  • Keep an eye on the Messages from the Editor on the main page, to stay informed on current events on Bulbapedia.
  • The word Pokémon is spelled with a capital P and an accented é. The P, of course, is accessed easily by holding Shift and pressing the P key, while the é can be accessed using Alt + 130 or Alt + 0233 on a Windows computer, and Option + e, then e again on a Mac. Otherwise, you can click it in the character palette below the editbox.
  • The word Poké Ball is spelled as two words. The "Poké" part is identical to the four beginning letters in "Pokémon"; "Ball" is spelled with a captial B (which is, again, accessed by holding Shift and pressing the B key). The spelling "Pokéball" arises frequently, but is incorrect.
  • The word "you" and all forms of it should not be used on encyclopedic pages unless it is a quote from Pokémon or other media. Bulbapedia is an encyclopedia, not a walkthrough.
  • On talk pages, please sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).
  • The use of link templates is official policy. For an explanation on their use, see the page on shortlinks.
  • If you happen to spot a vandal in the recent changes that has not been dealt with, please see this page for how to deal with it.
  • A list of pages that are linked to, but have not been created, can be found at this page. A list of short articles that may require more information can be found here, while a list of articles that need improvement can be found here.
  • For a future capture, release, trade, or evolution of a Pokémon belonging to a main character of the anime, please do not create or move the page to reflect your suspicions, even if they are shared by many others. Policy here is to wait until the episode in which the event happens takes place is aired, unless there is substantial evidence for the suspicion (such as Brock's Happiny being held in his arms).
  • Image uploading is done on Bulbagarden Archives, a separate wiki accessible through the toolbox in the sidebar. You will have to register separately for it, as well. This is done so that both Bulbapedia and Bulbanews have access to the images uploaded.
  • If you want to make a page about a character you made up, please create it at User:Tyler53841/(name), not merely (name). Bulbapedia's main namespace is reserved for actual, official Pokémon, items, characters, and locations. Also, please try to make sure that subpages are not categorized by templates used within.
  • Having said this, please make sure that you do contribute adequately to the main namespace. Bulbapedia is not MySpace or Facebook.
  • A list of the admins that you can contact in case of a problem, can be found here.

Thank you, and have a good time editing here!--Shiningpikablu252 23:12, 8 May 2008 (UTC)

Errors

The Errors section is for animation errors. Not gameplay to anime things that don't make sense. -Sketchies 16:26, 12 June 2008 (UTC)

Differences between the games and anime

You have edited that article WAY too much. Can't you go do something else? Thanks. --AlphaTotodile 21:14, 16 May 2009 (UTC)

I disagree. As long as the edits are constructive, it doesn't matter. Although they should be kept to as a few edits as possible. The Dark Fiddler - You enter a poorly lit room... 21:16, 16 May 2009 (UTC)
Forget I said anything, listen to the Dark Fiddler. --AlphaTotodile 21:22, 16 May 2009 (UTC)

It Was an Honorable Mention, Not Speculation

It wasn't speculation, don't you get it? Here's a very short and brief summary of the FACT I said... "In Gen IV main series gameplay, all Pokémon are now avalable because of what is expected out of these remakes." That's what I was saying... Nothing like "Oh, I think "THIS", "THAT" and the "OTHER THING" will happen." Seems like TTE's sharp hawk eyes aren't so sharp right now... So, I'll restore it... I really don't want to get too much into this, so I'll leave it that you got the wrong idea...--X, PEACE TOTHE DRAGONS ANDTHE BEASTS 03:47, 18 May 2009 (UTC)

I'll just leave it as a "reminder" for now... until it seems that it is agreed to be an "honorable mention"... At least that's all I can do (and all I want to do) for now. I don't like causing conflict over stuff like this, so yeah...--X, PEACE TOTHE DRAGONS ANDTHE BEASTS 03:05, 4 June 2009 (UTC)

Pokéthlon

Nice work on the Pokéthlon stats! [[Derian]] 18:01, 1 October 2009 (UTC)

I say the same! Keep up the good work! ;) -- RikkiKitsune 22:35, 1 October 2009 (UTC)
Yup. BTW, I'll work from the other side, with the harder stuff if you want me to. ht14 03:11, 2 October 2009 (UTC)

Pokethlon

See Deoxys and Shaymin. I finished them. ht14 02:50, 3 October 2009 (UTC)

So you'll do Burmy's? Reply here. It's easier... ht14 02:56, 3 October 2009 (UTC)
Yeah, didn't know about it but go ahead. -Tyler53841 02:59, 3 October 2009 (UTC)

Berry

I'm not sure if you got this info from Serebii, but what it may mean is that there are 3 berries per 1 shard. I misinterpreted it as 3 of a specific berry for one shard. What is your output on this? ht14 18:38, 3 November 2009 (UTC)

The info states that the juggler gives out three berries for one shard that is why I started to follow your example after the Oran berry page and updated the other pages with these new details I did not know before. Also check out the talk page on the Berry page as I found something also important about the trades. -Tyler53841 18:41, 3 November 2009 (UTC)

As I'm trying to mention, I'm not sure if I'm right. I assumed (*bad*) that it was 3 of each, not 3 (one of each of the cat.) ht14 18:43, 3 November 2009 (UTC)
As for the trading info, it's a minor thing. Trivial info... ht14 18:43, 3 November 2009 (UTC)

Table for Rival

I've fixed it-

--ForceFire 02:35, 6 December 2009 (UTC)

As for the other Trainers, I think we should leave as it is, as I'm seeing the template we have will be wide :P.--ForceFire 02:43, 6 December 2009 (UTC)
Good choice and also the secret behind them is aside from Gym trainers they would match the region color. But also F.Y.I. because my walkthrough details include direct gameplay I was able to also make corrections on the Route pages as well. For rivals I think the new design will help as it will prevent the posting of 3 to 6 different templates depending on the version. -Tyler53841 02:49, 6 December 2009 (UTC)

Hey, you might

not know this, but you need to improve on your grammar a twidge. Just saying,--Smartkidhen 21:09, 14 December 2009 (UTC)

I usually try the best I can and often spend time proof-reading my work as often as I can so I'll do what I can, but also note that stuff like this often requires two people to handle since after checking your changes I had to correct a misspelled word from your edit. But anyway any help will be appreciated. -Tyler53841 23:56, 14 December 2009 (UTC)

My bad

Sorry about the thing on KC's talk page. I'd put up a new sandbox this afternoon with coding for an unfinished table, and yours must've gotten in the way and been chewed up. --Oz (The Wizard at Work!) 18:35, 12 January 2010 (UTC)

From what I learned, yes. -Tyler53841 18:40, 12 January 2010 (UTC)

Hey...

Just a heads-up, but I'm finally done reformatting the FR/LG walkthrough. I'm headed off to class in about 2 minutes, but I plan to whip through Crystal as quick as I can tonight and tomorrow, and hopefully have a decent bit done by Sunday. Luckily there's something up for it already, so it won't be a from-scratch project. — KC 18:20, 12 March 2010 (UTC)

Right, and I plan to start my Ruby/Sapphire and Dimond/Pearl work today, but I noticed you still need to finish the Cerulean Cave. After playing through it myself, the only real change from Generation I is the fact that Rock Smash needs to be used. Also F.Y.I., since the English names for HG/SS have been accepted, I already took care of the work on the respective walkthrough pages. -Tyler53841 18:28, 12 March 2010 (UTC)

Viz titles

Just so you know, we put both the Chuang Yi and Viz titles in the Chapter pages. So it's best that you don't replace it entirely Ataro 01:21, 1 February 2011 (UTC)

Deal with fixes and I'll be happy to give you the rest of titles. Sorry for the problems since I am new at this. -Tyler53841 01:23, 1 February 2011 (UTC)

Images

Linking to images before they are moved makes them unable to update due to the wiki and the Archives being on two different servers. This makes it so that the images don't appear for days, even weeks. You did this with both Emolga cards AND the Lillipup a few days ago . In the future, I ask that in the future for card pages, you don't change anything, and leave it to someone who can actually move the images. It makes for so many fewer problems down the road. Hey, uh...

If we're on the subject of moving titles...I was wondering if you can help me on a little thing here. The titles of the Ruby and Sapphire chapter are incorrect and they need to be fixed. For example this becomes the way it is now Ataro 00:06, 27 February 2011 (UTC)

Hey, question here.

The Preview Button

Instead of editing a page several times in a row, try using the preview button to make sure your edit looks the way you want it to. It's right next to the Save Changes button... Please try it out, so as not to clog up the Recent Changes. Thanks! ----Pokemaster97 19:09, 28 July 2012 (UTC)

I know that and when it comes to delicate work I always use the preview button when it comes to link templates. Besides I have a standard three edit limit for working within a single timeframe and afterwards I forbid myself to working on that page again for a few hours. -Tyler53841 (talk) 03:31, 29 July 2012 (UTC)

It's a better idea to try to aim for one edit per page. Sure mistakes will happen sometimes, but combining edits where ever possible is always a good idea. --Pokemaster97 18:17, 29 July 2012 (UTC)
So true and at least I make sure to go as few as possible, in fact a month ago on the Fullmetal Alchemist wiki someone made so many edits on their user page it completely overlapped the recent changes page to where both myself and another regular user had to send this person a message about the preview button. -Tyler53841 (talk) 18:22, 29 July 2012 (UTC)
Yea, we try to keep things like that from happening here lolz. Keep up the good work with the walkthrough section though :)! --Pokemaster97 18:27, 29 July 2012 (UTC)

Your recent edits.

It's fine. Just make sure you're doing the same format, i.e. with the tt template stating that it's Chuang Yi's name. ht14 04:19, 2 July 2014 (UTC)
I was trying to fix the tt template thing but thanks anyway. I let you handle the other chapters outside of today's release from Viz if you want that involve Ultima. -Tyler53841 (talk) 04:21, 2 July 2014 (UTC)

Deoxys

Do you know Deoxys's nickname in the VIZ media version of Pokémon Adventures? I'm not really sure if the names on the article, as it says Organism No. 1 and 2, are correct and it would take a lot of relinking and moving files if they turned out to be different. PattyMan 23:02, 2 December 2014 (UTC)

I believe it is in the FireRed & LeafGreen chapter as they played a major role there. PattyMan 23:05, 2 December 2014 (UTC)
I'll try later since I got to work on Black and White's update, send a message to Zesty Cactus and then begin my first playthrough of Kingdom Hearts 2 Final Mix now that KH 2.5 is finally out. -Tyler53841 (talk) 23:08, 2 December 2014 (UTC)

Capitalization

Around the wiki, we try to follow the capitalization in the games (and/or other media). This means that words like Trainer and Badge are capitalized words by default. It'd be great if you could try to remember that as you edit in the future.

And while I'm here, another little thing I've noticed is that you seem to have an occasional habit of leaving an extra space at the end of a line. I'm not sure how that happens, but it'd be nice if you could try to avoid that, too.

Hope you don't think I'm being too picky here. =P Thanks. Tiddlywinks (talk) 02:36, 15 December 2014 (UTC)

Could be that there might some kind of unintended mistake with the spacing even though I do my best to proofread my stuff before posting. But anyway I do not mind if you find ways to improve what I write, as long as the original noble intent is preserved. -Tyler53841 (talk) 03:09, 15 December 2014 (UTC)

Rematches

As, so that section is Gym Leaders only. Would it be fair to move the information I attempted to add, even in a more abbreviated format, up with the existing line, "the Trainer's Eye function returns, but unlike Generation III, Trainers are ready for a rematch more frequently"?

Quick note on my userspace as well; I'm going to work on that 104 one in addition to editing the mainspace articles. I'm simply looking to finish it and will then propose it, but created it now as I had been discussing it with Tiddlywinks already so thought he might want some input on it. I chose 104 because it's available early in the game and will be generally finished (except for Hall of Fame data) by the time the fifth Badge is obtained. If it ends up not used, at least I put the idea out. It can always be deleted. =) CycloneGU (talk) 18:20, 29 December 2014 (UTC)

On the first paragraph, go right ahead, but remember to focus on the more critical details so it doesn't get to overfilled so for instance, one small example will be fine as long as it is not overdetailed. Looking at the edit I can say too much detail so try to keep it smaller and only use one example with a small description to go with it. -Tyler53841 (talk) 18:30, 29 December 2014 (UTC)

Viridian Forest

So I was looking through the FRLG arc again and found the statement about a person with special powers being born in the Viridian Forest every 10 years under Yellow's bio. So it seems that that previous user who added info about Lance being ten years older may be right, but I'm still unsure if I'm ok with adding that. In other words, as of the HGSS chapter, she's around 18, which means Lance is 28 and Giovanni, if we're following that trend, would be 38. It's reasonable, but I would like another opinion before officially adding it onto the timeline. ht14 05:10, 16 January 2015 (UTC)

Hello Tyler53841, I want to ask you an important question since you have welcome messaged me , The question is : how do I get to be able to edit my own userpage and customize it like some of users here ? , knowing that I have edited some of the main articals and fixed the errors in them . Thanks by the way for your efforts in this site. - unsigned comment from Ayhan964 (talkcontribs)

Just keep carefully editing articles in a way that would not be detrimental to other's work or would be considered vandalism. Don't forget to sign your posts either by following the reminders to do so. As long as you can find ways to improve and make better edits (do not do the kind of edits that are beyond your skills) then you can do fine here. -Tyler53841 (talk) 13:50, 19 February 2015 (UTC)

Hi!

Not to interfere, but you handled the situation exactly as any user at your level (myself included) should, and I believe staff typically takes the same action. I was about to add the PReview button notice there, but saw you already did so. Typically, further action is taken if the repetitive edits continue, and I'll give benefit of the doubt on his last two. Staff usually monitor Recent Changes (I've been utilizing it lately, myself) and take action if needed. All is well! CycloneGU (talk) 02:54, 14 June 2015 (UTC)

It was after I noticed this user making 2 more edits after I sent my message. -Tyler53841 (talk) 02:59, 14 June 2015 (UTC)
Yeah, he sent them both within two minutes of your edit to his talk page. That's [posting on two staff pages, I mean] akin to breathing down his back. Give him the benefit of the doubt and see if he continues after he has had time to digest the message on the talk page. He's just trying to help, and it's better to encourage good help than it is to go out of your way to get them punished based on two minutes, IMO. =) CycloneGU (talk) 03:10, 14 June 2015 (UTC)
Then not long ago he did it a seventh time. -Tyler53841 (talk) 03:13, 14 June 2015 (UTC)

Colored orbs

Just to make sure to get this cleared up, how does the change in the Colored orbs from Generation IV not change which orb controls which Legendary? In RSE, the Blue Orb controlled Groudon and the Red Orb controlled Kyogre. In HGSS, this mechanic changed to the Red Orb controlling Groudon and the Blue Orb controlling Kyogre. The Primal Reversion plot did not change which orb each team needs; Generation IV made that change instead. --Super goku (talk) 07:40, 9 March 2016 (UTC)

It is better not to add it because a. This is a comparison between the original games and the remakes and b. HeartGold and SoulSilver are separate games where the Orbs were only added to make them appear in the Embedded Tower and the subject matter is too minor for it to be considered notable to present. Better to ignore the stuff that is too minor to be notable than risk have it removed.-Tyler53841 (talk) 00:59, 10 March 2016 (UTC)
Since I've been invited...
In RSE, it's not strictly clear that the Blue/Red Orb really controls Groudon/Kyogre (respectively) or is really and truly meant to. Plainly, the Orb Maxie/Archie chose doesn't control Groudon/Kyogre. It's kind of arguable whether they just chose the wrong Orb (the thing that might support this is that the Red/Blue Orb does affect Groudon/Kyogre when the player encounters it), or if the Orbs never really had that power per se, or what.
But you don't really need to answer that question or even entertain it, HGSS still doesn't necessarily change anything. Like I said, in RSE, the Red/Blue Orb does have an affect on Groudon/Kyogre, and (AFAIK) HGSS never says that the Red/Blue Orb "controls" Groudon/Kyogre: so no contradiction. (For that matter, ORAS doesn't actually even say (AFAIK) that the Orbs control Groudon/Kyogre; it says they awaken one's full power and quell the other's.) In fact, in RSE the Red/Blue Orb is apparently the one you "need" for that encounter, so I think it actually makes great sense that having the Red/Blue Orb in HGSS gives you Groudon/Kyogre.
In short, the only solid (notable) difference is that the Team leader chooses the opposite Orb they did in R/S(/E). Tiddlywinks (talk) 04:20, 10 March 2016 (UTC)
I was a bit confused on the invitation, but I think it worked out in the end. (Except, I was trying to initiate discussion and not complain about the revert.) Now that it has been noted, I think that part of the problem is where the concept of "controlled" came from. Or rather, what part of media did this occur.
Taking a look at Viz Media's translation of Pokémon Adventures volume 21, the word "control" in any tense is used four times in just the summary so far of the Ruby & Sapphire chapter. However, the word "awaken" in any tense is used often in the rounds themselves. (Or "Adventures" as Viz calls them.) For the Orbs allow Groudon and Kyogre to awaken and move by awakening their bodies, they are not complete until a second awakening near the Cave of Origin to awaken their minds, which is apparently connected to Mt. Pyre. (Additionally, I believe that researching the role of the Anime in this would also bring up similar issues, but I feel that it is not needed at this time.)
My main issue with this matter was the claim that the "correct colored orb to control Groudon and Kyogre" is a change to the elements of R/S/E elements starting from this game, when that appears to be false due to the change in at least the "correct colored orb" started back in Generation IV. However, this issue was resolved with the edit that simply states which orb each team takes in the end and goes with what we understand. --Super goku (talk) 07:38, 10 March 2016 (UTC)
Don't worry, I didn't really jump in in some "official" capacity. =P I never thought you were complaining or anything, it was just this. Tiddlywinks (talk) 08:26, 10 March 2016 (UTC)

Number disambiguations

Number disambiguation pages should have the EP### equivalent on them. Otherwise, if you only have one link on a page, it's not a disambiguation page. See 650 for an example. --Carmen (Talk | contribs) 00:03, 4 December 2016 (UTC)

Names for non-Dex holders

Thank you. You've been a great help with the English releases of Pokemon Adventures. However, you seem to have missed certain characters that are exclusive to this series, such as Blake and Whitley's classmates, Mayu, Yuuko, and Yuki, as well as the Draconids Jinga, Tomatoma, and Renza. If it's not too much trouble, what is their English names, if they have any? Ataro (talk) 13:24, 4 January 2017 (UTC)

Only Mayu and Yuuko got changed in the english version to names that were already taken so I moved them to {{adv, Maya and Yuko. The others remained unchanged. Also for the Draconid characters from ORAS, I did not completely remove the imcomplete notices yet since I do not have access to SA. If you wish, you can remove them at your own discretion. -Tyler53841 (talk) 15:27, 4 January 2017 (UTC)
Nice, nice. But according to the preview on Shogakukan Asia's website, Maya's name is written as both Maya and Mayu in the first chapter. One of them has to be a mistake, so could you check to see which is more consistent? Ataro (talk) 15:39, 4 January 2017 (UTC)
I tried on that site but I couldn't find a link. Likely a mistake they made try asking the user Maxim who originally confirmed Maya and Yuko's english name prior to Viz's version coming out. Also yesterday I did confirm through PAXY30 that the English name of Shauna's Neco-P is actually Neko. I'll admit this is long-term project that I glad to have finally ended. -Tyler53841 (talk) 15:48, 4 January 2017 (UTC)

Just wanted to drop by and thank you for contributing to the yet-to-be-mainspaced pages. I'm going to be starting on the Wings and Battle items soon, and it'd be great if you could drop by and recheck those pages once those are up. Lanthanum (talk) 01:22, 23 March 2018 (UTC)

Autumn Choral Competition

I noticed you added to that page, but didn't move it. Am I to assume the name is the same in the English version? Including the Unova Choral Competition? Ataro (talk) 12:16, 11 July 2018 (UTC)

Pretty much it looked like Viz changed Choral to Choir and Competition to Tournament. Took care of the page move, and carefully examined chapter to make sure certain facts were right. -Tyler53841 (talk) 14:35, 11 July 2018 (UTC)

Scizor

Why did you recommend using Scizor in so many of your walkthroughs? You know that Scizor usually requires trading to obtain, right? sumwun (talk) 01:23, 25 December 2018 (UTC)

Mirage Berry

Hey, just wondering. Did the Mirage Berry receive an English name in the translation? Ataro (talk) 18:56, 9 January 2019 (UTC)

Nope. None of the berries were named directly and were only given a general term such as special berries.. However the later chapters the Mirage Berry was seen in have not been released yet, but even so the chances are low it will be given a direct translation for the VIZ translation.-Tyler53841 (talk) 00:47, 10 January 2019 (UTC)

Email

Hi there, hope this message finds you well! I was just reaching out to let you know I attempted to send an email to the email that you have connected with this account asking whether or not you had a Discord account that I could possibly contact you on. You can either write back or you can just get back to me here if it's easier, I just wanted to have a quick conversation whenever you are back online again. Looking forward to hearing from you and enjoy the rest of your weekend if it's still the weekend where you are! --Pokemaster97 23:29, 16 February 2020 (UTC)

Number articles

Hey! When you create one of those number articles, please make sure you double-check everything before actually publishing them. I notice the articles ending with "-1", "-2", and "-3" all have "-th" attached to them (like "321th"), and I have to keep fixing them. Thank you. GrammarFreak01 (talk) 00:48, 10 June 2020 (UTC)
