Regirock was the first to attack Ash and the gang. It met them at the entrance to the Tree of Beginning and, believing they were there to do harm, attacked them with its Hyper Beam.
Regirock later chased Team Rocket throughout the caves alongside Registeel it chased them until they met up with Ash and the others, and even up to the point where Lucario broke the stone bridge between them. However, Regirock and Registeel were able to catch up to the gang easily.
After Mew revived Ash and his friends from the Tree of Beginning's immune system, Regirock and the others left them alone.

Regice first attacked Ash as he was running to be reunited with Pikachu, despite Ash trying to reason with it, Regice continued its attack, believing they were there to harm the Tree of Beginning.
It later attempted to attack Ash while he was running over a chasm to Pikachu.
After Mew revived Ash and his friends from the Tree of Beginning's immune system, Regice and the others left them alone.
