Pokémon World is the opening theme song for the English dub of the second season, Pokémon: Adventures in the Orange Islands. It was used from The Lost Lapras (from Pallet Party Panic in the VIZ Media DVD release) to The Rivalry Revival, even though a shorter version was used starting from The Pokémon Water War. The opening animation is composed of clips from the second Japanese opening The Rivals, and clips from the episode Pikachu Re-Volts. It was written by John Loeffler and John Siegler and was sung by Russell Velázquez.

A version sung by Youngstown and Nobody's Angel was the opening theme to the second Pokémon movie, The Power of One, and appeared on the movie's soundtrack, Pokémon the Movie 2000. It also was one of the few English Pokémon songs to get its own official single.

A non-lyrical version is featured in the game Pokémon Puzzle League as the theme song for Gary Oak.

Lyrics

TV version (EP081 - EP105)

So you wanna be the Master of
Pokémon!
Do you have the skills to be
Number one!?

I wanna take the ultimate step
Find the courage to be bold (Pokémon)
To risk it all and not forget
The lessons that I hold
I wanna go where no one's been
Far beyond the crowd (Pokémon) Yeah!
Learn the way to take command
Use the power that's in my hand
Oh hey!

We all live in a Pokémon world
(Po-ké-mon)
I wanna be the greatest Master of them all!
(Greatest Master)
We all live in a Pokémon world
(Po-ké-mon)
Put myself to the test
To be better than all the rest
Ungh!

So you wanna be the Master of
Pokémon!
Do you have the skills to be
Number one!?
We all live in a Pokémon world
(Po-ké-mon)
I wanna be the greatest Master of them all!
Got the power right in your hands

Trivia

  • This is the first English theme to be partially made with digital animation, the portion in question being the power display by Misty's Staryu, Ash's Snorlax, and Ash's Charizard. The first fully digitally animated theme was this song's successor, Pokémon Johto.
  • Gary is shown with a Growlithe in this opening, even though he has never been seen using one, nor has it ever been confirmed if he obtained his Arcanine as a Growlithe.
  • The movie version of this song features a duet, making it the first English dub opening to feature a duet, while the opening for the TV series was still a solo performance. An opening duet for the TV series would not happen until High Touch! in the original, and Black and White in the English dub.
  • For reasons unknown, the European Portuguese dub used their version of Pokémon Theme instead.
    • This was also the case in the Arabic dub, probably because the Pokémon Theme was very popular, there was no point in changing it.
  • Despite leaving the TV version undubbed in English, Bulgaria, Iceland, and Slovakia did dub the song's movie version as well as the movie version of Pokémon Johto.
  • Due to the Orange Islands arc being skipped in the Finnish dub, only the full version of the song, used during the opening of The Power of One, exists in Finnish.
  • A part of the extended version of the song is heard in the Pokémon: Path to the Peak episode Internationals.
    • In the Japanese dub of this episode, the beat of the song was kept and the lyrics were dubbed into Japanese. This was done instead of replacing the song with the corresponding Japanese opening theme, which would have been The Rivals.
