Route exploration requirements

As a continuation from the archived discussion, I'm going to incorporate the "Requirements to fully explore this area" as part of the route description on each article, instead of it having its own section. Taromon 12:01, 13 February 2010 (UTC)

brilliant idea. SpecialK Leiks Lucario and The Celebi Glitch 12:05, 13 February 2010 (UTC)
No, please do not. Most administers agreed against the case. If you want to write up a "Geography" or "Route description" section including HM/TM requirement, please do. But do not create a section for it.--Clarky13 14:04, 13 February 2010 (UTC)

Image of nothing?

I've noticed there's an image called File:None.png. It's just a blank white image, and in the summary it says, "Image of nothing". What's the point in it? Taromon 22:51, 13 February 2010 (UTC)

If it were perfectly square, it could be used better as a spacer... buuuuut no. TTEchidna 00:12, 14 February 2010 (UTC)
They're for the itemlist template for items that don't have any images (the Gen II berries for example).--ForceFire 00:28, 14 February 2010 (UTC)

valentine's day

since it's valentine's day tomorrow, could we make the main page luvdisc themed? or something? i think it would be cool. Empath-Silvio 23:54, 13 February 2010 (UTC)

Bulbapedia anniversary celebrations are your Valentine's present. TTEchidna 00:11, 14 February 2010 (UTC)

Main Page

This image of Erika with this Bulbasaur looks really odd. How about a better picture. I'd offer to make a new one. - unsigned comment from LucaLucario (talkcontribs)

WOW! This is different! But I do agree about the pic. Everything else, excellent! - Vhayes1992 12:33, 14 February 2010 (UTC)
Yeah, I agree. It fits but it looks a bit off. Did admins vote on this or something? --GEN1KING 14:31, 14 February 2010 (UTC)

The new theme

The new Bulbapedia theme is great, but there is a slight problem. The logo "Erika's Garden", and the links for Article, Discussion, Edit etc come up on top of the site content, making it virtually impossible to read the first few paragraphs of each article. Is this a minor glitch due to the theme being very new, or is it a problem with my computer/browser? I hope somebody can fix it soon, thanks! Taromon 12:51, 14 February 2010 (UTC)

Hm. Apparently the problem occures only in IE, it's perfectly fine on Firefox. Jio will have to take a look at it. In the meanwhile, we strongly suggest you try viewing Bulbapedia in Firefox and not IE, it looks much better there. --electAbuzzzz 13:01, 14 February 2010 (UTC)
I've got AOL 9.0, I could try that. Taromon 13:24, 14 February 2010 (UTC)
No, it's the same in AOL. Taromon 13:28, 14 February 2010 (UTC)
Then you should try Firefox. --♫♪Adyniz♪♫ 13:37, 14 February 2010 (UTC)
I would but my computer's hard drive is practically full, I really cannot download anything more. Taromon 13:43, 14 February 2010 (UTC)
Oh, okay. But it is better to use firefox because all the features of BulbaTrio works absolutely fine on it. Anyway, try to uninstall useless programs if you want free space. --♫♪Adyniz♪♫ 13:46, 14 February 2010 (UTC)
Believe me, I've tried everything to free up my hard drive! Anyway, this is going a little off-topic now. I would really appreciate it if you could make the new theme work on IE, but there's no rush, I'll be patient! Taromon 13:49, 14 February 2010 (UTC)
I hate this look and i don't have firefox. Personally, i think we should either revert back to the old look until it is fixed or have a thing like we do in the forums, choosing what display we have. SpecialK Leiks Lucario and The Celebi Glitch 16:56, 14 February 2010 (UTC)
Which version of Internet Explorer are you using? That may play a role in your problem; I'm using Internet Explorer 8, and everything on that skin's showing up just fine for me. --Shiningpikablu252 16:57, 14 February 2010 (UTC)
IE8 s well, and everything is OK except the main page and every talk page. SpecialK Leiks Lucario and The Celebi Glitch 17:04, 14 February 2010 (UTC)
Yeah, can you make it so that the buttons(article, discussion, ect.)aren't in the way? User:Crazylegs24
I'm using Internet Explorer 7, maybe that could be the root of the problem. I'm sure there's enough space on my hard drive to upgrade, it's not the same as downloading a whole new programme. Perhaps I'll have a go at that. Taromon 17:37, 14 February 2010 (UTC)

Hmm...

  • I'm wondering if there is a way to make Bulbapedia look like the old design. I liked it more. :( Raichu 17:19, 14 February 2010 (UTC)
My preferences → Skin → Monobook. 梅子 17:34, 14 February 2010 (UTC)
Hey, Bulbapedia is all messed up. Like I can't even welcome cause ther is text in they way. I like the design, but know i can't do anything. Mudkipluvr4ever 18:05, 14 February 2010 (UTC)
Then go HERE, choose the "skin" tab, and change it to Monobook until this can be figured out. 梅子 18:10, 14 February 2010 (UTC)
There's just one problem... the "Erika's Garden" logo is covering up the "Skins" option so it can't be changed. Taromon 18:13, 14 February 2010 (UTC)
Exactly, i can't change it! Mudkipluvr4ever 18:15, 14 February 2010 (UTC)
Maybe it's your computers. It's not covering it up for me. :V Tyro 18:17, 14 February 2010 (UTC)
Read the "The new theme" discussion above. Taromon 18:18, 14 February 2010 (UTC)
Okay, I know about Tyro's case. Hey Mudkiplu, which browser are you using? Well, I tried Opera, Chrome and Firefox, it is 1000% working fine on all of them. --♫♪Adyniz♪♫ 18:20, 14 February 2010 (UTC)
I use Internet explorer. I could try opera i guess. Mudkipluvr4ever 18:21, 14 February 2010 (UTC)
Taro is also using IE and he is facing the exact same problem. So, I guess the problem is in the internet explorer not bulbapedia. Try firfox or opera and then check whether it is working fine or not. --♫♪Adyniz♪♫ 18:24, 14 February 2010 (UTC)
It is working fine in Opera, but could you change it to work on Internet Explorer too? Mudkipluvr4ever 18:25, 14 February 2010 (UTC)
For those of you who are having problems changing the skin because the logo is in the way, I've just found a solution. Resize the internet window so that the "Skins" link goes below the logo. Then you can go to the Skins page and select Monobook. Hmm... Taro... I rather like that! Taromon 18:27, 14 February 2010 (UTC)
Bingo, I knew it. Anyway, sorry bud I am not an admin and I think only admins can fix this problem completely. --♫♪Adyniz♪♫ 18:31, 14 February 2010 (UTC)
Don't worry I can make do with Monobook for the time being. Um... we're starting to run out of space down here in the bottom right corner! Taromon 18:38, 14 February 2010 (UTC)

For me, the skin tab is totally missing. Is there something wrong? --LGT 01:56, 15 February 2010 (UTC)

I am not even seeing a new skin or anything. If I didn't see this discussion, I wouldn't know there was a new skin. I am using Chrome if that helps find my problem. Blake Talk·Edits 02:30, 15 February 2010 (UTC)
It's being worked on right now; if I'm not mistaken, the skins are currently disabled while it's fixed, so bear with it for a little while if you're still stuck with a buggy skin. (if you absolutely must edit now and you're seeing errors in the skin, download a browser that supports current CSS 2.0 standards, such as Firefox, Opera, or Safari. Internet Explorer is particularly notable for not maintaining web standards.) -- Jïörüjï Ðērākō.>.cнаt^ 02:34, 15 February 2010 (UTC)
The new theme of bulbapedia is looking too bad (if you ask me). Really, it doesn't suit to bulbapedia at all. Please, can you change it back? ♫♪AdyNiz♪♫ 09:37, 27 February 2010 (UTC)
Yeah the green and red/pink really doesn't even flow well, just looks so random, it was better the old way. insomniac 09:46, 27 February 2010 (UTC)
It's for one day, to celebrate the 14th birthday of Pokémon. --electAbuzzzz 12:39, 27 February 2010 (UTC)
No offence, but it could have been better if it was a bit yellowish which highlights the color of main Pokémon (just saying :D). --♫♪AdyNiz♪♫ 12:44, 27 February 2010 (UTC)
It's the anniversary of Pokémon Red and Green Versions. Hence, Red and Green. One day. --electAbuzzzz 12:49, 27 February 2010 (UTC)
Oh, then its cool (as it totally highlights red and green color). --♫♪AdyNiz♪♫ 12:55, 27 February 2010 (UTC)
Today is 1st March and celebration is over (I guess so). So, I think the theme should be changed now (it really looks odd on the main page but I think we can change it now as the anniversary is over). Thank you. ♫♪AdyNiz♪♫ 17:30, 1 March 2010 (UTC)

Look at the above discussion, please. The skin was designed for the fifth anniversary, but it broke and we turned it off. That's why no one can see it now. Mmkay? —darklordtrom 21:25, 19 February 2010 (UTC)

It broke? I thought it just didn't work in Explorer. Taromon 14:38, 20 February 2010 (UTC)
Well that is the definition of "broken", but yes, that's not all that was going buggy with it. When things get completely ironed out, it'll make it back in as an optional skin, but I don't know when that will happen. The focus is on making the default skin look as good as possible right now. -- Jïörüjï Ðērākō.>.cнаt^ 18:07, 21 February 2010 (UTC)

Countdown to HGSS Clock

The clock is mis-programmed. It's counting down to March 13th, at 11:00 PM.--Wikifixer 09:36, 22 February 2010 (UTC)

Are you sure? It's says 14th march for me.--ForceFire 10:16, 22 February 2010 (UTC)
It seems to be counting down to March 14th, 4am UTC. Now the thing is that while daylight sasvings time starts on the 14th in the US this year, I don't think it starts until 2am on the day itself. So really it needs to count down to 5am UTC, and mention that it's counting to Eastern Standard Time rather than Eastern Daylight Time. TheChrisD RantsEdits 12:23, 22 February 2010 (UTC)
The clock is counting down to midnight EDT. Not like most stores will be open and selling the games at that point, though. TTEchidna 00:45, 28 February 2010 (UTC)

An idea for the anime location articles

I know, I know, I'm at it again! I was just wondering, would it be a good idea to have a list of the wild Pokémon which can be found in anime-only locations? There are many species of Pokémon that live in Alto Mare, for example. Taromon 19:50, 25 February 2010 (UTC)

I think no. That information wouldn't be used by anybody and it would be silly and just take up time. Blake Talk·Edits 22:56, 25 February 2010 (UTC)
Hmm... I had a feeling someone would say that. Perhaps I'll just mention wild Pokémon in the anime section (like in the Alto Mare article). Taromon 12:03, 26 February 2010 (UTC)
Pop them in the "In the anime" section of the article. Not as a template, just write a description.--Clarky13 09:34, 27 February 2010 (UTC)

I'm gonna take a wild guess...

...and say it's the anniversary of Red/Green. Correct? --GEN1KING 06:53, 28 February 2010 (UTC)

Yes yesterday was the 14 year anniversary of Pokemon since Red and Green were first released in Japan. I don't see why you need to add that to the talk page when you could have easily Googled it. insomniac 07:01, 28 February 2010 (UTC)
There's another website besides Google that could have given the answer. It's called Bulbapedia. Ever heard of it? 梅子 07:03, 28 February 2010 (UTC)
Sorry, just wondering... I just wanted to make sure, and even if I knew it was the annivesary, I wanted to know if the new skin for that day was official. Someone could have just said "Hahaha lolz hey doodz look what eye can doo! look, I maded da front page all prettyful!" You never know, what with all the idiots in the world. The "wanted articles" section needs updating!

I just started the wanted article "The Wobbuffet Village", only to find that the article already exists, under the title of "Wobbuffet Village". Taromon 19:35, 3 March 2010 (UTC)

I think The Wobbuffet Village is the title of a book, while Wobbuffet Village is the name of the place. Werdnae (talk) 02:05, 4 March 2010 (UTC)
The wanted pages list is cached. I think it updates every 24 hours. And yeah, Wobbuffet Village is the place, whereas The Wobbuffet Village is the Pokémon Jr. book. That should probably be disambig'd somehow... --ZestyCactus 02:14, 4 March 2010 (UTC)
Oh, I see! It's a bit misleading though, maybe there should be a note in brackets beside each link explaining exactly what the article should be about. Taromon 14:04, 4 March 2010 (UTC)

European Release

is there any chance that after this countdown ends, another for the European release begins? just so we all know how long we will have to wait... Empath-Silvio 12:25, 4 March 2010 (UTC)

Hey guys, I am facing this saving problem again. When ever I try to save an article (after editing it, offcourse) it always (most of the times) give me an error " Sorry! We could not process your edit due to a loss of session data. Please try again. If it still does not work, try logging out and logging back in. " This problem occurred a long time ago but then it was over. I am facing this problem since 5 days. Can you help me out in solving it? Thank you. ♫♪AdyNiz♪♫ 08:57, 7 March 2010 (UTC)

I have no idea, but remember, the main page talk page is not for general questions, it is on the subject of the front page itself. As for solving your problem, I would ask MAGNEDETH. He seems to be good at that stuff. --GEN1KING 04:59, 10 March 2010 (UTC)
Actually, I think it's appropriate to ask questions like these on the Main talk page, where else would he go? If you look at the other questions, some of them are technical issue questions as well. As for your problem Adyniz, if this happens a lot, it might just be a problem on your end. I get this error too sometimes. It could be due to the server issues others have mentioned on this page. Jello 05:08, 10 March 2010 (UTC)
I have this problem too, and deal with it be hitting the previous button to try again, until it is able to work. -Tyler53841 05:21, 10 March 2010 (UTC)
Genking, I asked this question here because this page is not only for the looks purpose (I think), you can see some previous topics related to technical problems and some general issues not regarding to front page which includes Logging out, Server Problem, Featured Article, Route exploration requirements, Upload error, Since when... and Page history etc (not counting the problems of previous archieves). So, I don't feel anything wrong in asking question here. So, is it server issue or there is something wrong with my net/browser/pc? Thank you. ♫♪AdyNiz♪♫ 11:40, 10 March 2010 (UTC)
This talk page is used for questions that involve the Pedia in a whole, which is why there are talk pages for specific questions about Pokémon, items, characters, and locations. And to answer your question Adyniz, they're working some stuff out with the servers, so it might be related, might not. R.A. Hunter Blade 14:00, 10 March 2010 (UTC)
Oh, Thanks. ♫♪AdyNiz♪♫ 16:46, 10 March 2010 (UTC)

Upload error

I tried to upload a new version of Bonsly's artwork and it said that the file extension was corrupt. What does this mean and why won't it work? I called the file 438Bonsly.png and the original version is called Art-Bonsly.jpg, is this the cause of the problem? Taromon 16:39, 7 March 2010 (UTC)

Oh, I just realised a better image had already been uploaded. Added it to Bonsly's article. Taromon 16:44, 7 March 2010 (UTC)
Based from what I understood from what you said, I guess it's because pngs can only replace pngs; same for other formats. tc²₆tc26 16:50, 7 March 2010 (UTC)

I am having trouble viewing changes to pages. I can see everything in the page histories just fine, but it won't show the changes for some pages. A specific edit I can think of is this one. R.A. Hunter Blade 03:02, 8 March 2010 (UTC)

I've been having this issue too, although it went away when I went back to the history and clicked "compare" again. May I ask, what's going on? Is the green background and everything new, or is my browser mucking up? It would appear...

That after I previewed (yes, only previewed, didn't try) the new skin, Bulbapedia has been having trouble loading pages. Am I The Only One?

Hey, earlier this evening did anyone notice the headline "May CoroCoro announces Gen V Starters and Mawille Evolution"... I don't think I was the only one seeing as a bunch of people use "Slowpedia" But seriously did anyone else see this? I even posted on Giancarlopariomango11's wall on YouTube about this but some guy said to stop spamming. And now that its been removed from the site completely there is no proof that I wasn't lying... No you weren't seeing things. It was up, but deleted twice, as it still showed up in my feed reader. It's a damn pity that feed only gives the headline, otherwise I could've seen the rest of the story :/ TheChrisD RantsEdits 10:13, 1 April 2010 (UTC)

This is probably why Bulbanews shouldn't publish new stories to the RSS feed of the forums for a couple of hours after creation, or at least until an admin clears it. Every time the story's title is changed, Google Reader counts it as a new item... Or if a story is deleted quickly after creation it didn't get published. We don't currently have any skin options, aside from our default modified version of Monobook. However, there is a possibility of some other skin options in the future (we've had issues getting skins working properly).
There's also always the option to modify your own personal /monobook.css page (in your userspace), if you really want something custom. Otherwise, Monobook is what we work with, you'll have to make due with that. -- Jïörüjï Ðērākō.>.cнаt^ 09:48, 3 April 2010 (UTC)

Rare Candies in evolution tables

Having pictures of Rare Candies on the Pokémon evolution tables seems a bit strange, almost like it's implying that this is the standard way of levelling up a Pokémon. It might be better to use an "Exp" symbol, like in Pinball Ruby & Sapphire. Taromon 13:49, 26 April 2010 (UTC)

Actually, The Rare Candy Symbol shall be Used as We use Item Symbols on Evolution tables. See Pikachu's Raichu Table? or Feebas-Mitolic Table? So We Use rare Candy as its the only Item GIVING Exp. ------ Ash's Infernape. I was a Chimchar, Then a Monferno, I hate Paul, I Love Ash, Myself Infernape. 20:27, 26 April 2010 (UTC)
But in those cases that item is the only way to evolve that Pokémon. (Although you can evolve Feebas by haircuts in HGSS). Rare candies actually aren't used that commonly, if we must have an item (which I've never seen written down as an official policy) it could easily be a Lucky egg or an Exp Share. By the way your signature needs to have a link to your UserPage on it. My 2 cents, refunds available.--Beligaronia (talk) 21:30, 26 April 2010 (UTC)

Cinco de Mayo's not even that relevant a holiday to Mexico... Why is the US obsessed on treating it like it's the most important? It annoys me... Now, put up this theme on September 16th, our actual national holiday (and when we actually get a day off school and work), and I'll forgive you. =D Memo326 18:58, 5 May 2010 (UTC)
Although I enjoy the changing themes, it irritates me that there isn't a label/note telling us what the theme is on the main page. I mean, it's fun to guess, but having a new talk section just to find out what the theme is seems like a waste. Also, whilst I'm moaning, when there is a countdown to something new, please be fair to fans around the world and have a timer for each different region. Sorry about the rant. Teshigigas [Talk] 19:23, 5 May 2010 (UTC)
About the timer thing... it's been stated many, many times that we do only the American/Japanese releases because the American is almost always the first English-language release. If an English game is released in Europe first, then we would count down to the European release. We do what comes out first. And... well, we do the Japanese release too because that's the first time it's being released ever. 8|
Want a countdown for your release? Hunt down a countdown addon for your browser or something.
Though I do agree that maybe we could do "Happy ____ Day!" on the main page so people won't have to post on here each time it's changed. D: ▫▪Ťïňắ 19:39, 5 May 2010 (UTC)

BulbaBot

I'm a little confused by the user BulbaBot. I assume that it is a virtual "robot" which automatically crawls through articles and makes small edits, but how come it manages to respond to its talk page edits with intelligent sentences? It even said that "I am under my own control". How is this possible? A computer would never be able to do that even in thousands of years, let alone in 2010. Also, the screenshots aren't just on Serebii... they're also on, yknow, the official site. Right here. ▫▫ティナ 01:28, 15 May 2010 (UTC)
It's not so much a policy of "Serebii is evil" as opposed to "Serebii is just as much a fansite as Bulbapedia". This means we need to see his sources if we want to use stuff he publishes. To verify that he isn't pulling the wool over our eyes. (And that's not a comment just about Serebii, it goes for most sites). —darklordtrom 02:41, 15 May 2010 (UTC)
But it would be OK to take them from the official site wouldn't it? I suppose it's possible they could be beta sprites but they'd do for the time being. T a r o m o n 10:34, 15 May 2010 (UTC)

Suggestion (that probably won't be taken...)

I get annoyed when I type in something like Arceus in the search and it brings me to a disambiguation page, because frankly I mainly want to see the Pokémon stats, moves, sprites, and etc. I think that it should bring you to say Arceus (Pokémon), and at the top of that page say something like "Whoops, did you mean {insert something here}?" Pokemon1234567890 03:02, 15 May 2010 (UTC)

That's what disambigs are for. "Did you mean this, or did you mean this?" You never know what people want. ▫▫ティナ 03:04, 15 May 2010 (UTC)
Perhaps it would be better to add something like this to the top of the Pokémon species articles:
This article is about the Pokémon species. For the character which appeared in Arceus and the Jewel of Life, see Arceus (anime).

Alternatively, if you actually type "Arceus (Pokémon)" into the search box instead of just "Arceus", it will go directly to the species article, skipping the disambiguation page. T a r o m o n 10:40, 15 May 2010 (UTC)
What would you do for Pikachu? Having 16 of those at the top of the article would be such a hindrance. MaverickNate 02:51, 16 May 2010 (UTC)

Hm... good point. I suppose we could do something like this:

This article is about the Pokémon species. For the character from the Pokémon anime, see Ash's Pikachu. Click here for a list of other Pikachu-related articles.

And the "Click here" text could link to the disambig page. On the other hand... perhaps best just to type (Pokémon) in the search box. T a r o m o n 09:46, 16 May 2010 (UTC)

Wikipedia has something along the lines of:
ArticleName redirects here. For other uses, see ArticleName (disambiguation)
Since most people, when searching for a Pokémon, are looking for stats etc, I think adopting that system is better than currently going straight to the disambiguation page. Fewer clicks = better. Raylax 19:05, 16 May 2010 (UTC)
I completely agree. Just like Wikipedia, the most notable subject should be where the name goes to. Then it shows a link to "Subject (disambiguation)". Having it go to the disambag is silly when 90% of people are looking for the ACTUAL POKEMON. Blake Talk·Edits 21:13, 16 May 2010 (UTC)
But Blake, we aren't Wikipedia. I'm 100% against this. CuboneKing 21:17, 16 May 2010 (UTC)
One of the main reasons why we have the current system, is because all the parenthetical tags at the end of names have something to do with Pokémon. Whether it be Pokémon, anime, TCG, PokéWake, whatever. This is a detail that most people look over, but it keeps all of our pages 100% Pokémon. Putting "disambiguation" loses this cool characteristic that only Bulbapedia has. MaverickNate 21:22, 16 May 2010 (UTC)
I do NOT think this is cool. Typing in Pikachu (Pokémon) every time I want to see it's stats is just annoying, and typing in Pikachu and taking me to a disambiguation page isn't fun either. I say we just have a vote, and see whether the people of Bulbapedia wants these changes or not. That would be the best democratic thing to do, or you guys can keep going on the current communist system, and all of us flee to the safety of another site. (Which I am on the verge of doing by the way) Pokemon1234567890 02:00, 19 May 2010 (UTC)
Don't worry... we're planning on reconstructing the Pokedex pages so stuff like stats/movesets and all that will be higher up on the page. If anything, if you use the on-site search engine, you could wait a second when typing "Pikachu"... it'll pop up a suggestions thing and "Pikachu (Pokémon)" should be like, the second option. Seriously it takes like a second (less than that) for the suggestions to pop up. -_-;
And if you do end up using a different site, do we honestly mind if you use something different for movesets? I mean, I use different 'dexes for movesets/stats (Veekun, Smogon) and I don't think anyone gives a crap. I don't see how we're communists because we use a different disambig style from Wikipedia, though. ▫▫ティナ 02:18, 19 May 2010 (UTC)
For what it's worth, I like our disambig style the way it is. I can't speak for everyone but it really doesn't bother me to have disambig pages for species... like is it really that much effort to wait for search suggestions or click one extra time :P We aren't Wikipedia, and we shouldn't have to do things exactly the way they do just because "people are used to it" or some dumb reason like that. --ZestyCactus 03:42, 19 May 2010 (UTC)
I like our disambiguation style as it is, however, in the interest of a balanced argument you do have to type more than the Pokémon's name into the search box. Using the method Tina suggested (two posts above) for Pikachu, results in a bunch of TCG articles popping up, and, even using the scroller, the article Pikachu (Pokémon) doesn't show up until one has typed in at least "Pikachu (P" and then the shown link is actually to the redirect Pikachu (Pokemon). Personally I have no problem typing those extra three characters but it might be an idea to look at how the search bar suggests articles, if this is within the control of the admins and not merely an alphabetical list of articles.—Beligaronia (talk) 04:34, 19 May 2010 (UTC)
If I remember right, it's alphabetical, and parenthesis are before normal letters. R.A. Hunter Blade 12:45, 19 May 2010 (UTC)
Well, obviously, it doesn't seem to work that way since the entry "Pikachu (Pokémon)" does not appear at the top (or even at all, unless you add (P ). -- Socob ( Talk | Contribs ) 18:13, 21 May 2010 (UTC)
Just to weigh in, I would prefer typing in a name and going straight to the dex page. Putting some obscure "cool" factor over convenience is just silly and counter-productive to creating an useful and user-friendly website. --Grinnz 18:26, 21 May 2010 (UTC)
disambigs are not for "Cool factor" they are for...convenience. not everyone who searches Pikachu means Pikachu. they may mean Ash's Pikachu, so therefor, a disambig is put into place. -- MAGNEDETH 19:08, 21 May 2010 (UTC)
I'd like to step in and say that this issue has been discussed numerous times in Bulbapedia history. We held community-wide polls and the end result was always a decision to keep things the way it is. This subject has been beaten to death. Please stop talking about it. That's the way it is, because that's what the community decided. --electAbuzzzz 20:18, 21 May 2010 (UTC)
"Please stop talking about it."
Yes, very typical of someone in power to make a dictatorial decision like that just so that they don't have to talk. When was the last time it was discussed? When was the last time a community-wide poll was carried out? Maybe the community has changed since then and now the general consensus is to have the 'dex on the main article name. But of course, what use is consensus when the people in charge just ignore it and do it the way they want to.
Personally, if it's going to be kept the way it is, at least have a small portion of the 'dex page on the dab page - such as the infobox, navigation header, intro and biology sections. Also, the link to the species article on the dab page is very small and should be made more prominent, since it is probably what the vast majority of people want to see. TheChrisD RantsEdits 10:51, 23 May 2010 (UTC)
Who cares? It's only 2-3 click, it shouldn't be this big of a deal. Like Magnedeth said, Pikachu doesn't always refer to the species, it could mean anything.--ForceFire 11:44, 23 May 2010 (UTC)
Two or three clicks may not seem like much to you, but when it comes to optimisation and things like that, it's not particularly great. Yea, a Pokémon's name doesn't always refer to the species itself, but in my eyes, the vast majority of people who would visit such a page are likely looking, for in-game information with regards to the species and as such are probably wanting that page. TheChrisD RantsEdits 18:47, 23 May 2010 (UTC)
You don't tell your parents or school teachers that they're being dictatorial when they tell you to stop talking, do you Chris? Stop means stop. Doesn't matter who it is. If you told us to stop talking to you on your own talk page (unless it was something that had to be figured out), we'd stop. And just because you weren't here for when it was discussed and polled last, doesn't mean it didn't happen.
And are you saying that the very first link on the page is too small? R.A. Hunter Blade 13:15, 23 May 2010 (UTC)
Way to make a massive incorrect assumption out of the blue with regards to my age there... You can't police people on the Internet by simply telling them to not do something. Some regular readers/editors might want to discuss is because they feel it is important and simply cutting them off like that making a very executive decision isn't great working.
With regards to the link, yes it is small. It doesn't immediately pop out as it blends in to the first sentence too well. Taking Pikachu's dab page for example, the first thing I notice when it loads is all the links to all the dab articles as they appear right in the middle of my screen. If there was a larger banner of sorts with the link to the main species page, then it would be a lot clearer and easier to spot. It's all about accessibility and optimisation. Hence my suggestion of having a condensed version of the top of the main species page on top of the dab page to first make it clear what the dab page is related to, as well as hopefully having a clear link to the main species page. Why would we need a large banner though? We could make the species link a bit bigger I guess, but since I don't have any say in it, somebody else will have to decide. R.A. Hunter Blade 00:50, 24 May 2010 (UTC)
personally, i hate the disambigs, a lot, but they serve an important purpose and theres no effective way around them. deal with it. -- MAGNEDETH 06:06, 24 May 2010 (UTC)
Chris, I apologize if what I said seemed that way to you, but it is my job to cut off such discussions when they're done. This sidcussion is done. We will not have a new poll every year just for this purpose. The community has already spoken. We did not make this decision, the users did. Deal with it. --electAbuzzzz 06:29, 24 May 2010 (UTC)
I think it's been more or less settled that the disambig pages should stay, but I've had a thought - would it be a good idea to add the Sugimori artwork for the Pokemon species on the disambig pages? It would make the page look more attractive and people might find it less annoying. T a r o m o n 16:35, 26 May 2010 (UTC)

Number of edits

Is there a way you can view the specific statistics of your edits? Like how many mainspace edits, talk page edits, etc. — AxxonntheAwesometrainer 02:42, 16 May 2010 (UTC)

I don't think there is a list of those stats anywhere, but the can be worked out by clicking the my contributions link at the top. Werdnae (talk) 06:19, 16 May 2010 (UTC)
We have a template for that, I thought TTE brought it over from Zelda Wiki.org See this Axiomist 22:39, 16 May 2010 (UTC)

Coding

How would you code something that displays the time passed since something? For example, the age of something? — AxxonntheAwesometrainer 00:54, 26 May 2010 (UTC)

The countdown tags work even after the time has passed. I tried to make it work here, but it didn't so you can see it in the WiKirby Sandbox here Axiomist 06:12, 30 May 2010 (UTC)
