Cerulean City is a peaceful seaside city located on the north-central side of Kanto. As the Bike Shop has moved to Goldenrod City and the mysterious cave on the edge of town has collapsed, the only remaining tourist attraction is the Gym.
Cerulean City is a beautiful city with flowing water and blooming flowers. It is located between 4, 24, 9, and 5. The local Bike Shop has moved to Goldenrod City and the mysterious cave that was located on the edge of town has collapsed, leaving little to do but challenge the Cerulean Gym.

Recover the Machine Part
Cerulean Gym
Upon entering the Gym, you are nearly run over by a man in a dark uniform. He babbles aimlessly for a minute before running off. Follow him northward to find him on Nugget Bridge.
The Man in Black
Upon entering the Gym, a man in a dark uniform runs into you. He stops for a moment to make sure that you are not hurt, then mentions how it would be a problem if he was seen by anyone. Suddenly realizing that he has indeed already been seen, he orders you to forget about him before rushing off.

24 stretches north from Cerulean City to 25. Most of the area is occupied by a river and the Nugget Bridge that crosses it.

Power Plant
As thanks for recovering the machinery, the manager rewards you with 07, a powerful but inaccurate move. With the region's power now running smoothly, it is possible to tie up some loose ends.
The Lost Item
Visit the Copycat's house northwest of the Silph Co. building. She asks that you find her Battle item that she believes is lost in Vermilion City. Stop by the Fan Club and talk to the man with the "Clefairy" to retrieve the II. Return it to the girl to receive the II, the ticket to board the Magnet Train.
Radio Tower
Stop by the Radio Tower and speak to the manager at the north wall. As the power was turned back on, he never lost his job. He gives you the Pokégear for your Pokégear as thanks.

Stop, Thief!
The man dressed in black can be found regrouping on Nugget Bridge. He identifies himself as a member of Team Rocket, and that his secret mission was to disable the Power Plant's generator in order to cause mass panic. He makes you a deal: defeat him in battle, and he will reveal where he hid the stolen part.
After the battle, he reveals that he hid the Machine Part in the waters of Cerulean Gym, and tells you to search the area in the middle. He shrugs off his loss, saying that his Team Rocket friends will come from Johto to get revenge for him, but quickly flees when he realizes that no help is coming.
Cerulean City
Cerulean Gym
Sunken Treasure
The Gym Leader has stepped out for the moment and there are no Gym Trainers around. Search the waters in the enclosed part of the walkway to recover the Machine Part.
Route 10 (North)
Kanto Power Plant
Power Restored!
Return to the Power Plant and speak to the manager to deliver the Machine Part. He is grateful to see it returned, and rewards you with 07.
With the generator restored and the Power Plant back online, there are certain sidequests that may now be completed.
Saffron City
Copycat's house
Return to Saffron City and visit the Copycat's house in the northwest part of the city. Speak to her to learn that she has lost her favorite Poké Doll, and believes it to be located somewhere in Vermilion City.
Vermilion City
Pokémon Fan Club
Return to Vermilion City and visit the Pokémon Fan Club on the west side of town. Speak to the man with the Clefairy Poké Doll to explain the situation. He has not yet been able to catch his own Clefairy, and brought a doll that he had found instead. When he realizes that it is missed by its owner, he gladly gives up the Lost Item.
Saffron City
Copycat's house
Speak to the girl to return the Lost Item. She rewards you with a Pass, a ticket used to board the Magnet Train. Her old home was torn down to make room for the train station, and she received the item from a train company representative as compensation. Now that the Power Plant is operational again, the Magnet Train runs between Johto's Goldenrod City and Kanto's Saffron City twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week. As the S.S. Aqua sails only on certain days, riding the train is the most convenient means of travel between the two regions.
Lavender Town
Radio Tower
Return to Lavender Town's Radio Tower and speak to the manager near the north wall. With the power back on and the tower broadcasting normally, he never lost his job. Realizing that it is you that he has to thank for this, he rewards you with an Pokégear. This expansion card allows the Pokégear to tune into all three programs that are broadcast from here.

Conversely, 25 has a multitude of Trainers to fight. When the others are defeated, talk to Cooltrainer Kevin to receive a Valuable item, before he battles you as well.
25 leads eastward from 24. The path winds its way through a forest before it ends overlooking the sea. The Sea Cottage is located on the east side.

The first Trainer encountered here, Schoolboy Dudley, is part of a group of six and challenges you to defeat them all. Fight each one as you move eastward, ending with Lass Shannon, to complete the challenge. Defeat Super Nerd Pat as well, then speak to Cooltrainer Kevin to receive your prize: a Nugget. With her time off ruined, Misty has no choice but to return to the Cerulean Gym, which specializes in Water Pokémon. As the building features a large swimming pool, this is the only Gym where Pokémon can be hooked on a fishing rod. Grass- and Electric attacks will inflict heavy damage to these aquatic opponents, but avoid using Fire-, Ground-, and Rock Pokémon.

The Cerulean Gym specializes in Water Pokémon. Water-type moves are super effective against Fire-, Ground-, and Rock Pokémon, while Water-type Pokémon are weak to Electric- and Grass moves.

The Gym features a large swimming pool, with an elevated walkway that leads to the back of the building. At least two of the three Gym Trainers must be defeated in order to reach the Gym Leader.

Electric attacks are a major vulnerability for Misty's team. Only the Ground Quagsire is unaffected by Electric moves, and can deal increased damage to Electric Pokémon with Earthquake. If Rain Dance takes effect, Water moves receive a power boost and Thunder has its Accuracy increased to 100%. Grass moves will do equally well, but both Lapras and Starmie can counter Grass Pokémon with their Ice attacks. Alternatively, Lapras takes serious damage from Fighting- and Rock moves, while Starmie falters against Bug-, Ghost-, and Dark moves.

A wicked Thunderbolt can take out Misty's Golduck and Starmie, but be wary of Starmie's Recover. Her Lapras has additional weaknesses, including Fighting- and Steel moves. Her Quagsire is immune to electricity, but suffers massive damage when hit by Grass-type attacks. If Rain Dance takes effect, Water moves will be strengthened while Thunder's accuracy is boosted to 100%.

Cerulean City

Cerulean City

Cerulean City is a beautiful city with flowing water and blooming flowers. It is located between Route 4, Route 24, Route 9, and Route 5. The local Bike Shop has moved to Goldenrod City and the mysterious cave that was located on the edge of town has collapsed, leaving little to do but challenge the Cerulean Gym.

Cerulean Gym

The Man in Black

Upon entering the Gym, a man in a dark uniform runs into you. He stops for a moment to make sure that you are not hurt, then mentions how it would be a problem if he was seen by anyone. Suddenly realizing that he has indeed already been seen, he orders you to forget about him before rushing off.

Route 24

Route 24

Route 24 stretches north from Cerulean City to Route 25. Most of the area is occupied by a river and the Nugget Bridge that crosses it.

He is grateful to see it returned, and rewards you with TM07 (Zap Cannon).

Magnet Train station

Realizing that it is you that he has to thank for this, he rewards you with an EXPN Card. This expansion card allows the Pokégear to tune into all three programs that are broadcast from here.

Route 25

Route 25

Route 25 leads eastward from Route 24. The path winds its way through a forest before it ends overlooking the sea. The Sea Cottage is located on the east side.

Challenge Accepted

The first Trainer encountered here, Schoolboy Dudley, is part of a group of six and challenges you to defeat them all. Fight each one as you move eastward, ending with Lass Shannon, to complete the challenge. Defeat Super Nerd Pat as well, then speak to Cooltrainer Kevin to receive your prize: a Nugget. After seeing how you battle, he wants to know how well he would fare, and draws you into battle.

Cerulean Cape

Misty and her date

Date, Interrupted

Upon reaching the cape, you find the Cerulean Gym Leader on a date nearby. Her date runs off and she starts to yell, until she spots your Johto Badges. She states that you must be strong if you earned all eight Badges, and invites you to Cerulean Gym. She introduces herself as Misty before heading back to town.

Bill's Cottage

The Sea Cottage belongs to Bill, but his grandfather is housesitting while he is away. The elderly man enjoys hearing about all of the Pokémon that his grandson meets. Speak to him, and he describes a certain Pokémon. Show him a Pokémon of the correct species, and he rewards you with an Evolution stone.

# Description Pokémon Reward
1 "A Pokémon that has a long tongue."   Lickitung   Everstone
2 "A round, green Pokémon that has leaves growing on its head."   Oddish   Leaf Stone
3 "A sea Pokémon that has a red sphere in its body.
You know, the one that's shaped like a star."
  Staryu   Water Stone
4 "A Pokémon that is very loyal to its Trainer.
It's supposed to Roar well."
  Growlithe   Fire Stone
5 "That hugely popular Pokémon that has a yellow body and red cheeks.
I would love to see what it looks like before it evolves."
  Pichu   Thunderstone
