Dai and his Empoleon from The Rise of Darkrai.
(Japanese: ダイ Dai) is a Pokémon Trainer who appeared in The Rise of Darkrai. Since he was not given a name in the dub, this article will refer to him as Dai. He is voiced by Ax Norman in English and 秋山竜次 Ryūji Akiyama in Japanese.
He, along with Maurice and Maki, challenge Ash and company to a battle; specifically, he went up again Dawn with her Piplup, which began as a puff-contest (befitting their species' nature).
According to the end credits, he also participated in the Alamos Contest, where he defeated Maurice in the second round, and was likely defeated by Maki in the finals, who had already defeated Dawn, because he was there on stage when she received her ribbon.
