Contents

The guide begins with an introduction to FireRed and LeafGreen and introduces type matchups. This section also gives an overview of activities and different aspects in the Pokémon world, such as Tall grass, Fishing, and Surfing. It gives detailed instructions regarding the player's journey from Pallet Town and is organized with events in numerical order. The guide also lists the available Pokémon on each route and their rarity as well as the parties and levels of every Trainer's Pokémon. The guide covers all eight Gyms, all Rival battles, the Elite Four, and the events on the first seven of the Sevii Islands. In the back, there is a complete Kanto and Johto Pokédex as well as a list of TMs, HMs, and Berries.

Trivia

Errors

  • On page 13, in the section about Pewter City, some editions of the guide refer to the the Gym as having an entry fee of $50. In later editions, this was corrected to say Museum.
  • On page 28, in the section about Route 11, a note suggests the player "Go left and enter the Pokémon Center to heal, then go into the cave (Rock Tunnel) around the bend." Walking left from Route 11 leads to Vermillion City, which does have a Pokémon Center; however, Rock Tunnel is not located on this route, with it instead containing an entrance to Diglett's Cave. This tip may have been intended to be placed on the page for Route 9, which contains a very similar tip that suggests the player proceed to the route's end to find the Pokémon Center and entrance to Rock Tunnel (which are located on Route 10, past the end of Route 9).
  • On page 30, the floors of Rock Tunnel are labelled "Entry Level" (corresponding to 1F) and "Exit Level" (corresponding to B1F). However, both the entrance and exit are located on 1F, with B1F only being connected to 1F.
  • On page 45, the section detailing Koga states that Psychic, Fire, and Rock are strongest against Poison types. Poison types are actually weak to Psychic- and Ground-type moves, while taking neutral damage from Fire- and Rock-type moves.
  • On page 53, the guide recommends using an Electric-, Water-, or Grass-type Pokémon against Giovanni's Nidorino and Rhyhorn; while Water- and Grass-type moves would be super effective against Rhyhorn (although Grass-type moves are not very effective against Nidorino), Rhyhorn is immune to Electric-type moves due to being Ground-type.
  • On page 53, the guide states that an Electric-type Pokémon would easily defeat Giovanni's Nidoqueen. This is incorrect, as it is Ground-type and therefore is immune to Electric-type moves.
  • On page 60, in the section about Viridian Gym, Giovanni's party is listed as including a Level 54 Nidoking; his party actually contains a Level 45 Nidoking.
  • On page 65, the guide suggests using Electric-type moves against Lance's two Dragonair, but Dragonair is resistant to Electric.
  • On page 143, in Pineco's entry in the Pokédex section, the guide says it can be found in the Cave of Origin in Pokémon FireRed. The guide likely meant to say Altering Cave, but Pineco can only be found there with an event distribution that was never distributed.
