The Team Aqua Hideout (Japanese: アクアだんアジト Team Aqua Hideout) is the main base of Team Aqua in Sapphire, Emerald and Alpha Sapphire.

In Ruby and Omega Ruby, it is known as Team Magma Hideout instead. The base is essentially the same, though there is less water, all Aqua members are replaced by Magma members, and Matt is replaced by TabithaR or CourtneyOR.

Geography

Just northeast of Lilycove City lies the Hideout, an area only accessible after Team Aqua has stolen the submarine in Slateport City.

On the inside, the player will find teleport platforms scattered about. There are also a number of Grunts to take on, who will battle the player to stall for time. The final Trainer the player battles is Aqua Admin Matt, who will tell the player that Archie, the leader of Team Aqua, has left with the submarine to the watery depths near Sootopolis City.

After finishing everything in the Hideout, the player is free to move onto Route 124 which was previously blocked by a Grunt trying to train his Wailmer. Route 124 connects to Mossdeep City. In Sapphire, the entrance to the hideout is sealed after defeating Tate and Liza, meaning the player can no longer collect any items or battle any trainers inside.

In the Pokémon Adventures manga

In Pokémon Adventures, the Aqua Hideout briefly makes an appearance in Always Keep Whiscash on You for Emergencies when Maxie and Tabitha are let in to join their resources with Team Aqua for the time being so that they reach the Seafloor Cavern safely. Many Grunts from both teams are also taken as backup.

Trivia

There is a picture of a boy with a shaved head, a girl with black hair, and a Pokémon with three notes attached to its head. "The 7th day of the –th month, –002. With Arc–e and –rachi." The letters at the edge of the picture are faded and hard to read…
Based on the description, the picture likely features young Archie and Shelly with Jirachi. The date described can possibly be the 7th of July, the date of Tanabata, the Japanese star festival which Jirachi is commonly associated with. This theory is further supported in the Spanish version of the game, where the date is slightly altered, showing the year number –003 instead of –002. This is likely a reference to Tomiko Suzuki, the voice actor who voiced Jirachi in Jirachi: Wish Maker and died of a heart attack on July 7, 2003, the same date as Tanabata was held.
