Trivia

A policeman in the lookout station to Canalave City says "Boy... I sure am thirsty... ". This is a reference to the thirsty guards in the lookout stations on Route 5, 6, 7, and 8, who prevented access to Saffron City.
The route itself, however short it may be, is similar to Route 12 and the Silence Bridge in Kanto that joins Lavender Town and Routes 11 and 13, in the fact that they both contain prime fishing spots, have wooden bridge-like areas, and have fishermen who will give the player a fishing rod.
After being defeated, Fisherman Miguel states, "Do you hear that? It is my guitar weeping..." This may be a reference to the popular song by The Beatles, While My Guitar Gently Weeps.
