Paradox duo is a fan term for the Legendary duo consisting of Koraidon and Miraidon. They originated in two parallel timelines of the Pokémon world, but reside in the Paldea region. They're Paradox Pokémon and counterparts to Cyclizar. In their battle states, they're the game mascots of Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, respectively, and share the secondary type of Dragon.
Overview
In Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, the first KoraidonS/MiraidonV is met at the beginning of the games' story, and will serve as the player's main ride Pokémon, similar to the Ride Pokémon of Hisui and the Ride Pokémon of Alola. While initially they cannot be used in battle, the Koraidon/Miraidon will automatically join the player's team and can be used in battle after completing the main story.
The first Koraidon/Miraidon will always have a set Nature of Quirky when obtained; the second more aggressive Koraidon/Miraidon will have a set Nature of Adamant or Modest.
History
KoraidonS/MiraidonV are said to be said to be from a parallel, prehistoricS/futuristicV timeline, before being pulled out from there through the "time machine" made by using Terastal energy.
They were brought to Paldea's Area Zero by SadaS/TuroV in the Zero Lab, where their "time machine" was built. They did so in order to bring Pokémon from the ancient pastS/distant futureV into the present day world, in hopes that Pokémon from the time period that the professor has dreamed of learning more about would be able to live in harmony with the Pokémon of the present. The Legendary Pokémon was stated to be an ancientS/futureV form of the present day Pokémon Cyclizar. The Legendary Pokémon was docile and friendly and, after being documented by the professor, would also occassionally live with the professor at the laboratory on Poco Path along with the professor's son, Arven. However, the Legendary Pokémon was eventually returned to Area Zero in fear that its presence would garner too much attention.
Eventually, Professor Sada/Turo succeeded in bringing forth a second Koraidon/Miraidon from the time machine; however, this individual was significantly more aggressive, violent, and territorial. The second Legendary Pokémon attacked the first during a territorial dispute. The professor attempted to protect the first Legendary Pokémon, but took a mortal blow and died. The first Legendary Pokémon was eventually defeated and weakened, and in its fear, eventually escaped Area Zero and wound up stranded near the Inlet Grotto, losing all of its powers in the process.
In the games
Pokémon Scarlet and Violet
The stranded Koraidon/Miraidon was eventually discovered by Florian/Juliana, who fed it a homemade sandwich, which allowed it to regain some of its energy. After Florian/Juliana met Arven, the latter entrusts the Legendary Pokémon's Poké Ball to them. Florian/Juliana, while unable to use the Legendary Pokémon in battle due to its weakened state, relies on it as a partner to travel across Paldea during their journey. During the Path of Legends storyline, the Legendary Pokémon repeatedly begs the player for Arven's sandwiches made with the Herba Mystica, and gradually regains most of its powers, barring its ability to battle.
In the final story arc, The Way Home, once Florian/Juliana, Arven, Nemona, and Penny enter Area Zero on Professor Sada/Turo's request, Koraidon/Miraidon uses its gliding powers to glide the four friends into Area Zero successfully, though not before showing evident fear of entering Area Zero, due unbeknownst to the four friends to the trauma it sustained from its previous confrontation with the more aggressive Koraidon/Miraidon. Upon landing, it retreats into its Poké Ball and refuses to come out during the group's venture into Area Zero. After a brief confrontation with the more aggressive Legendary Pokémon, and after the player defeats the AI Sada/Turo in a battle on the latter's request, the Paradise Protection Protocol activates, summoning the second Legendary Pokémon into battle. The system shuts down all Poké Balls that do not belong to the professor; however, as the Legendary Pokémon's Poké Ball is also associated with the professor's ID, Florian/Juliana are able to call upon it as a last resort. With the support of Florian/Juliana and their friends, the Legendary Pokémon regains its full strength and combat capabilities, finally mustering the courage to stand up against and fight the other Legendary Pokémon that once overpowered it, ultimately emerging victorious.
The second, more aggressive Koraidon/Miraidon can be battled and caught in Area Zero after the main story is complete.

Trivia
- The Paradox duo is the only Legendary duo where one of its members are given to the player at the beginning of a game's story (though they cannot be used in battle until later).
- The Paradox duo is the only Legendary game mascot duo where two instances of one of its members can be obtained by the player in a single save file.
