The Beauty Contest is one of five different Pokémon Contest categories, the other four being Cute, Smart, Cool and Tough. Many Beauty moves are Ice-, Water-, or Template:Type2s, but other types may be Beauty as well. Many Beauty moves in Hoenn Contests also increase the user's condition. During a Beauty Contest, the following moves will excite the crowd:

The Beauty condition is raised by Poffin or Pokéblocks made with dry-flavored Berries. Pokémon with natures that boost Special Attack - Modest, Mild, Quiet, and Rash - get the most benefit from dry Berries, so they are the easiest to raise for a Beauty Contest. In Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver, a Pokémon's Beauty condition can be raised with Daisy Oak's massages.

BubbleBeam 1 3 ♥♥♥ Badly startles those who have made appeals. 2 ♥♥ Enables the user to perform last in the next turn.  
Bulk Up 1 0 User gains a star if their condition is good, and they receive the number of stars as points after the next round. Every star they have (up to 3) lessens the probability of their Pokémon becoming nervous. 0 Earn double the score in the next turn.  
Conversion 2 ♥♥ 0 Works well if it's the same type as the one before. 1 Earn +3 if the Pokémon gets the lowest score.

Cotton Spore 2 ♥♥ 1 ♥ Subtracts 5 appeal points from any Pokémon in Combo Standby who appealed prior to the user. Subtracts 1 point from any Pokémon not in Combo Standby. 2 ♥♥ Enables the user to perform first in the next turn.  
Dive 2 ♥♥ 0 Can avoid being startled by others once. 1 Earn +3 if no other Pokémon has chosen the same Judge.  
Ember 4 ♥♥♥♥ 0 A highly appealing move. 3 ♥♥♥ A basic performance using a move known by the Pokémon.  
Eruption 1 0 The appeal works better the later it is performed. 2 ♥♥ Earn +2 if the Pokémon performs last in the turn..  
Explosion 8 ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ 0 The user cannot make anymore appeals after this 0 Earn +15 if all the Pokémon choose the same Judge.  
FeatherDance 2 ♥♥ 0 The appeal works great if performed last. 2 ♥♥ Prevents the Voltage from going down in the same turn.  
Fire Blast 4 ♥♥♥♥ 0 A highly appealing move. 2 ♥♥ Earn +2 if the Pokémon performs first in the turn.

Flamethrower 4 ♥♥♥♥ 0 A highly appealing move. 2 ♥♥ Earn +2 if the Pokémon performs first in the turn.  
Flash 3 ♥♥♥ 0 Shifts the judge's attention from the others. 1 Lowers the Voltage of all Judges by one each  
Growth 1 0 Ups the user's condition and helps prevent nervousness. 0 Earn double the score in the next turn.  
Hail 1 3 ♥♥♥ Badly startles those that have made appeals. 2 ♥♥ Prevents the Voltage from going up in the same turn.  
Haze 3 ♥♥♥ 0 Worsens the condition of those that made appeals. 2 ♥♥ Prevents the Voltage from going up in the same turn.  
Heal Bell 2 ♥♥ 0 The appeal works great if performed last. 0 Increased Voltage is added to the performance score.  
Heat Wave 4 ♥♥♥♥ 0 A highly appealing move. 2 ♥♥ Earn +2 if the Pokémon performs first in the turn.
