Continuing his Flying Pokémon tradition, Ash Ketchum captures a Starly in the Diamond and Pearl anime. Shinji captured three Starly in DP003. The first two were released because they didn't know Aerial Ace and the third one was release because Shinji thought that it wasn't very strong.

Name origin

Mukkuru is derived from 椋鳥 mukudori (gray starling) and and kurukuru (クルクル), an onomatopoeic word describing a bird's call. Starly is derived from starling.
