This article is about the glitch Pokémon in Generation III. For the glitch Pokémon in Generation IV, see -----.
This article is about the glitch Pokémon. For other uses of -, see -.

- is a glitch Pokémon in Generation III which hatches from a ?. Its index number is that of a regular Egg, making it the Generation III equivalent of Pokémon Gold, Silver, and Crystal's glitch Egg. As such, its sprite looks like that of an Egg, and it can also be found by "catching" the Pokémon with the index number 412 (Egg). Attempting to encounter - in the wild in Ruby and Sapphire will result in a freeze before the battle begins. Though it is possible to catch it in Pokémon Emerald, the game may reset itself sometime after the conclusion of the battle.

It has a glitch-name ability with an unknown effect, and its two types are the invalid types with indexes 22 and 20, that due to the way graphics are stored are displayed as the Contest-only move types Tough and Cute respectively. -'s summary can only be viewed in Pokémon Ruby, Sapphire and Emerald, but when - is viewed in Ruby and Sapphire, the game will stay on a black screen for a while before its summary is displayed. If the player attempts to view it in Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen the game hangs with a magenta screen. No action can be performed and the game will need to be turned off and back on.

The games treat it both like an Egg and a Pokémon. If entered in a battle as the first Pokémon in the party, the second Pokémon will be sent out instead. However, it is possible to shift - into battle. Furthermore, if taken to the Name Rater to be nicknamed, the Name Rater states that he cannot nickname an Egg. If hatched in FireRed or LeafGreen, however, it can be given a nickname when it hatches.

- cannot be migrated to the Generation IV games, as the game will display the message "An Egg cannot migrate!"

Variations

A nicknamed version of - (sharing its index number), most commonly with the name being rendered as óË {e Ái or B óË ÁN, will appear when a Pokémon with "negative" (i.e. 65535 or below) health (from the Pomeg glitch) is traded from Pokémon Emerald to Pokémon FireRed or LeafGreen versions and a healing item is used, resetting the Pokémon's HP to 0 when there are no other Pokémon available for battle. The player will not white out because healing can never activate the 'no Pokémon left' flag. The 'no Pokémon left' flag only activates when the player's last Pokémon faints due to damage of some kind.

By using the method above, entering a battle with all fainted Pokémon and using a Revive on another fainted Pokémon will immediately take the player to the Pokémon selection menu. However, for unknown reasons selecting the revived Pokémon will prompt the player that the opponent "is about to switch Pokémon". Returning to the Pokémon selection menu via the "YES" option but choosing Cancel instead of choosing the revived Pokémon will force the player to send out óË {e Ái.

When sent out, óË {e Ái plays a cry identical to Bulbasaur's. Its sprite entry animation, a frame of a distorted (zoomed, unzoomed and twisted) Egg rising upward, will loop itself indefinitely (commonly called "scrolling beige box") and the game will lock up (this is not a game freeze, so the game can still be soft reseted). As such, óË {e Ái can't be used in battle.

Notes:

Experience group

- is in the experience group with index number 78. Because this index number is beyond the last valid experience group, the following unrelated data is used as its experience lookup table:

Total experience Level
RSE FR LG
0 1–45 1–77 1–78
2,031,620 46 78 79
205 47 79 80
0 48–95 80-100 81-100
1,507,332 96
210 97
0 98-100

Because it is the last entry with a total of 0 Experience Points required, the lowest level - can be found at is level 45RSE/77FR/78LG, including when it is hatched. Once it obtains a total of 2,031,620 Experience Points (such as by being given a Rare Candy), it will have more Experience Points than required by all entries in the table, and jump straight to level 100. If it is traded between games and placed in a Box, its level will be recalculated to match the current game's experience table.

If a level 77/78 - is traded from Pokémon FireRed or LeafGreen to Pokémon Ruby, Sapphire, or Emerald and is given a Rare Candy before raising it a level, it will go down to level 45. If - is given another Rare Candy, it will grow to level 100. Afterwards, the game may lose focus as if it is frozen (the reset button combination will not work). However, after a while, the game will gain focus and "un-freeze". It can then be traded back to FireRed or LeafGreen.
