Dungeon tile
A dungeon tile is a game element exclusive to the Pokémon Mystery Dungeon series. Dungeon floors are made of various dungeon tiles.
Types of tiles
Stairs
Stairs are the common way to proceed to the next floor of a dungeon. In Meteor Cave, the stairs will be disabled until the floor's Deoxys clone is defeated.
Warp Zone
Certain dungeons will use Warp Zones instead of stairs to progress to the next floor. In Red and Blue Rescue Team and Explorers of Time, Darkness, and Sky, they have the same appearance as Warp Traps.
Wall
Walls define the rooms and corridors of dungeons and are normally impassable. Ghost-type Pokémon, Pokémon holding a Mobile Scarf, Pokémon that have used a Mobile Orb and Pokémon with the IQ skills Super Mobile or Absolute Mover can pass travel over through walls. In the Rescue Team and Explorers games, traveling through a wall costs the player 5 points of Belly. In Gates to Infinity, the player loses HP instead. Walls can be turned into regular floor tiles by using Rock Smash.
Water
A water tile can only be traveled on by Water-type Pokémon, Pokémon that are flying or floating, and Pokémon with the IQ skills All-Terrain Mover, Super Mobile, or Absolute Mover. Dive can be used on these tiles but Dig cannot. Pokémon that cannot travel on water tiles but are forced onto them from the effect of a move or item or by switching place with the leader will be warped to a random regular floor tile.
Lava
Lava tiles can only be traveled on by Fire-type Pokémon, Pokémon that are flying or floating, and Pokémon with the IQ skills All-Terrain Hiker, Super Mobile, or Absolute Mover. Non-Fire types will be inflicted with a burn. Dig cannot be used on these tiles.
Air
Air tiles can only be traveled on by Pokémon that are flying or floating and Pokémon with the IQ skills All-Terrain Hiker, Super Mobile, or Absolute Mover. Dig and Dive cannot be used on these tiles.
Wonder Tile
Wonder Tiles cause any stat changes of the Pokémon stepping on them to be reverted. Floors with Wonder Tiles will have a certain number spawned.
Carpet
Carpet denotes the area of a Kecleon Shop. Any item found on carpet belongs to the Shop and leaving without paying for it will cause several Kecleon to appear and attack the party. Dropping an item on carpet and leaving will make the item belong to the Shop.
Ditto
In dungeons in where the Pokémon Ditto is one of the enemy Pokémon that appears on the floors, it can sometimes be found disguised as an item. If one of the party step on it, there's a 60% chance that the item will disappear and reappear next to the Pokémon that stepped on it. If nothing happened, then the player can either move on, check the tile info, or activate it. If Ditto gets a chance to attack (which is often after when one of the party stepped on it while disguised as an item, while slow or at normal speed), it will immediately use the move Transform to transform into the party member that was targeted. And since the move targets one of the party members, it will make all party members (except for the one it targeted) confused.
Stunfisk
In dungeons in where the Pokémon Stunfisk is one of the enemy Pokémon that appears on the floors it can be completely hidden as a floor tile, just like an ordinary trap would. Using a See-Trap Orb will have no effect and won't reveal any invisible Stunfisk tiles in rooms. If the player or the party step on it, it will immediately appear and use an attack, mostly Thunder Wave.
Traps
Traps (Japanese: スイッチ SwitchRBTDS/のワナ TrapGtISMD) are tiles that cause negative effects to the player and their party. Before being stepped on, they are disguised as regular floor tiles and remain hidden until they are stepped on. Using a See-Trap Orb will make all traps on the floor visible. If the leader uses an attack on a space in front of themselves, it can also reveal the trap on that particular space. Traps will not trigger if stepped on by enemies unless the trap was created by the party via a Trapper Orb or a move such as Spikes. Starting in Gates to Infinity, traps break after being triggered.
In Gates to Infinity and later, an unusual amount of traps can be found in Monster Houses, containing 7-10 traps within the room.

Spiked TileRBTDS SpikesGtISMD |
✓ | ✓ | ✓ | ✓ | ✓ | Deals 15RB/20TDS damage. Using Spikes creates trap. After Explorers of Time/Darkness, the party doesn't trigger its own traps unless activated through the menu. In Gates to Infinity and later, traps naturally found in dungeons are renamed Spiky Traps. However, in Super Mystery Dungeon, Spikes traps can also appear randomly on dungeon floors with other traps, even without an enemy Pokémon using the move.

Sticky Trap | ✓ | ✓ | ✓ | ✗ | ✓ | Causes held item to become sticky, rendering it useless and unequippable. In Super Mystery Dungeon, or if the player triggers it and no item is held, a random item in the inventory will become sticky. Cleanse Orbs, clearing the dungeon, and, in Explorers of Sky, paying Lickilicky at a Secret Bazaar removes stickiness.
Summon Trap | ✓ | ✓ | ✓ | ✓ | ✓ | Summons 1-4 wild Pokémon to adjacent tiles. It disappears/breaks after triggering in every game.
Toxic Spikes | ✗ | ✓ | ✓ | ✓ | ✓ | Inflicts Poison and after Explorers, deals damage. Using Toxic Spikes creates trap. Party doesn't trigger its own traps unless activated through the menu. In Super Mystery Dungeon, Toxic Spikes traps can appear randomly in some dungeons, even without an enemy using the move.

Warp Trap | ✓ | ✓ | ✓ | ✓ | ✓ | Warps Pokémon to a random regular floor tile.
