A Zygarde Cell (Japanese: ジガルデ・セル Zygarde Cell) is a cell-like component of the Pokémon, Zygarde, that make up the majority of its body. They have no will and act only at the direction of a Core. Resembling Zygarde Cores, Zygarde Cells are green, flat, worm-like creatures with two disproportionate eyes, the left containing a green pupil. A dark green hexagon appears its back.

A Zygarde Cell

In the games

A Zygarde Cell as it appears when the players first finds one in Pokémon Sun and Moon

Zygarde Cells that are collected by the player are stored in a Zygarde Cube. This items appears in Pokémon Sun and Moon, its upper versions; Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon, and Pokémon Sword and Shield.

In Pokémon Sun and Moon, 95 Cells can be found around the Alola region. In Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon, the Zygarde Cube that Dexio gives to the player initially has 40 Cells, and will give the player his own Zygarde (10% Forme) containing another 10% of the Cells given. More Zygarde Cells can be obtained by separating other Zygarde with the Reassembly Unit, coming from both in and outside of Alola. In Generation VII Cells transferred into Alola can be separated into more cells, but they will not count towards the overall count of 100. The Zygarde Cube will keep track of how many Cells are contained within it, with the 5 Zygarde Cores being counted as Cells.

In Sword and Shield, Zygarde Cells do not appear directly and only appear in the item description for the Zygarde Cube. There is no Reassembly Unit in Galar and form transformation is done with the Zygarde Cube instead.

In all games, Zygarde Cells, along with Zygarde Cores, appear during the transformation sequence into Zygarde's Complete Forme when Power Construct activates. Similar green hexagonal shapes appear during Zygarde's Thousand Arrows and Thousand Waves attacks

Locations

In Pokémon Sun and Moon, 95 Cells can be found around the Alola region. A majority of these Cells remain hidden until the player receives the Zygarde Cube from Dexio and Sina in Heahea City on Akala Island. Many of them are also tied to the time of day the game is currently at. No Cells are found in the overworld in Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon and are instead replaced by a similar mechanic of Totem Stickers.
