Togepi Trouble!

It's spring! And Togepi is ready for fun! But Togepi gets into lots of trouble. Maybe Togepi's new friend can help!

Plot

This book follows the plot of the Pokémon the Series episode Houndoom's Special Delivery.

The book starts with Ash and his friends taking a walk on a spring day. Misty’s Togepi wiggles in her arms, and Misty asks what it is. A Pokémon runs past them, and Ash says that it is a Houndoom. The Houndoom runs off, and Brock notices and tells the group that Team Rocket is nearby. Jessie states that they are there to catch Pikachu, and James throws out a Poké Ball, revealing Weezing. Weezing uses Smokescreen, and subsequently Misty is not able to see and falls down. Togepi tumbles out of her arms, rolls through the smoke and lands in front of Weezing. Togepi uses Metronome and vanishes. Pikachu slams into Weezing, and Chikorita uses Razor Leaf to break Team Rocket’s balloon. Team Rocket cries out that they are blasting off again. Togepi appears, with Metronome placing Togepi high up in a tree. Togepi starts to cry, and Houndoom hears Togepi. Houndoom climbs up the tree and carries Togepi to the ground. Houndoom continues on its way, but hears a noise and turns around to see a Pinsir attacking Togepi. Houndoom runs toward the Pinsir and tackles it, making Togepi safe again. Togepi starts to cry again, and Houndoom picks up Togepi with its tail. Houndoom then continues to run off through the trees.

Meanwhile, Misty is unable to find Togepi. Ash states that Noctowl can help them look and sends Noctowl out.

Houndoom and Togepi come to a river. Houndoom attempts to cross the river by jumping from rock to rock, but a Gyarados suddenly jumps out of the river, causing Houndoom to fall into the water. Houndoom swims to shore with Togepi hanging on. Togepi and Houndoom climb up to a green field, with Ledyba flying above the flowers. Three Bellossom dance in the grass, and Togepi momentarily joins them before Houndoom resumes the journey, bringing Togepi with it on its back as Togepi waves good-bye to them.

With the group, Noctowl finds something. Ash states that they are footprints, and Misty cries that they belong to Togepi. Ash, Misty and Brock follow the footprints to the river, jump across the rocks and climb up to the green field, to find that Togepi is not there.

Houndoom and Togepi run further. It begins to rain, and they take shelter in a dry spot under a tree.

Pikachu finds more footprints, and the group follows the footprints to the tree, only to find that Togepi is not there, for Togepi and Houndoom have already left.

Houndoom and Togepi arrive at a Mareep ranch. The rancher acknowledges his Houndoom’s appearance, stating that he sees that Houndoom has brought the supplies he needed and a new friend too. The group manages to catch up to Togepi, and Misty cries out to Togepi, holds Togepi in her arms and states that she is happy that Togepi is safe. Suddenly a net drops from the sky and catches Houndoom. The net is revealed to belong to Team Rocket, and Ash commands for Chikorita to use Razor Leaf. The leaves cut through the net, freeing Houndoom. The rancher commands Houndoom to use Flamethrower, and Houndoom blasts the balloon with the attack. Team Rocket wails that they are blasting off for the second time. Togepi hugs Houndoom, sad to leave its new friend but feeling good to be back with its old friends as well. Pikachu agrees, thinking so too.
