Tate's Solrock (Japanese: フウのソルロックFu's Solrock) is Tate's main Pokémon in the games, anime, and manga.
In the anime
Solrock first appeared in It's Still Rocket Roll to Me!. It battled Liza's Lunatone, but it was no match for the Meteorite Pokémon. When Solrock was charging up a Solar Beam, it was interrupted by Lunatone's Tackle but still managed to launch the move. Lunatone's Ice Beam was stronger and defeated Solrock. It was later seen lifting Team Rocket in the air after Corphish freed Max and Tate.
In Solid as a Solrock, Solrock battled alongside Lunatone against Ash's Pikachu and Swellow during Ash's Gymbattle with the twins. It started off with Tackle and then used Solar Beam. However, because of Lunatone's Ice Beam clashing with it, it ruined Tate's strategy and Tate got into an argument with Liza. It left Solrock wide open for Pikachu's Iron Tail. Team Rocket then came by and snatched Solrock and Lunatone from Tate and Liza. They escaped with the help of Ash's Pokémon and sent Team Rocket blasting off with a combined Psychic.
The battle continued, with Solrock using Sandstorm on Swellow. It dominated Pikachu and Swellow with the help of Lunatone. However, Pikachu's and Swellow's Thunder Armor proved to be very powerful. As a result, Solrock was badly beaten by Pikachu's Iron Tail, winning Ash the Mind Badge.
Personality and characteristics
Very little is known about Solrock's personality except for the fact that it usually follows Tate's commands. Unlike its and Lunatone's Trainers, Solrock and Lunatone haven't been known to bicker that much.
Solrock is Tate's main Pokémon. It was first seen in I'm Always Grumpig First Thing in the Morning II traveling with its Trainer on Mt. Pyre, where it used its abilities to sense intruders. Solrock was used in conjunction with Lunatone against the Team Magma Grunts that were aiming to steal the Red and Blue Orbs. Despite their best efforts, the Grunts were only illusions created by Blaise, who easily got past his opponents and stole the orbs.
