In a locker room, Nessa sits by herself as she recalls her recent battle loss against Milo. She is interrupted by Rose and Oleana, who congratulates her on the close match. He holds up several magazines with Nessa featured on the front cover, admitting her modelling career is doing well. The Chairman remarks that balancing being a Gym Leader and model must be hard work, before clarifying that it is up to Nessa to decide how far she goes. Rose smirks while Nessa is left infuriated by comments.
Later, Nessa catches up with her friend Sonia at a local café. Nessa is still fuming over the Chairman's comments, believing that he is wanting her to choose either a modelling or Gym Leader career. Though Sonia assures Nessa that it up to her what she wants to do. Nessa goes quiet and stares into her tea, knowing she has an important decision to make.
During a photoshoot, Nessa holds several poses for the photographer, but is still too distracted by Chairman Rose's comments. She turns around to admire her familiar surrounds. Nessa touches the lake and recalls something from her childhood. As a lonely Feebas swam up to her boat, Nessa offered it some words of advice and petted it. She asked the Feebas if she could ride on its back when it evolves someday. Afterwards, the photoshoot resumes with Nessa posing with several different Water Pokémon. Nessa later takes a break while the Director is alarmed that there are no more Pokémon around for Nessa to pose with. A slight sparkle on the water surface gets Nessa's attention, leading her to leap off the boat and dive into the lake. Nessa follows a school of Pokémon deeper into the lake before she encounters a majestic Milotic. The Director orders his crew to keep the cameras rolling, and they manage to capture a shot of Nessa riding Milotic.
The photograph soon reaches Sonia, who immediately calls Nessa on the phone to congratulate her on the amazing shot. Nessa replies that she has never seen a Milotic in the wild, but the experience was simply beautiful. Sonia admits everyone always mentions Milotic's beauty, but never talk about its powerful nature. She concludes that Nessa should be just like Milotic, both powerful and beautiful at the same time. Nessa recalls the incredible encounter, with Milotic leaping out of the water while the lake below is teeming with aquatic life. A familiar glance from the Milotic makes Nessa realize that it is the very same Feebas, having since evolved and keeping its promise, from her childhood.
With her mind now clear, Nessa walks into Chairman Rose's building. At the reception desk, Oleana is quick to inform Nessa that the Chairman is busy. Nessa confidently reports that she intends on becoming both a top Gym Leader and model before politely excusing herself for the day's match. Oleana says nothing and returns to focusing on her paperwork. Afterwards Nessa attends to her waiting taxi, where she is flown over to the stadium for her next battle.
