Purugly looks like a big gray and white cat, with a tail similar to Glameow. It still has a crescent shape head. Its ears are pointed and purple-colored. It has whiskers with a zigzag like pattern at the end of them.

- Although its appearance suggests that it is sluggish, its highest stat is actually its speed.
- Also, it's Pokémon Pearl PokéDex entry mentions it wrapping it's tail around it's waist to make it look more intimidating. Despite that, it doesn't have Intimidate.
Origin
Purugly is based on a tiger cat.
Name origin
Its English name comes from the words "purr" and "ugly". Its Japanese name may be derived from a combination of デブ debu, fat, にゃ nya, meow, and the English word "cat". Its German name, Shnurgarst, comes from schnurren and garstig. Its French name, Chaffreux, comes from chat and affreux.
