Trivia
- Luxray is one of only two second stage Template:Type2 Pokémon that was released in the same generation as its evolutionary relatives, the other being Ampharos.
- Unlike most Electric-types, Luxray has Speed as its lowest stat. It shares this trait with Ampharos and Magnezone.
- Luxray has the second highest Attack stat out of all the Template:Type2 Pokémon. It is second only to Electivire.
- Even though it is shown attacking with its claws in the anime, it couldn't learn Scratch or any other claw-based moves until Pokémon Platinum, where a move tutor can teach it Fury Cutter.
Origin
Luxray is based on an adult male lion. Or possibly, the constellation Leo, due to the fact that it resembles a lion and bears a star shape on the end of its tail.
Name origin
Luxray is derived from lux, a measure of brightness, and x-ray, referring to its x-ray eyes. Its Japanese name is a combination of Roentgen, the physicist who discovered X-rays, and 虎 tora, tiger.
