Talk Page Comments

Please don't erase talk page comments for no reason. Trust me, you do NOT want to end up like Big Johnno, who got into an edit war with a sysop over comments the former had erased and was trying to keep erased. That user ended up blocked and subsequently had every erased comment restored. --MoldyOrange 04:13, 7 June 2008 (UTC)

Don't write articles in the second person. Any instance of "you" should be an instance of "the player," or whatever else is appropriate. --Martonimos((Argh|Blargh)) 03:46, 17 June 2008 (UTC)

Why are you changing them? They are just for the page and list of episodes.--☆CoolPikachu! 10:28, 27 July 2008 (UTC)

Good. At least YOU understand. Still trying to communicate with Chocolate. BTW, neat sig. Thought you like lower-case t though... ht14 15:20, 4 November 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for the assist

If you don't mind, could you please continue with the thing I've been doing with the headers? My Internet is slowing down for some reason, so you could you please continue where I left off? I did Machop last, so start from Machoke and continue by National Dex order. Chocolate 01:56, 7 November 2008 (UTC)

Origin Headline

So why are we making the Origin headline on Pokémon pages level 2 instead of level 3? I'm wondering because I couldn't find a discussion of it anywhere. Personally, I don't think that 'Origin' deserves the same level of importance as other headers like 'Game data' and 'In the anime'. — Laoris (Blah) 01:50, 8 November 2008 (UTC)

I was the one who proposed it on the Project Pokédex talk page, and there were no oppositions, so I started doing it, and tc decided to help. And we are doing it because the origins aren't trivial, thus they don't belong as sub-headers of trivia sections. Chocolate 01:52, 8 November 2008 (UTC)
Oops, I wasn't sure where to look to find stuff that would apply to all the Pokémon pages. Anyway, I don't want to make a big deal out of a relatively minor issue, especially since you've already put work into it, but I still don't think that origins are that important. I guess it is a matter of opinion though. PS., sorry to have put this discussion here, tc26. — Laoris (Blah) 02:01, 8 November 2008 (UTC)
Well, they may not be that important, but they don't have anything to do with trivia. That's why it's being done. Chocolate 02:02, 8 November 2008 (UTC)

Same as Tesh

I told Tesh that maybe it's better to keep the correct prons for the names, as Katakana says that it is reh-jee-ice, then only that pronunciation should be kept. hfc2X 15:49, 8 November 2008 (UTC)

Please don't add unconfirmed abilities to the anime Pokémon. Politoed666 has started reverting the unconfirmed abilities unless they have been seen or commanded to by their trainers. So, don't add any more, even if they have one ability. Thank you. --PsychicRider 15:05, 11 November 2008 (UTC)

Pokémon Pronunciations

Why did you change all of those? The ones I had put in were from an official Nintendo handbook. There are citations referring to it there. Are your pronunciations official? — Laoris (Blah) 02:32, 16 November 2008 (UTC)

Hey. I'm still waiting for an explanation. — Laoris (Blah) 15:28, 17 November 2008 (UTC)
Don't guide yourself by a Nintendo handbook... they are often wrong. Take the Legendary Rotom for example. hfc2X 17:48, 17 November 2008 (UTC)
In that case, we don't have a good a good basis for how a Pokémon's name should be pronounced. People say names differently. Which way is correct? Can we consider pronunciations from games such as PBR correct? I've seen numerous pronunciations entered that I don't agree with, and many more that aren't even syllabic. Also, if the pronunciations from the handbook are incorrect, then I suppose they should be removed, but he left all the citations there. — Laoris (Blah) 19:27, 17 November 2008 (UTC)
Is the anime the correct pronunciation?--デビッド Aipom (Speaks To Me):] 秘密の通信 19:39, 17 November 2008 (UTC)
In the case the name is the same as Japanese, then the Katakana must be considered. And no, sometimes the anime fails bad. hfc2X 20:03, 17 November 2008 (UTC)
Should we just change pronunciations until we find one people agree on? Or maybe we should put multiple ones in. — Laoris (Blah) 20:14, 17 November 2008 (UTC)

Minisprite formats

It's preferred to use the PNG minisprites as opposed to the GIF ones. We once had a problem where static minisprites 400 and lower was GIF and 401 and above was PNG, but that problem has since been rectified so that now all minisprites, both still and animated, are available in PNG. I've went ahead and tweaked Template:Almiapkmn to reflect Bulbapedia's general PNG preference. Only the extension field vanished; the remainder of the paramaters are still intact. --Shiningpikablu252 16:17, 22 November 2008 (UTC)

I mentioned the Gifs there since, before, I thought that the ones before Gen 3 were all gifs. *tc26* 23:30, 22 November 2008 (UTC)

Anime images

Just so you know, TTE wants us to get rid of all JPG and GIF anime screenshots and replace them with PNGs, so from now on, whenever you upload an anime image, upload it as a PNG instead of a JPG. Chocolate 21:20, 22 November 2008 (UTC)

but all lowercase .jpgs can stay, right?--KukiTalk 21:21, 22 November 2008 (UTC)
No. TTE also wants us to re-upload those as PNGs, too, even though it'll take a long time to do. Chocolate 21:22, 22 November 2008 (UTC)

105 image

Your image is bland, and the other image describes the episode better. The best screenshots focus on major characters (Rotom's other forms), depict the plot or major events of the episode. Unown artwork

Hey, I noticed you uploaded artwork for most Unown forms were they all little pictures you just put together or did they come that way?--MisterE13 16:37, 20 December 2008 (UTC)

Second one *tc26* 14:32, 23 December 2008 (UTC)
Would you be against chopping them all up and uploading them individually. Because the Unown page is in the process of performing a calculation, semi-randomly displaying one form. I think that would also apply to the artwork but you could ask TTE if you want to be sure.--MisterE13 14:40, 23 December 2008 (UTC)
On second thought, I asked TTE about it and he says to leave it as is. Sorry if you had already started this now useless undertaking.--MisterE13 03:09, 24 December 2008 (UTC)

Dark colors

now, i don't have a problem with the dark colors, but, are you using a system, or just by eye? because the colors do have a system of the sorts. -- MAGNEDETH 05:13, 13 March 2009 (UTC)

I used a program to get the code but I just moved the colors to just about the same place to make them darker (eye). *tc26* 05:24, 15 March 2009 (UTC)
hmm, there is actually a percentage referring to their color, but, i dont remember off the top of my head, and im not overly worried about it right now. did you make all of them or are some still left? -- MAGNEDETH 05:27, 15 March 2009 (UTC)
I did all the types in the main games, including "???". For short, everything here*tc26* 05:32, 15 March 2009 (UTC)
i see. ok. im not worried, but, ill find the code and check a few tomorrow. if theyre close enough, ill leave them. -- MAGNEDETH 05:36, 15 March 2009 (UTC)

That new template

Doesn't fit in my screen. Mainly coz of the infobox on the RHS. Changing the widths to "auto" could provide a fix. Just thought I'd let you know. — THE TROM — 08:39, 13 March 2009 (UTC)

Check now. *tc26* 08:43, 13 March 2009 (UTC)
'Tis sweet. Just a note (if you were the one that put the {{-}} underneath), that stuffs it up too because of the infobox. A simple break tag will suffice. (If it wasn't you, then this is for potential future reference) — THE TROM — 09:42, 13 March 2009 (UTC)

it doesnt fit on my screen either. did you check with TTE before implementing this on official pages? because youre supposed to. -- MAGNEDETH 01:02, 15 March 2009 (UTC)

this is the second time ive asked you something and have been seemingly ignored, i would like an answer, please. -- MAGNEDETH 05:07, 15 March 2009 (UTC)

Sorry about that, my internet had problems a while ago and I forgot about it. Sorry, I didn't know I had to ask and Trom didn't have complaints after fixing it. *tc26* 05:09, 15 March 2009 (UTC)
meh its ok. coincidentally, my internet just crashed. anyway, Trom prob uses a bigger reso than me, but worse of all, Pikablu uses an ancient 800x600, and he will surely complain. either way, you gots to ask TTE before implementing it. on a final note, could you answer my question above this? -- MAGNEDETH 05:20, 15 March 2009 (UTC)
What question? *tc26* 05:22, 15 March 2009 (UTC)
Okay, could you stop editing move pages for a little while? The template is way too big for a lot of resolutions! I'm running a 1280x800 widescreen resolution, and the template is almost crashing into the infobox! Anyone on a smaller resolution will have huge display issues, plus, to be honest, it needs work... Also, have you even asked anyone if you can implement this template? - Kogoro | Talk to me - 06:51, 15 March 2009 (UTC)
Yeah, running it on testpages is pretty much standard play... like how I do it. Plz to be working on it (and resize your browser so it acts like an 800x600 window so you know). TTEchidna 07:19, 15 March 2009 (UTC)

Simple solution:move the "In the anime" section" down, like in abilities. *tc26* 07:26, 15 March 2009 (UTC)

Dude, DO NOT add an anime picture to a move page UNLESS there is an explanation on who's Pokémon it is, how the Pokémon uses the move, etc. --Theryguy512 14:51, 15 March 2009 (UTC)

What the cwap, man? There's no need for so many danged templates just for images, especially such a low number of them (this is 5 and 10, not 493 or so). Especially since anipngs don't animate if they're thumbnailed! TTEchidna 08:59, 24 March 2009 (UTC)

I'll be adding the others for the trainer sprite template and there'll be gifs. *tc26* 09:00, 24 March 2009 (UTC)

So.... is that referring to a Macintosh computer? If so, it could possibly be worded better, and link to wikipedia to clarify... just my 2c. — THE TROM — 11:00, 30 March 2009 (UTC)

On the opposing note, I had my 175 use Metronome, and it used Transform...on a 129..." Do you understand it now? The images are separate from the words, and I'd prefer it if there was a template that did not have those gaps... ht14 13:58, 15 April 2009 (UTC)
I'd like it to do that but that was based on Template:imagelink so I don't really know how to fix it. *tc26* 14:04, 15 April 2009 (UTC)

Color templates

OK, so first off you've spelled "messages" wrong up the top. But those color templates.... are you using a set percentage of the old templates? (e.g. "light" colors are 40% of the original). They really should all match up. And secondly.... they're all really really black. But considering they are mostly to be used as text, I suppose that isn't that big a deal. — THE TROM — 05:53, 16 April 2009 (UTC)

Never noticed. They're all in a certain range. *tc26* 05:54, 16 April 2009 (UTC)
OK, TC. Admins just voted. No location color templates. Just use the hex codes, man, they're only going to be in, like, one place. It's not worth it. — THE TROM — 03:33, 21 April 2009 (UTC)

The max-width makes it look messed up in monitors with screen resolution 800x600px. Also, when I previewed one using the longest title, and it looks awful. It might be best to set it to auto. And, I left a small note in the news.. hope you don't mind. Kevzo8 12:01, 5 May 2009 (UTC)

Could you guys not gang up on him like this? He's only trying to help. You have no reason to warrant a block for this. I know you're all excited about this announcement but calm down. I'm shocked at your behavior. Especially you Mav...
I believe that some of you are overreacting because of what game it is, not because you do it for every game. I didn't see you act like this for Platinum. Yeah, yeah, we all expected this forever and TTE was really excited about it but, we should let other users get involved. Need I remind you that Bulbapedia is community driven, not one-person driven. And what happened to our "Be kind to other users policy"? Did that just fly out the window because of HGSS? Threatening blocks because you wanted to do it yourself? It's not right... Unless he vandalized something intentionally, you shouldn't threaten him with a block.
And now I'll be decked for this. Keep in mind I don't know everything that's going on, I just see what's on this talk page. And what I see doesn't seem right. tc26 is a good user who does a lot for us and shouldn't be treated like this over a game. --ケンジガール 07:26, 8 May 2009 (UTC)

Eh... to explain the pic thing? ht14 00:25, 11 May 2009 (UTC)

Basically, according to TTE, it's due to new servers. Pics, even ones uploaded before, either show as that gray-colored box or, recently, as though there were no image at all. tc²₆tc26 01:44, 11 May 2009 (UTC)

Oh, I interpreted that the wrong way. I thought TROM meant by normal readers searching for it themselves...somewhat silly actually... ht14 04:17, 15 May 2009 (UTC)
Well where do we find them then? Instead of tagging every single page, a better way of coordinating mass edits among a certain area is to do it through the Project. That is why they exist. In addition, TTE was looking at redoing this section... — THE TROM — 04:18, 15 May 2009 (UTC)
